Austria wanted to be a part of Germany and voted to join, yet it was portrayed as German aggression.
In English, that “wants” translates to “looks at massed tanks pointed their way” . . .
Watch Vesti News and Russia Insight on Youtube. You will see the truth about Russia. Don’t believe the Fake News on American TV.
Gosh, couldn’t I just subscribe to Pravda?

Today improved by the internet app, which makes it far easier to rectify, making memory holes unnecessary for goodthink . . .
The Soviet citizens had a saying about their two major newspapers, Pravda and Izvestia.(Pravda means truth and Izvestia means news.)

In Pravda there is no news; in Izvestia there is no truth.

In addition to truth and news, there is the voice of the Russian church, and my opinion is:
Let their priests not think that if they have not enough wisdom or critical thinking, that they are free from personal reasoning and responsibility.
The blood of the departed Ukrainian and Russian young soldiers volunteers crying out from the ground about revenge.
Mothers of those disabled are bedridden, without arms, without legs, their mothers pray.
You know very well that according to the Bible, blood has the ability to scream for revenge from under the ground.
Even modern Russian writers who write about war recognize that without Russian volunteers there would be no DNR and no Lugansk republic.
Even if we talk about young 18-20 years old young Russian volinteers, those who inspired these guys to come to the territory of a foreign country, those hands are in blood.
True Russian features of directness and valor were manipulated by the media + their clergy. Only not many priests opposed this war.

The Russian Orthodox Church did not start this war, but the Russian Orthodox Church inspired and continues to inspire the salvation of the Russkiy Mir.
They accepted false propaganda project of the Kremlin.

You post an article about the Russian Orthodox Army but I did not see where you mentioned the following:
  1. Archpriest G. I. Kovalenko, has said that the Russian Orthodox Church does not bless" the Russian Orthodox army “to fight for the” Russian world and that the Russian Orthodox Church condemns their use of religious rhetoric and religious symbols to achieve their goals. (See Newsru.com June 19, 2014).
  2. Archbishop Zaporozhye and Melitopol Luka (Kovalenko) issued an official appeal noting that “with regret having learned from the media that militarized units are being formed in the Zaporizhia Territory the so-called “Russian Orthodox Army”…
they go on to say that participation in such formations is not blessed "

Religion in Ukraine (June 23, 2014).
  3. And the public adviser to the secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine, N. S. Yakubovich says that “people who call themselves the“ Russian Orthodox Army ”have nothing to do with the Orthodox church.
Wagner A. The Lord’s opponents took me prisoner (June 6, 2014).Radio Liberty
  4. In November 2014, Archpriest N. N. Danilevich commenting on the information portal “Orthodoxy in Ukraine” said that the Russian Orthodox Army has nothing to do with the Orthodox Church. ”
    Religion in Ukraine (2014-11-04)
  5. Etc., etc.
However, it is true that the article posted does say: " According to the Defence Ministry of Ukraine, the ROA has also been in conflict with another pro-Russian militia, the Vostok Battalion, which accused the ROA of looting, and of avoiding combat.[10][11]
In brief, I don’t see any indication that the Russian Orthodox Church in any way supports or endorses the Russian Orthodox Army. They may have taken that name, but I don’t see where they were authorized to do so.

Russian mercenaries who came to fight in Donetsk and Lugansk, all are fighting for the faith and the idea, and among them there are many very religious.

The idea of the Russkiy Mir itself rests on the foundation of Russian Orthodoxy, so the ROC uses two-meaning rhetoric. One in order to whiten oneself, and the other in order to ignite the rage of the Righteous wrath to the soldiers of the Russian world.

I also remember from my youth that there were many Baptist communities in the Donetsk region. I do not know what the fate of most of them. I want to believe that they emigrated to the Ukrainian side. In Lugansk, these invaders went crazy. How was it possible to return the persecution, which was in the USSR in 1930th? These are brainless barbarians! Most of this cattle under power is criminals.

You can not apply such religious persecution in the 21st century. This is not conversion evangelism in one of the communities; it is proselytism, anti-evangelism, and alienating people from religion.

In 2010 a punk band performed a song with the lyrics “Mother of God chase Putin away” in a church. 3 of the band members were arrested & imprisoned for 2yrs. Now, 1 of the band members has been poisoned. Now the patriarch call for their arrest, but didn’t say that poisoning was to far.

The patriarch declared a holy war on ISIS despite that Russia has been targeting Syrian rebels, who defeated some of ISIS last week, rather than ISIS.

The Russian Orthodox Church hasn’t criticised Putin over:

War in Ukraine (JP2 criticised Bush over Iraq)

Meddling in foreign countries

Banning Navalny from running against Putin in the election

The fact that all of Putin’s opponents are either in exile, in prison, or dead

Do not associate the Orthodox or Russian Putin with the Eastern Catholic Churches. We are separate from the Orthodox for a reason. The Orthodox during the times of communism were no support.

I agree with you Scott. I think a lot of people need to read the book “The Forgotten: Catholics of the Soviet Empire from Lenin Through Stalin,” By Christopher Lawrence Zugger.

I understand forgiveness and respecting other people’s views, but we need to defend our own views and faith. I don’t trust corrupt leaders like Putin and from my experiences I do not trust the Orthodox church.

And let us remember that the true Church is still heavily persecuted in Russia because She is not considered a “Russian” religion.

By the way, Crimea is Russian and Long Live Putin and Russia!
