You know, I have read so many of the posts that are started like this and I have to say that I can’t really figure out what is trying to be accomplished. I have seen in various threads, just in the last month alone, claims that there are 2,000, 3,000, 33,000, and 40,000 different denominations. Well, which is it?
Also, has anyone ever stopped to think that people come here to honestly see what real-life Catholics think? As a “Protestant” (what does that even really mean in 2008 A.D. anyway?) seeking to find out what Catholicism is all about, I am shocked at the lack of love and compassion for non-Catholics when I see threads like this. I guess I see The Great Commission as a way to LOVINGLY show people the ways of Christianity.
To the OP: no “Protestant” that I have ever come in contact with takes internet certification, the miracle workers that heal you on TV, the prosperity gospel, or any other group that goes off the deep end and strays from orthodox teaching seriously. Actually, most of the people I know are surprisingly in line with the CC in theology (obviously not all the way, but you’d be surprised at how much all these “non-denominational, Bible-only” churches that are truly following the Bible are in line with CC teaching.)
