Where I struggle with abortion

I understand what you are saying. But I would never want that child in my family. So, I guess adoption would be the answer. That would allow for healing for the family, not so much for the child needing adoptive parents. It’s such a tough moral question. Actually lots of questions. Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut.

That may be true, but those people you speak of would have been the product of a violent act perpetrated on someone else’s loved one. Not mine.

I pray for the baby and mother . Adopting a baby is a wonderful gift. To the victim it will take time to heal . The unexpected life is a blessing to those who are barren . They need a surrogate mother. I see someone’s house full where there was darkness. Sometimes organ donations are that way when someone’s dying. The death is loss for someone , but life to those in need of a heart. A prayer is answered and a heart begins to beat where the house was empty. Sometimes God answers prayers in mysterious ways . Think though , The Virgin Mary had the Son of Man by a God that made a sacrifice to set us free . So there is now light , where there was darkness. Do you see my point ?

I am pretty sure that I would never be able to accept a child conceived though rape. Better that child start with new adoptive parents. So perhaps something good does come from the act of violence.

God can always bring something good out of an evil act! The best example of this is when Our Lord after he was arrested said to Satan that it was his hour. Then Our Lord was crucified, and through that we were all saved. Satan has his hour, but God has His day!

It is a good thing to offer the baby up for adoption if you cannot raise the child. At least the child has a chance to live!

Perhaps the emphasis made by pro-lifers should be pro-adoption?

Yes. My family. A thing involving those in my immediate family. Not yours. Unless of course you would want to adopt said child.
I do not favor abortion.
But some like yourself seem to think that when it (rape) happens, just happily accept the child into the family. Like it was just a natural thing to happen.

How many times does a rape end up in pregnancy. It does but rarely. It occurs frequently I assume in ongoing cases of a child being abused and raped. In these cases there’s not much choice involved most of the time if abortion takes places it is also forced on them.

I’m terms of late term abortion because the life of mother is at stake you’re talking about killing a baby that can survive so if you taken the baby early to save both is the right thing.

Many women have willfully given their life for their baby. That’s called being a mother. God welcomes these mothers to heaven. Once you’re pregnant however that happens you are a mother then forever you can choose what to do based on what’s best for you or best for the baby but you are accountable for that choice.

I have compassion for all in the case of rape, except for the person who perpetuated the crime.
Unfortunately, the child that results from rape is another victim of the original crime. I would think that it would be easier for the child to make a good life with an adoptive family.
With few exceptions, I doubt that the women raped would want to keep the child.
And if that were to happen, assuming the that rapist were caught and convicted, would you suggest that that person be welcomed into the family, as well?
I am not in favor of abortion. I believe that adoption is the answer.

Abortion after rape and abortions to save the life of a mother are a tough one. I saw a comment about motherhood being about sacrifice for your child, what if this mother already has a kid? In the case of rape, from the victim’s perspective, you are asking her to carry and go through pregnancy with a reminder of what is one the most traumatic experiences imaginable in the most intimate way imaginable for 9 months. This is a place where I think no one can speak, it’s her choice.

I wanted to add that in the case of Ryan Bomberger, he was born in the late '70’s.
His birth mother could have easily gotten rid of him . That is why he is so grateful for his life.

Abortion after rape–I can’t help but think the abortion is creating a second victim.

You are a better person than I am. I would never look at a baby conceived from rape and think anything awesome about the child.
I would see a child born from horrifically tragic circumstances, a delicate, fragile, precious innocent.

If you are referring to ectopic pregnancies by “the other situation you speak of”, the occurance is about 1% to 2% in developed countries, so to say it is “pretty much fictional” and “almot never occurs” is incorrect.

Many people will call a resolution of an ectopic pregnancy an “abortion”, but it is not done to abort the child, but truly to save the life of the mother.

The problem is that most people are not truly capable of understanding the moral and ethical difference that unintended consequences have.

And an honest discussion about abortion, abortion providers, and the laws of this country are that “the live of the mother” is nowhere set out in the laws permitting abortion, so what the law privodies is both an operation due to an ectopic pregnancy, and anything else and nothing else as the underlying issue of “health of the mother”. In other words, what truly could be saving the life of the mother gets put in the same category as “saving her any emotional, physical or economic pain”.
