What secular songs move you emotionally?

I was listening to some music I have on my pc today and got wondering about what songs (not religious) move people emotionally. Not patriotic either, though I suppose if that’s what does it for you, then by all means mention that.

Anyway - for some strange reason, Walking in Memphis ONLY the Marc Cohn version, and Let the River Run (New Jerusalem) by Carly Simon - both these songs have the ability to bring me to tears every time I hear them. And it’s not the lyrics really, but the music is extremely moving to me.

So - what moves you? What do you love to belt out in the car when no one is listening? 😃

I forgot one…“That’s What Friends are For”. I always liked it, but now even more so, because it reminds me of my nephew, John, who has Downs Syndrome. It was played at an event called The Buddy Walk, an annual event hosted by the Downs Syndrome Awareness Group.

That would be Lonestar, the group that does the tearjerker “Not a Day Goes By”

I can’t believe I didn’t mention Josh Groban’s “To Where You Are”. That song came out just after my brother-in-law’s wife passed on at the age of 28 (their kids were just 2, 4 and 7 at the time) and I have to pull over whenever that song comes on the radio. Also “I Believe” by Diamond Rio does the same thing to me for the same reason.
