As it seems That I can be of no further use (as if I was any to start with to Mr. Allen 😦 ) I shall excuse myself.

Mr. Allen I just wish to let you know that I shall be spending some time before the Lord in the most blessed sacrament tommorow praying that you may have a more fruitful Discussion of the faith with these fine Catholics whom I am sure can answer all the questions you have if you will listen. Good night and God bless.

Where is the verse that says that? Who told you it is the Word of God?
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God…
14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
here it is as these scriptures show, The word is god and was made flesh(Jesus) and as he says, he is the only way to the father, or salvation or heaven.

this is the second time i’ve posted this

Allan, you said,
i can’t read everything.
Nonsense. Of course you can. That is, you can if you are actually involved in trying to understand what other people are saying, by extending them the courtesy of listening to them. If, on the other hand, your main goal is to put your own point across, then of course you can’t be bothered to ‘read everything’ because you’d be too busy picking and choosing and preparing your own arguments instead.

Not to be rude, but please don’t try to tell me that ‘you can’t read everything’ when what you are really saying is that you don’t choose to read everything.

I did posted that entire verse in the Gospel of John. But it doesn’t say the Bible is the Sole Authority…

picking and chosing sounds like a Caferia Catholic… more like… caferia poster… “one who picks and choses what he sees fit.”

Alright guys, Lets calm down. We are getting to riled up. Lets all take a few deep breaths.

There is no need to get violent here.

Now dear Mr. Allen,
it seems that everyone here is grabing at something in which to discuss. If it is not to troublesome, would you please tell us one specific Catholic Dogma that you have a problem with and let us work on that and we can move on from there.
People quoting from mother theresa. I don’t understand why they quote from her.

do you trust Luke… he was not an Apostle, and he wrote more of the NT than any other human author.
I didn’t know he wasn’t an apostle, sounds like you just want to argue about everything

Mother Theresa helped the poor in India and converted many into the Catholic faith. She did not condemn Non-Christians but treated everyone the way Jesus would.

Luke isn’t an apostle but he wrote the Gospel of Luke, and he is a Gentile Greek convert to Christianity, and a disciple of Paul. Paul himself was not one of the Twelve Apostle, but he is known as the Apostle of the Gentiles.

I also believe that’s what the Holy Spirit does is help interpret, but that’s differnent that writing new books to add to the Bible. Because I’m willing to trust everything that’s in the Bible because the authors (apostles) in the new testament were right with Jesus. They know him better than everyone that followed them.

When you said you were willing to trust everything in the Bible because …

I simply asked if you also trust Luke?

He did write one of the four Gosples… and he also wrote the book of Acts… the narrative about the early Church, its formation, it’s hierarchy, and the early travels of Paul…

and you still avoid giving a proof for Sola Scriptura… from the Scriptures or from any credible source.

.

Why do people quote Martin Luther King Jr? 😛
Why do people quote Shakespeare? 😛
Why do people quote their Mother, Grandmother, Father, etc.😛
Why do people quote anybody or anything?

People like or dislike what they have or had to say therefore they quote them. Nothing more, nothing less.

Quoting someone has nothing really to do with Catholic Doctrine or Dogma.

Why do you quote the web-sites you have quoted?

You can also add quote. “Why do we quote other quotes from other website not our own?”

Allan quoted some sources online. So why ask why?

Allan, the 4 Gospels were written by 2/3 of the Twelve Apostles. Matthew, Mark, and John. Matthew, Mark and John are Apostles.

Luke was taught by Paul, and he wrote the Gospel of Luke. The other text of the NT was written by Paul, Peter, and James. Revelation is written by John, the Apostle.

Another forum member, BobCatholic has posted these questions on other threads. If Scripture, and Scripture alone, is to be our guide, then these questions must be answered by the Bible alone:

BobCatholic:
My “infamous 4 questions” are as follows:

Using Scripture alone, please tell me:
  1. Where it says that the number of books in the New Testament is officially 27.
  2. Where does it say what books belong in the NT?
  3. Where does it say what versions of the books belong in the NT? For example: There was a version of Matthew’s Gospel that had 8 chapters worth of text. Another with 18. A third with 28. Which one is the correct one, using Scripture alone?
  4. Where does it say which TRANSLATION of the books in the NT is the correct one?

Neither Luke nor Mark were Apostles.

Most of the Apostles either wrote little,… or nothing.

Jesus did not instruct them to write anything.

Yes, I belileve he is God.
Allan, that’s why we refer to Mary as “Mother of God.” She is the woman who bore Jesus, who is God. But I assure you, whenever we call her “Mother of God,” we all understand that she is NOT the Mother of God the Father. She is only the Mother of God the Son. So, if you’ve been worried that we thought that God the Father came from Mary, you can relax. We agree that Mary was a creature, made by God the Father, just as everyone else was made by Him. We honor her (NOT worship her) for bearing Jesus for us; that’s all.

And I want to thank you. I see that you’re making a sincere effort to answer people’s posts; that’s got to be difficult given the sheer number of posts in this thread. I only have one other request: you’re obviously taking everything we say with a grain of salt, investigating our motives, etc. PLEASE do so with the websites about Catholics that you find. E.g., that “Popedom” website you quoted calls Adolf Hitler a “success] of the Papacy under Roman Catholic dictators.” Surely you understand that (A) that’s really offensive to us; and (B) the author is clearly prejudiced against us.
