THIS FROM THE 1994 Catechism of the Catholic Church:
**CCC # 460 **The Word became flesh to make us “partakers of the divine nature”:“For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, ***might become a son of God.” ***“For the Son of God became man so that we might become God.” "The only-begotten
Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods."
/COLOR]***Friends I post this in hopes of not only pointing out a serious error; but to advise that when one hears an incredible statement such as “we are to become god’s,” attributed the the CC, ONE MUST INVESTIGATE IT!
There is an Eternity of difference between “SONS OF GOD,” which is what it says! and becomming like the Mormons “gods” themselves as is there belief.***
The message here is the it is God’s desire that everyone attain heaven. If and when we accomplish this; we too have been PERFECTED by God. It is the issue of necessary perfection [the price of admission to heaven] that then fulfills fully and perfectly HOW GOD CREATED us in His Own Image. *****Gen. 1:26-27/*****I] Take note of the HIGHLY signifient FACT that a "SMALL “g” is used; not the capitol “G” ones uses to describe God Himself. Thus infuring “in His image and likeness.”
God’s continued Blessings,
Pat

You make a very important point here! Whenever I’vd had discussions with people of other faiths, when I got to Theosis, they often stopped me to say, “We believe the same thing!” When, in fact, they do not.
Deification does NOT change our human essence. We do not change our humanity for Divinity. It is God Who transfigures us by His Grace and should we be called to perform miracles, then it is God who works them through us.
