Beans and rice! I gave blood today. My K of C council sponsors a blood drive every Good Friday. Jesus shed His blood for me so I shed mine for my brother or sister today. I had four Oreo cookies and two small bottle of cranberry juice to revitalize myself. For dinner I had a plate of beans and rice. Now, as I get ready for bed, I’m having a smaller can of blackeyed peas and some leftover rice.

No meals for me. Probably a weeny too harsh as I experienced bad hypoglycaemia during the Good Friday service at about 230pm. We started at 3. Was in the Cathedral then. Had to get a bottle of water from the sacristy. I am glad I done that (fasting) as I didn’t do much during Lent this year except for abstinence which I did other times anyway.

I had two pieces of fish for lunch and two eggs and one pancake for dinner.

This morning I had a little bit of a baked potato. I fasted most of the day, only drinking a lemonade in midday. Later in the late evening I had some deep fried fish, the head of a rainbow trout and a part of some catfish. Really good fish, love fish.

Banana, toast for brunch. Mushroom pasta and a small salad for dinner.

Well the power went off on Good Friday around the time when I was planning to make dinner. Waited for an hour, no power. Rang my electricity provider, they could no give me a time frame. Decided to go out and get some cooked fish, returned home to find the power back on.

Murphey’s Law

I had a hot cross bun for breakfast, a half of a cheese sandwich for lunch, and fish for dinner.

p.s. If anyone would like to join a fun thread, you can tell all of CAF what you eat and drink every day 😀

I also had some hot cross bun this morning. The parish gave me one along with a mini Cabernet bottle after being an Apostle in the foot washing.

The Cabernet is gone. Somebody drank it all last night.

The past two days went by in a blur. I barely remember eating, let alone what I ate. To the best of my recollection:

An hour after midnight on Good Friday, I consumed a small block of tofu with a little soy sauce, and a glass of water. Crushed under Holy Thursday service, I had, at that point, not eaten for almost 18 hours.

At noon I drank a glass of banana milk. It’s like chocolate milk, except, well, made with bananas 😁

At 5pm, I ate a hot cross bun.

At 10pm, I dined on a slice of onion quiche.

By 10:20pm, I had fallen asleep on the couch. 😴

Yogurt with some protein powder mixed in around 10.
Cauliflower rice and garlic shrimp around 5 after the Good Friday service.
I was hungry but did just fine.

My dinner last night was a piece of haddock, a few fried clams, about 7 french fries, and a small thing of coleslaw and then a plum and some blueberries - that was my full meatless meal.

Then my final small meal was some unsalted, roasted pistachios, some grapes, a bowl of special K with skim milk, and some pepperoncinis.

In all, I’d say my total caloric intake was about 1500. That may seem high for a fasting day, but at my size I need 2500 calories a day just to maintain - so 1500 calories is an extremely restricted amount.

Breakfast - little bowl plain oatmeal
Lunch - Little bowl of vege lasagne
Dinner - Small piece of fish, few chips and a portion of veges.

Yesterday I ate vegetarian ramen noodles that we ordered.

Usually I would eat peppers and eggs frittata. That’s more filling.

A piece of dry toast and black coffee for breakfast and lunch. Two bean burritos and black coffee for dinner.

I follow the Byzantine fasting rules and this is the first time in many years that I haven’t been either pregnant or nursing for the fast. I’ve also been dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety because I’m hosting our family gathering for Pascha and 6 out of the eight members of my family have been down with the flu. Thank God, I’ve been healthy, but I’m feeling a little ragged at this point. Anyway, I had a Pepsi for breakfast. I had planned to eat something else, but one of the kids needed me and it just never seemed to happen. About two, I had a sliced apple with almond butter. Around 4:30, I fed the kids and had planned to have some rice and vegetables with peanut sauce, but I ended up rushing out the door to get to the Good Friday service with the few of us who were healthy enough to go. I ended up feeling weak and wobbly at church. I went downstairs and try to find something to eat. All I could find was a cookie. It didn’t meet the fasting guidelines, but I needed to eat. My three-year-old snatched it from me and I was too tired to protest. I ended up crashing and sleeping for about 30 minutes. I woke up feeling fine and I went back upstairs for the rest of the service. I ate my rice, veggies, and peanut sauce when I got home about 8:30. I probably should have had some beans, too.

Pray for me, please, to remain functional and that the whole family is well enough to go to Church.

Good Friday was a fish day. My veggies were broccoli and green beans. Water to drink altho I had a small bottle of Gatorade before bed.

had two bean burritos. that was it.

but i’ve had this weird stomach flu throughout all of holy week. i think i’ve only must’ve eaten 2 small meals this whole week

Breakfast was a Clif bar, lunch was one of those individual packs of Planters peanuts, dinner was black beans and rice with some applesauce.

No breakfast,just coffee
Cheese and crackers for lunch
Salad and a cheese omelet and an apple for dinner

I did bread and water till 6 pm (for bread, I used 3 medium-size day old croissants and 2 pieces of Wasa crackerbread) and then had an apple and went to bed.

When I am going to have a day like this, I make sure to eat a complete meal late on the preceding evening, so I won’t be passing out as I walk the 10 or so blocks for “Living Stations” and then do 10 repetitions of “let us kneel/ let us stand”.
