I follow the Byzantine fasting rules and this is the first time in many years that I haven’t been either pregnant or nursing for the fast. I’ve also been dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety because I’m hosting our family gathering for Pascha and 6 out of the eight members of my family have been down with the flu. Thank God, I’ve been healthy, but I’m feeling a little ragged at this point. Anyway, I had a Pepsi for breakfast. I had planned to eat something else, but one of the kids needed me and it just never seemed to happen. About two, I had a sliced apple with almond butter. Around 4:30, I fed the kids and had planned to have some rice and vegetables with peanut sauce, but I ended up rushing out the door to get to the Good Friday service with the few of us who were healthy enough to go. I ended up feeling weak and wobbly at church. I went downstairs and try to find something to eat. All I could find was a cookie. It didn’t meet the fasting guidelines, but I needed to eat. My three-year-old snatched it from me and I was too tired to protest. I ended up crashing and sleeping for about 30 minutes. I woke up feeling fine and I went back upstairs for the rest of the service. I ate my rice, veggies, and peanut sauce when I got home about 8:30. I probably should have had some beans, too.
Pray for me, please, to remain functional and that the whole family is well enough to go to Church.
