What is your favorite type of music? (Aside from Traditional Latin Hymns at Mass, of course šŸ™‚ )

Classic rock all the way, baby. I also like a lot of rock-fusions, like mod-trad Irish rock music, folk-rock, and Gregorian rock.

Whereā€™s the R&B and funk choices??? With a little Reggae in the mix ???

Oh, well, I guess Iā€™ll just have to go with classical, then. šŸ˜‰

Youā€™re right squirtā€¦my bad. We only get seven choices, so those are what I did. Perhaps you can start a poll for the stuff I left out? šŸ™‚

i like most genres, sub-genres, mini-genres, and ā€œfusionsā€ in music except country-western (except maybe Hank Williams Sr., Dolly Parton, Reba McIntyre, and Shania Twain [though her pop music phase really sucked]), some pop music (boy bands, Britney Spears, etc.), and that neo-nazi punk ****. such are very grating to my ears. i do like southern rock and folk a great deal.

iā€™m more obsessed over particular bands than genres.

Iā€™m pretty fond of most music (and my dislikes are similar to those of Fraggle). But since I have to choose one genre, ā€œLilith Fair Junkā€ is it. Unfortunately no one would go with me to the big festivals a few years ago. The last year Jennifer Knapp joined the line-up, and I had to miss it. šŸ˜¦

I put classical, but what I really meant was Early Music. Josquin masses, a little Thomas Tallis, and Dowland all the way!

Of course, I am a medievalist.

Runners-up would be Jazz (give me Ella and more Ella) and Celtic music

Jen:

I made my poll multiple choice, so you couldā€™ve put more. šŸ™‚ However, I expected you to like that Lilith fair junk. You are a heretic after all.

Good Morning Church

I love any kind of good music, except the rap type.

I put country as my choice because that is what I am inclined to listen to most of the time.
Also, after being in the entertainment business for so long, I have really enjoyed most of the country entertainers I have met. They are the ones who have given us the least amount of trouble and treated me and my family with the greatest respect. For me, that counts for a lot.
You didnā€™t have gospel on there, limit on how many choices.

Good topic! smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_1_125.gif

My favorite is ā€œOldiesā€ - Beatles, Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Johnny Rivers, Lesley Gore, etc., but that wasnā€™t listed. :nope:

Bob Segar

Bob Segar

Bob Segar

ā€¦and enough Kiss, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Styx and Queen to make for a good dance night. In fact, I can make a case for most of the hair bands from the late 70s/early 80sā€¦the memories of my ā€œyouthā€.

Try this siteā€¦ CelticMelt

Also, ancient church music, rennasiance and medieval. Plus classical music, celtic, folk, and some progressive house.

if you are a medievalist, youā€™ll like the music of Mary Timony, which is a fusion of prog rock and all things medieval:

p.s: donā€™t mind the biography on her website. Mary T. is catholic, but apparently whoever she let write her bio isnā€™t very approving of the Church.

Hey. Loyola - remember the Bob Segar System? We had them play a dance at Bishop Duffy High in New York when I was a freshman, around 1966 0r 1967.

The categories you gave donā€™t really work for me so Iā€™ll just say that I live various types of artsy rock from the 60ā€™s to the present as well as jazz (Coltrane, Monk, Dolphy). I also have a soft spot for 60ā€™s pop and folk rock. I even like Abba.

But that should be for trendy hipsters. Iā€™m anything but a trendy hipster.

I mean hell I like the Mamaā€™s and the Papas and the Band? what couold be less trendy thatn that?
