Ooooh… me, too! I don’t know if it’s the lyrics or Emmy Rossum’s voice that does it to me. I also like (from the movie soundtrack) the bonus by Minnie Driver “Learn to be Lonely”.

Daeve–don’t worry, I don’t think I’ve EVER called “The Pina Colada Song” by it’s real name (no one knows it as “Escape” anyway… everyone calls it “The Pina Colada Song”!)

I seem to have missed the OP’s final line–“What do you belt out when you’re alone in the car?” There’s a lot of them, but the one I go to first is Trisha Yearwood’s “The Song Remembers When”

But that’s just a lot of water underneath a bridge I’ve burned,
And there’s no use in backtracking around corners I have turned,
Still I guess some things we bury are just bound to rise again,
For even if the whole world has forgotton the song remembers when.

I missed the part about car-singing too. I’m a big time car singer, a veritable star, in fact. Ask anyone heading south on I270 between 5:30 and 6pm, Mon-Fri. I’m singing As Long As He Needs Me, and Who Will Buy from Oliver, Fever, sometimes Godspell or Jesus Christ Superstar. I did Godspell in 1975, and I costumed Superstar in 1974…I’ve been singing those for years. Nothing like singing in the car. A Mustang has great accoustics!
 
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the Ramones’ Blitzkrieg Bop That song makes this 40 something mom of four rock out.🙂

Also, I forgot to mention Coldplay’s Yellow. That always makes me sad.

There are also a few really early BeeGees songs that I love. I’m not sure of the name but the one about “started a song…”

OH yes. This is the one I was referring to.

I looooove Dan Fogelberg! I just wish he’d update his website more often. And I’ve never heard him talk - like an ainterview. I want to hear his talking voice.

That’s one that I haven’t heard in a long time.

A lot of folks have mentioned grandparent themed songs which reminds me of an old favorite by Randy Travis. I want to say the title is “I Thought He Walked on Water”. Maybe wrong about the name, but its a good touching song.
 
“Leader of the Band”… definitely Fogelberg! I forgot about that one. It makes me think of my husband, his brothers and his dad.

How about “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” by Neil Diamond and… who sang it with him? Barbra Streisand? Help me out here!:confused:

That Randy Travis song is a nice one. Yes, Fogelberg did Leader of the Band, another parent type song. How about Daddy’s Hands? Don’t remember who sang it…I’ll bet there are a lot more parent/grandparent songs were forgetting.

I remember Too Ra Loo Ra or however it might be spelled. My mother sang that to us. I don’t remember the others. Maybe I can look them up on the internet.
