Very pretty 🙂 The garden is changing each week over here, the crabapple in full bloom and also the
Quince tree. The roses are not far off now 🙂

Talking about pears, there are a lot of pear trees where I live and they bore a bumper crop of fruit.

I’ve been harvesting and eating pears for dessert for over a month.

They can well too! We used to can pears every year when we were kids.

Can they be made into jam as well?

I used to have a recipe for spiced pear upside down cake, but I lost it.

It was what I usually brought to church or office potlucks.

I wonder if your upside down cake might be make-able with a homemade gingerbread base? Or you could add some of your favorite gingerbread spices to a pineapple upside down cake recipe batter (ginger, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice,) eyeballing your gingerbread recipe to think about choices and quantities for the taste you want and switch out pears for pineapple. You are making me hungry!
I got out my canning book and found recipies for apple/pear jam, pear preserves, and pear nectar. I’m pretty sure we used to make a pear butter, but will have to check with mom- she has a different canning book than mine.

Finally found it!

This is the exact recipe I used. It’s a lot simpler to make than the previous one.

I serve it with some vanilla ice cream or some plain whipped cream. Creme fraiche would also do.
