Mutual friends introduced us. (Actually, she’s not my spouse yet–we are geting married on November 13). We chatted a bit, and later she was talking to her friend. She told her friend that she thought I was really smart, cute, nice, and was refreshed that we talked about Jesus within the first 5 minutes we met. She said that I was the type of guy she wanted to date, and asked if she thought I’d be interested. She did this all in sign language so that I couldn’t understand what they were saying.

Well, a little about me. I grew up 2 blocks from the state’s deaf school. I dated a deaf girl through all 4 years of college, and her and I worked with deaf children in sunday school. In other words, I could understand everything she said. hehe. 😉

She asked what was up with my silly grin, and I said to her, in sign language, “I’m happy I know sign language”. She turned soooo red that it was adorable. We had our first date the following weekend, and have been inseparable ever since. that was almost 2 years ago. I get to marry my best friend. 🙂

It’s wonderful to share such blessed memories.

I met my spouse in the basement of a fraternity house!

Summer of 1987, the science building at our university was being remodeled, so the anatomy and physiology class I had to take was held in the basement of a frat house. First day of class I noticed this guy who was handsome…best looking guy in the class! (some would later say “of course, the others were all dead!”)

She worked with my sister lifeguarding at the pool over summer break from college. Well, that meddling sister just couldn’t leave well enough alone.
We’ve been married for a little over a year now.

Ours was a blind date as well, set up by a mutual friend at work.

I definately got the better end of the deal. 😉

At a wedding in Huron, MI. He was in the air force then and was the best man for a guy who was a coastie. He had another girl there as a date! Turns out he was from a town only five miles from where I lived and his grandpa’s farm was only about two miles away and his cousins were my friends. They had never mentioned their handsome cousin in the air force. Geez, handsome, Catholic, and nice, just perfect.

in the tv lounge of our dorm building. I was watching friends play ping pong. He came over to talk to me. I had a tv in my room, but went to watch in the lounge after that, just so I could see him again.

We met at a dorm fire - There had been alot of false alarms that year, but we actually met during a “real” fire, complete with firetrucks and firemen!

He was my friend’s fiance. She foolishly dumped him. I had noticed on several occasions how well he treated her, very courteous, very attentive, and so I didn’t let him get away. Does that count as meeting through a mutual friend? I actually marked other because we met while we were both members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (medieval history recreationists).

I met my husband at church. Several years before we dated, I was in charge of a young adult choir and he came up and asked to join. I was thrilled. At the time he was married :bigyikes: and I was in formation to become a nun:rotfl: . However, it was not for me. He had moved away and he and his wife divorced and recieved an annullment:amen: .

He came in town  to attend a friends father’s funeral and we starting talking and dating and the rest is history. We often say our first date was to a wake:rotfl: !

“Where did you meet your spouse?”

At a monastery. :bigyikes:

Actually, a retreat for singles held in the retreat house at the monastery.

I met her at a factory where we both worked. The factory closed in 1981, but our 25 year marriage is open for business.

We met at school in the 3rd grade. I was very shy but had the hugest crush on him through the 8th grade (he never knew). I moved out of state but went back for a family reunion when I was 19. I came into contact with an old friend from school and found out he was great friends with my hubby. We ended up seeing each other for the first time (in a long time) at our mutual friend’s party, and it was was like magic. I still had those fuzzy feelings, and we hit it off and never looked back. I thank God for him everyday.

-who LOVES reading romantic stories! ❤️

I met my dh at his pet store. I went in with my then boyfriends sister and we became friends. I broke up with the boyfriend. The rest is history.

I was working at a canning company, when I follow an angel to a bench behind the huskers. Sat next to a lovely young lady and ask if she was the one. The answer was no, it’s the one at the husker looking at you. I learned later I was sitting next to her sister.

We met in a college bar, actually, when he happened to be sitting next to the only person I knew at the college. It was our first day there. But he was a seminarian, and I was engaged to someone else. We talked until dawn… the rest is history. 😛

My younger brother brought him home to dinner one night after meeting him at the railroad station where he worked. He was new in town and didn’t know anyone. Our family was big on befriending newcomers. Both my brothers and my family sort of adopted him and he became almost a part of our family. He was always at our house for dinner and celebrations. Everyone liked him immensely (except for me!)

I thought he was the rudest person I had ever met for the first few months. He assumed a big brother role which irritated me no end. He hung out at our house a lot with my brothers and was rude to all the guy’s who came to pick me up on a date. None of them suited him or my brothers.

One night I walked home from a date because the fellow was getting fresh with me so I bopped the guy and walked home mad as a wet hen. At least I had intended to walk home. Not 2 second’s out of the car and both my future husband and my brother were there in a flash. They smacked the guy and took me home from the drive in. Seems they had been following us to the movies to keep an eye on me. The rest is history… 😃

On a singles website called Catholic Gold Mine (our marriage has been a gold mine for us)…the website is now called St Raphael. I moved from the warm Caribbean up to New England…now how’s that for love!!!
