I LIKE CLASSICAL, ALTHOUGH NOTHING SPECIFIC. USUALLY WHEN I LISTEN, IT IS ON THE CAR RADIO AND PUBLIC RADIO. BUT MOSTLY I LISTEN TO BIG BAND, THE RAT PACK, ANY FRANK SINATRA, CHRISTMAS (AT *ANY *TIME OF THE YEAR ), AND COUNTRY FROM THE 60’S AND 70’S.

Anything written or played by Steve Allen…what a talented man!!

Dixieland, Big Band and of course Ella, the queen!

When I die the angel jazz band will be playing “When the Saints go Marching In” and I plan to pick up a banjo, clarinet or saxaphone and join the band. That is my idea of heaven!:clapping: :dancing:

I love rock music!! Like Switchfoot, MXPX, Maroon 5, New Found Glory, etc. I also like Rachael Lampa, a really good Catholic singer, even though she’s not rock. 😃
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH no marron 5 and new found glory are not rock dont even put them in the same genre!

I like switchfoor though

My favorite is “Oldies” - Beatles, Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Johnny Rivers, Lesley Gore, etc., but that wasn’t listed. :nope:
Now yer talkin’! In Rockford, Illinois we have only one station that plays Oldies They call it “today’s best music” As Bob Segar would say “Today’s music ain’t got the same soul. Let’s hear that old time rock n roll!”

I like lots of music. I usually listen to J-Pop now adays (Japanese Music ^^;) and techno/dance. Its kind of hard to find dance music that dosen’t have something to do with drugs, or alchahol, or sex, though ;_;
I can’t stand rap in any way shape or form, or heavy/screaming rock stuff… it hurts my ears and gives me a headache ^^;
Middle-ages music is cool, too. I’ve liked classical for a long time.

when it comes to music,i’m eclectic. in the morning,especially if it’s monday,i pump up sousa’s music (march) to get me ready to fight the ‘war’ at work.then while working???, i listen to rock and roll,jazz,latino,r&b,country,pop,folk depending how the day is going.on my way home,i start humming lullabye songs to hone to my voice for my kids and nagging dw(just kidding) and when i retire, easy listening instru is the omega for the day e.g. mancini,clayderman are among my faves!

You guys need to appreciate metal…didnt even put it on the list. I guess I am too young for you people.

Wow, now I don’t feel so guilty. I have a lot of protest Christian friends that tune out rock altogether.
My husband is a metal head, myself a huge Bon Jovi fan (except when it come to his politics:whacky:) Love Bob Segar, Queen, Nickleback, Creed and some of the softer stuff like Air Supply, Night Ranger, Journey. Oh and I love Styx. 80’s music too!

Hey is there any music(bands) rock or other wise that you guys think that practicing Catholics/Christians should not listen too?

My favorite music is the same music we’ll be listening to in heaven; Irish.

Right now I am listening to Bizet ‘Carmen’ Les Toreadors

I love all kinds of music even Metallica if the mood is right 😃

My favorite music is the same music we’ll be listening to in heaven; Irish.
You got it, ICXCNIKA. As a fiddler, I like to play Irish tunes, but also the old square dance music, and make the dancers fly. We still have the old square dances around here, where anyone on the dance floor (except the sociologists with their pads sitting along the wall) can get up and call.

But you gotta have a little balance, Alegri, Palestrina, and how 'bout Rimski’s Our Father in 4 parts? Get a congregation to whale on that one (a capella of course) and you’ll know you’ve been to Church!

Here’s a law of the value of music to the person: any music that you sing or play yourself, done with meaning and care for the truth and beauty is above any music you listen to. Not to denigrate at all the absolute importance of listening to good music (for those of us who hear-those of us who are deaf have other means of appreciating and expressing music), because that is where we learn what it is-but all beautiful music is a preparation for our immortal singing (and dancing) the praises of the Blessed Trinity in the choir of heaven as ICXCNIKA so wisely says. Go read the poem, The Fiddler of Dooney. God bless,

Dave

What is your favorite type of music? (Aside from Traditional Latin Hymns at Mass, of course 🙂 )
:dancing: :bounce:

I like all of the ones you listed except for the “Lilleth” sort. But my favorite is Christian Alternative (DC Talk, Miss Angie, Five Iron Frenzy, Fr. Stan Fortuna), which is the most alternative, and the only true alternative! I also like secular Alternative music if it isn’ t blasphemous. I love the variety of Alternative, like that played at college radio stations, where you can hear everything from folk to rock to bluegrass to classical to comedy to electronica to tejano to punk to swing to big band to rap to reggae to R&B to Gospel to opera to ska to club music to emo to country to Christian to indie to oldies…and then there’s the international ethnic music such as polka and Indian, and the aforementioned catagories from different countries. I think Hispanic punk sounds great! One person out there said that punk and Catholicism don’t mix, but not all (in fact, very little of)punk music is neo-nazi…Remember “Bodies” by the Sex Pistols? Though graphic, it was the first anti-abortion song…And MXPX is an excellent punk Christian band! While I find Pink Floyd and Metallica to be depressing to listen to, I aknowledge that they are extremely talented; just not to my taste. I certainly don’t think their Catholic listeners are disengenous. And most of the top-40 stuff I like started out as alternative and then became popular. But Gregorian Chant (praising God) is absolutely awesome! :bowdown:

I don’t know if anyone can tell, but I love music! Thanks for letting me voice my opinion.

God :blessyou: ,

Angelina :angel1:
