Thank God this is an issue that no one in my family has had to face.
Where I struggle with abortion is when it comes to rape or the health of a mother’s life.
If any of the women in my family were raped and that rape resulted in a pregnancy, it would be hard to for me to accept that child. I realize that the child is innocent, but it is also the result of a violent act perpetrated against a love one.
If having a child were to result in the death of the mother, that would be hard for me to accept. Again, I realize that the child is innocent. But to see the mother’s life taken for the sake of a new born being. It is hard to think about.
Let me say that I do not favor abortion, but I have thought about these two things.
God bless all who have faced these situations in their lives. 🙏🙏🙏

Rape is violent. Abortion is violent. In ways it may leave the rape victims even more emotional wounds to have the abortion.

When a mother’s life is in danger, she goes to a hospital for care not an abortion clinic. If the baby dies as a result of this life saving care, that is not the same as an abortion. A normal abortion procedure would not save anyone’s life.

Even if a child is conceived by rape the child is still God’s child. We cannot take God’s children from Him. Direct Abortion is intrinsically evil, no circumstance can one go and murder a child in the womb. Now sometimes there may be a rare circumstance where the women’s ovary may have to be taken out due to extreme sickness with much consideration, and the result is the death of a prenatal, but that is not direct abortion, but indirect abortion and can be morally permissible in some occasions but even there it’s not good because a life will be lost.

“It is very rare to have a mother’s life seriously in need of having her child aborted to save her life.”

It’s non-existent and not moral. Never can a doctor go and directly end a child’s life to save the mother.

You know how when you are a child your mother always says (or my mom did) two wrongs dont make a right… well an abortion doesnt make rape right. I dont know anyone this has happened too and it hasn’t happened to me so I can just guess, but I would imagine it is hell. I have come into contact with and spoken to number of rape victims. I’m sure only God can help them. Certainly only God can ever help with regards to having the baby and he would be part of the decision to keep the baby or give it up for adoption. I think if you trust in God all impossible things become possible. In my opinion, or so I read the other situation you speak of is pretty much fictional and almost never occurs…just something I read somewhere that it was largely a statistic made up presumably by pro choice peeps … but I cant recall where I read it so cant back it up.

Keep working on being able to love the innocent in hard circumstances.

If the mother is unable to care for the child, there are many who would love to adopt.
If having a child were to result in the death of the mother, that would be hard for me to accept.
The doctor has two patients. We love them both. We try to save them both. We don’t kill either of them. If the baby dies due to life saving treatment that is not an abortion. Abortion isn’t a life saving treatment.

You should work against this instinct, and try extra hard to accept the child in such a circumstance. Nobody has control over how they’re conceived.

The 1956 Webster’s Dictionary had the word aborticide to describe the destruction of the fetus within the womb. This is what we are fighting against.

If you look in a medical dictionary, there is a full page of different types of abortions, specific to the situation in which a woman will find herself. It is true that the life of the child depends on the health of the mother. While we don’t hear much about The March of Dimes anymore, this was their greatest drive when I was young. Taking care of the mother’s health, especially in the first trimester, would lead to healthier babies being born.
In Scandinavia, where infant mortality rates were high, the infant box was developed. At first it was only given to women living in poverty as a reward for receiving proper pre-natal care. Now all women receive a box with everything they need when their child is born. This emphasis on pre-natal care has led to Denmark having one of the highest infant mortality rates to one of the lowest.
Notice that caring for the mother means better care for the child in the womb.

Is the child conceived because of a crime committed the perpetrator of the crime? There is no question any crime has a devastating effect on person violated, especially one as that goes to the core of a person. The person lives with the scars of that crime for the rest of his/her life. For some it can be the loss of a limb or other disability.
Does the value of a person’s life change because of the circumstances of his or her conception? Those who advocate for abortion on the basis of rape or incest say that it matters. In reality, it provides an excuse for those who may not want a child for other reasons to lie, to claim the child that was conceived through mutual consent was in reality conceived as a result of crime.
Am I saying that a woman who becomes impregnated as a result of crime is obligated to keep the child of the molester? The pregnancy will be remembered. The emotional and psychological scars remain no matter what decision a woman makes. There is an option at the end of nine months that a person who lost a limb cannot make. The family that takes the child into their home does not need to know the circumstances of conception. The woman need not live with the guilt of terminating an innocent life, of one victim becoming two.

The first right listed in the Declaration of Independence is life. Without life there is no liberty. There were no laws against abortion until after 1860. The fight for these laws was led by women to protect women.

How can one love someone who was conceived through a violent action? I know that child is innocent. But that child is the result of a violent action.
I would think that adoption would be an absolute thing.
Rape seems to be the bad action that keeps on giving.
The person raped is physically hurt. In the case that pregnancy results, the person raped much endure pregnancy, labor, and then for those who give the child to adoption any last mental pain.

How can one love someone who was conceived through a violent action?
??? How can you not? Babies are awesome.

How can Sister Helen Prejean love murderers? Because she loves Jesus.

Because we can do all things through Christ who gives us the grace to open our hearts and who strengthens us.
I would think that adoption would be an absolute thing.
Conception from rape is pretty rare, but there certainly are women do keep and love their babies.

You are a better person than I am. I would never look at a baby conceived from rape and think anything awesome about the child. I would think of the person who committed the violent act.
I guess I need to prayers from people on this CAF message board.
It’s kind of like watching people who have had a loved one murdered say that they forgive the person who did the crime. I have not grown enough as a Christian to be that forgiving. I guess than makes be a bad person, as well.

What about adoption? Look up Ryan Bomberger, an African American man who was conceived in rape, given up for adoption and adopted into a large family that also adopted kids with special needs. He is a powerful champion for life and the disabled, along with being a husband and father of four. Also a devout Christian. Was his life not worth it? I am so glad he is here and writing articles about life and liberty.
I agree with the above post, without the right to life there is no liberty.
I honestly believe we are seeing an erosion of liberty today.
That said, many states pre Roe V Wade had exception clauses for rape, incest and life of the mother.
Not that I think these are right. I believe all life is sacred.

You might be looking at them every day, you just don’t know it.

You don’t think any of these people are awesome? You don’t think the world is a better place with them in it? You don’t think their families love them?

These are just the ones who are public about it.

No, it makes you a person conditioned by society to pit mothers against their children as if there is no way to love them both. It takes a while to unbrainwash yourself.

You cannot fight evil with evil. I say to you evil begets evil. Let us not forget abortion is the leading cause of murder the world over today.

The baby is innocent.

To quote a sign I saw at the March For Life: “If it’s not your DNA, it’s not your choice.”

An innocent child should not be given a death sentence for the sin of his or her father. Nor should a child be given a death sentence because it might make us feel uncomfortable around that child.

No matter the circumstance, it’s immoral to try and “rectify” violence with violence.

Please see my post which may help you with the rape and abortion question.

How do you convince someone not to get an abortion if they were raped? Moral Theology
When I was in Catholic High School, I took a course in morality, and one day the discussion was on abortion. We all had said that abortion was wrong. The teacher then threw in the wild card of rape and incest. A number of people felt that it was okay to have an abortion in that case. The teacher kept question why it was okay to kill an innocent baby in that instance, and we all said because of the brutal act of rape and the baby was never conceived out of love. The next part has stuck with …
