It’s certainly misogynistic to say that men are more intelligent than the women. It’s quite a different thing to say that male and female brains think differently if that statement is backed up by facts and research. Certainly men and women are generally quite different emotionally and emotions play a big role in how we think. I think you could make a strong case that men are better suited to certain tasks while women are better suited for others. The idea that say, women are not as good as men at math or science or that men are worse at writing and reading has been thoroughly debunked. The emotional impact on thinking, however, is more in dispute.

Gender roles and gender identity are important in a society and I totally agree with Julianne that trying to make men and women the same is destructive. And frankly it’s been just as destructive to women as it has been to men.

God made us male and female to be complementary. We are each a reflection of Him in an incomplete fashion but when we are together we are a better reflection of Him that we could ever be on our own. I don’t see anything wrong with noting that.

But to debora’s points, there are some people who have gone far beyond simply saying “gender roles are important” or “men and women are not the same” and have implied something quite contrary to the teachings of the Church.
Yes, and Debora’s statements are on the mark IMO.

Also, some of the men here have made great points too.

If men and women simply respected eachother and married couples submitted to eachother, these would be non-issues.

IMO, radical feminists hate men. They are toxic women. They ruin it for us women who truly are feminists.

^This, had just wrecked radical feminism’s approach on marriage. 👍
Indeed. Feminists just love to tout true Christian marriage as *enslavement. *
Sweet Rosy O’grady!

We need a St. Joseph’s type of Men’s group to counter the Radical Feminists propaganda methinks -yes?

Sorry, I need more than that. 🙂

JP spoke of mutual submission and so does the Bible. The Bible also talks of the man loving the woman as Christ loved the Church and the woman submitting to her husband as to the Lord.

Other Popes also spoke of the same, but I guess one can say they were products of their culture.

The sad part is that the the relationship between husband and wife with the husband as the loving leader and the wife as his loving helpmate, is a beautiful thing and does not involve demeaning of women. I would never stand for that.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who don’t understand what it means on both sides, and often those of us who get it, end up on the same side with the crazies.
That is alright, I have no issue with you believing as you do and practising submission as long as you do not push it is doctrine.

I have read a lot on this subject and been on many threads on this issue and I do understand your point of view. With respect, I just do not subscribe to it.

Good. NO ONE here is a radical feminist. Neither does anyone here support radical feminism in any way shape or form.

If “feminism” is about giving honor and dignity to the female gender (which is what it’s supposed to be), then radical feminism is actually NOT very feminist at all.
Bold Lettering Mine:

Indeed?
Your proof of this is? I see posters advocate Abortion. Would you not say that Abortion is a Radical Feminist proposition? Ahmmmmmmmmmmmm!??

I agree with you Deb. There is an anti-women vibe on CAF by a small number of radical misogynists claming to be “traditionalists”.

Thank God most men I know, don’t think this way.
I also sense an anti -male vibe by posters that engage in radical mysandry.

Athough I do not assert that CAF is unique or responsible in this.

ok…you’re being kinda a silly billy here. 99% women would verbally slap a woman for claiming she’s pro abortion on CAF.

I have yet to see a man stand up to another man who claims that a working mother is wrong. You just don’t see it. All you get is a bunch of women defending themselves and other men joining in on the anti-women sentiment.

It happens over and over again on CAF.

It must be done in a way that would not alienate each other.

Yes. We become what we hate. Therefore we absolutely must not employ the same tactics that Radical Feminists use.

and this also wrong. mysandry does not correct anything.

Indeed? Is it not unfortunate that Radical Feminsism has promoted abortion to the alarming degree it is perpetrated today? Should not the word Abortion be tied to the Feminist movement? Should Feminism not be **labeled **as such?

Yes, this is CAF. As I posted earlier, I am always fascinated when Catholic women identify themselves as Feminists. I should think a Catholic woman would want to flee from the even remote association with this nefarious organization.

If you wish to champion Feminine issues, I should think you would chose an organization with title **other **than Feminist. I should think one would chose an organization that with a title that gives glory to Our Lord as opposed to Gloria Steinem,

Let’s face it. In the Public Perception Arena, is not abortion associated with the Feminist  A la Sebellius? A la Pelosi? A la Margaret Sanger? A la the Democrats? A la the HHS mandate?

Why not use the term New Feminist? 🙂

I am a feminist and I will not be ashamed to call myself a feminist, nor will I allow a toxic movement to have me turn away from what I am.

Feminist.

Nice idea. However I would think that the old associations would linger in the Public consciousness.

How about Mary’s Feminists?

Take it up with JPII.

Nimzovik, bro… dial it back man. I think the female posters have made it quite clear that they’re using the Susan B. Anthony model of feminism here. Not Sanger or Steinem or any of those clowns. You’ve seen a couple of posters note that radical feminist lunatics are destroying the label of “feminist” which was originally about treating women as the equals to men that they are. Simple things like voting rights, not support for abortion. Getting women beyond being treated like chattel or children, not making men subservient to women and demonizing masculinity.

So, are you saying that you do not support radical feminism?

👍

One of the most annoying things to hear is “I’m no feminist but I do think that women are equal to men.”
