Well I already know how a Catholic jury would decide. It’s been fun. Peace be with you. 🙂
everyone one agree that Jesus existed. the evidence? for another thread.

almost no one takes that position anymore.

c’mon Godsmachine.

ample evidence for God. even more for Jesus. and more for the CC being His church.

take the leap?

if you’re agnostic, why live like an atheist? try the other side for a year and live like a Catholic.

fair, no?

Sorry, I don’t see any evidence.

No. If you want to pin the atheist label on me that is fine. But I think I am better qualified to decide which label fits me best.

no, i said you’re agnostic.

as for evidence for God/ Jesus i think william lane craig presents good evidence for both.

You can’t possibly do that. You’d lose both your vocation and your identity. :ehh:
An unusual username usually represents to some extent the beliefs of its author…

A genuinely philosophical discussion is not concerned with authors but their beliefs… or with their claim to have no beliefs…

You also said I live like an atheist (something you could not possibly know). No matter. I don’t care.

Perhaps he does. You haven’t. Thanks again. Good night.
i said why live like an atheist generically, didn’t mean you did. sorry if i wasn’t clear.

God bless

I’m wondering how generic agnostics live. In exactly the same way as atheists? Or do they pray on the off-chance they may be heard? I doubt it!

imeant that i don’t know any agnostics that live religiously.most live secular lives.

that might a good other thread.

I’m sure the vast majority of agnostics never even consider the possibility that God exists from one month - or even year - to the next! How often in our secular society do believers think about God?

During the 20th century prior to 1990, the popularity of Christianity had been stable in the U.S. About 87% of adults identified themselves as Christians. The country then experienced a major change. Significant numbers of American adults began to disaffiliate themselves from Christianity and from other organized religions. By 2008, the percentage of Christians had reached 76% and is believed to be continuing its decline.
The former-Christians do not seem to have joined new religious movements (NRMs) or other world religions; they mostly left organized religion entirely and became secularists.
Since World War II, this same process had been observed in other countries, like the U.K., other European countries, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
So yes, people are starting to wake up a bit, to think criticaly about faith. That may be why such a larger protion now simply consider themselves “spiritual, not religious.”

Religion? culture? history? morallity? etc.

What do you think the world would be like?

What would be different?
The main difference might be that fewer would have anthropomorphized and politicized God due to an unfortunate misunderstandig of mysitcal language translated by mystically unexperienced translators and theologians and preached by the same, as a general rule. What might have taken the place such misunderstanding? Maybe something less devolved into fear based worship* of a diety constructed so to mask actual relationship. So all the consequent suppression of individuals might have lessened as well. Perhaps what was the original inspiration of our Church might have had greater sway, but in better translated and understood guideances. In any case, we wouldnot have to be dealiing with th rampant personaization tha we are faced with today, unless one of its other forms had its sway instead. Being how we are, tha might have happened, and we would simply have another form of it. But things are improving.

*See the thread on why Marcus Aurulius, a clearly enlightened man, persrcuted Christians.
