Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m saying. The verse that you gave is to “repent and be baptized”. It does not say “then be baptized”, nor does it say “or be baptized”. Protestants and Catholics see baptism itself as two different things.
To recieve “forgiveness of sins” one must “repent and be baptized” Acts 2:38. It’s both, and a timeframe is not given as to when.
Baptism also replaces circumcision (Col. 2:11–12). Circumcision was almost exclusively done to infants, not to adults.
