(This is my first time creating a poll, so I hope it works.) I am curious about where most people think they will go after death.
You 'n me, Brother… You 'n me! :getholy:If i can slide in behind that door with the capitaly P on it, I will consider it a success
Pray for the poor forgotten souls in purgatory who have no one to pray for them and have been trapped there for a very long time. Your prayers for them will speed their release and they will be eternally grateful by praying for you so that you will have the graces needed at the time of death to be saved from the fires of hell.… I want to do everything I can to ensure my eternal salvation.
good post…Agreed!Pray for the poor forgotten souls in purgatory who have no one to pray for them and have been trapped there for a very long time. Try saying that five times in a row!Hopefully I will already have died before I die, so that when I die I won’t die

You’ll have people praying for you . . . we’ll pray.I don’t come from a Catholic family. Most of my family member are protestant, which means that praying the dead probably isn’t common in my family. That means that I’ll probably have no one to pray for me after I’m dead. If, by God’s mercy, I’m fortunate enough to make it to purgatory, I’m probably going to be there so long that I’ll be one of the people assinged to help the Guardian Angel of Purgatory deprogram the place after the Last Day. However, that’s still better than going to hell.
darwindidntknow, this is not directed at you because I am not in a position to judge anyone but too many people focus on God being all-merciful and forget that God is also all-just and justice will not allow the wicked to go unpunished because they would then be treated in a similar fashion as the just.I don’t believe in purgatory so I believe I will be going to Heaven, by the grace of God. I should be going to hell but thankfully we have a God of mercy <3

Thus, the reason for purgatory – the place where God’s mercy is demostrated … those that should be damned for being unclean, are saved through the mercy of God by being purified of their sins in purgatory.
This topic is not about Purgatory. Are you sure you want to talk about Purgatory, so that I show you your illusions about that passage you are thinking about?Every man’s works will be tested and if they fail they willl be burned up but he himself shall be saved as through fire.
THAT is purgatory …from the NT.
You can’t deny that passage…Nor 1st Maccabees 12:46 ** It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins.**Peace be with you!

Salvation is a gift. Via our free will, we can accept that salvation or reject that salvation by our words & deeds. Those who accespt salvation, are saved but because we have been stained by our sins, we need to be cleansed of those stains in purgatory. Is the Blood of Jesus Christ ENOUGH to clean the sinner?
Did Jesus bear on Himself our sins, and did He get the JUST punishment for our sins?
