The automobile caused the decline in the use of horses.

It just got too difficult to get a decent whip anymore.

Here I was figuring that when the British navy went down the tubes, flogging went out of style.

I imagine it’s not just movies and television that have this impact. I love documentaries, but boy do you have to keep your brain on when watching them. So many cable networks produce shows with the look of a documentary, but what is really just entertaining historical fiction. “Ancient Aliens” anyone?

Oh yes. This show tops everything
You are right, it´s mostly bad “history” documentations and sadly this includes the most favourite and most seen channels, including rather scientifically looking documentations with reenactment scenes you really can´t find bad when you´re not into the topic. But I have maybe seen 1-3 really good history filmy and docus ever who hold a great standard in facts, costume and behaviour.

Yes. In the US, it usually lasts 3 days. Once they determined you weren’t crazy or suicidal they’d have to let you go. You are allowed to practice your religion freely in the US at least. You’d of course have to provide the appropriate religious documents and probably get a statement from your spiritual director. Catholicism is a major religion.

Well, if it was in a movie, then it must be true.

I believe the movie ‘Novitiate’ was based on memoirs of nuns who lived through that time of change.
