Ponder this and let us love one another to the fullest measure possible.

My atheist schoolmate kept me company, played wonderful piano, talked enthusiastic science to me. Many atheists have supported my recovery from alcohol!

John 15:9 NAB

As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.

It matters not what the atheist has done for you. What matters is what you can do for the atheist. Pray for him. 🤷

Life makes more sense if you have faith in God, in my opinion. It’s pretty lonely being an atheistic existentialist.

We are all born with an open mind, ready to grasp supernatural things, eager to discover how this world works, looking for meaning, looking for wonder, looking for the source of it all.

Sure it matters!
The friend showed care, compassion, love, loyalty…just what Robert is talking about.
When we are desperate and suffering, a dear friend like that can save our lives on days like that.
Your friend sounds wonderful 🙂

.
Of course it matters. By their fruits you shall know them.

Ah, okay. Because your comment about Atheists having a lonely life struck me as odd since most Atheists I know don’t feel at all as you described.
But since you were not really an Atheist, that makes more sense. You were talking more about your own personal experience.
Gotcha.

.
Yes you are right - most atheists think they really know everything, but do they? They may be lonelier than they think. They surround themselves with “friends” who are really fairweather friends. It is much better to rely on God than on “friends”.

The world is very bizarre. A big bang occurred. stars and planets formed. The earth - suspended in a black void and spinning around a giant fireball - gives birth to life. Eventually humans come on the scene with emotions goals and desires.

Its freaky. And even more freakier than that, most humans go about their daily business as if this is all perfectly normal.

Would you prefer not to have emotions, goals and desires?

I personally do, we would eventually go to that state and it was the state of us before we were born, I don’t think any desire or pleasure in this world equals the pain, suffering is always more intense.
But that doesn’t mean that we, as long as we’re alive should be without emotions or goals.

A person goes about their “daily business” depending on their needs. For example, the daily business of a person living in Yemen or Syria would likely be the basic needs of survival and secuity while those of us lucky to be living in a western society would be more likely be involved in activities to satisfy our psychological and self-fulfulment needs.
