When is an atheist a Christian?

Everyone should remember that God’s Mercy is not to be underestimated. May the Holy Spirit enlighten them and if not, may God bless all the atheists in the world and have mercy on their souls.

but they still deny God, consciously.
When you see how some of the more prominent “people of God” behave, sometimes that’s incredibly easy to do.

And you know the heart of no one but yourself. So lets not speak about their relationship with God. We can only speak definitively of our own.

The law is written on their hearts and those “atheist” people are responding to it. I say “bravo”.

Atheism is simply an opinion
if a person denies God and claims to be an atheist, it is a moral decision that generally allow certain actions in a persons life that a christian wouldn’t do (without guilt at least) including those actions stated above.

is the denial of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit the unpardonable sin?

it would make it worse than the rest.

You talk of denial. Maybe they just don’t know.

You are fortunate. You have experienced God for yourself. He has changed your life. He has spoken to you personally. He speaks to you daily. When you pray you get an answer.

Same here.

Not everyone is so fortunate.

It’s interesting this use of “denies God” — it is an expression which attempts to turn the holding of an opinion into some kind of action. Atheists don’t “deny God”, they simply don’t believe in His existence. It is hardly possible to deny someone who doesn’t exist. And such an opinion is not a moral decision, it is an opinion on a widely disputed subject: atheists can be as moral or as immoral as Christians.

can you deny God verbally and get into heaven? he spoke the words.

this is the catholic problem as some protestant see it: you can work your way to heaven without faith.
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

There is heaven and there is the kingdom…

The two are quite different…

you claim he said he never believed, not that he didn’t know God.

don’t assume on other peoples experience with God. sometimes faith is all we have.
Dan certainly is. He is a builder by trade. 6’2", muscled, angry, looking to punch anyone who winds him up at the moment. He said I’ve never believed in God. How can there be a God when my son died?’

So you have never experienced God? Yet you defend your faith.

I have experienced God and I guess I challenge dogma and doctrine as a result.
He gave me a gift. It was to see scripture in another way that still kept to the basic rules. He has blessed me with a life amongst the secularists who follow a life that follows my alternative views of scripture and still keep to the rules. He has shown me a simple way to reconcile all denominations and creeds and secularists to work together for the betterment of His Creation. Do you think He enjoys seeing division?

You would separate the wheat from the chaff. The chaff were stored away for burning. The wheat was crushed for flour to make bread. Thing is, you need the chaff to heat the oven to bake the bread. You can only make Bread (Jesus) with both wheat AND chaff.

You have to know someone to believe in them.

go on a few atheist forums and you will see a lot of denying God exists and attempts to persuade believers to give up their belief.

this guy verbally denied God by claiming no belief based on a supposedly lack of action by God.
He said I’ve never believed in God. How can there be a God when my son died?’
an opinion is a judgment formed about something,

when you look at the sides and choose one you are performing an action.
such an opinion is not a moral decision
it absolutely can be. many atheist are atheist because they just don’t want to follow God’s moral law.
atheists can be as moral or as immoral as Christians
but their morals are subjective and evolution doesn’t require any morals at all. it is just a communal get along

Where you run afoul is the equating of “faith” to “good, full and active standing in the Holy Roman Catholic Church”. Current theological scholarship is extremely hesitant to make this jump.

I’m sure I needn’t remind you; We are bound by the sacraments. God, most certainly, is not. And God judges us in light of our circumstances.

Verily, you cannot speak for those British atheists.

You use enough chaff to heat the oven. You use enough ground wheat to make the dough.

The resulting bread feeds people. It is chewed, digested and keeps a person alive.

Without the chaff the bread can’t be baked. Being wheat, ground and turned into dough is pointless unless you are cooked.

Or maybe they are following God’s moral law without the need to declare it…

You will neither declare nor deny your experience of God. How are atheists any different?

Being tacit about your experience with God is in fact to deny God.

I have declared my experience of God. I do not deny God.

How then are you different from an atheist?

you missed the point. this supposedly atheist made a statement. no one is speaking for him.

are you saying i don’t need faith just catholic doctrine?
I’m sure I needn’t remind you;
you are assuming
God judges us in light of our circumstances.
so we don’t have to believe in God because we don’t like the hand we have been dealt?
