OneTrueCathApos is correct.

Scripture Proves the Church

Pope St. Damasus I in 382 AD first proposed a list of twenty-seven “books” that would comprise the canon. Gatherings, known as synods, of esteemed bishops were then convened in the north African cities of Hippo (393 AD) and Carthage (397 AD). These synods prayerfully attempted to discern the will of the Holy Spirit in deciding what texts belonged in the canon and which did not. The Church well understood the import of this task. Once the canon was decided, it would be closed forever to preclude any tampering.

In the year 419 AD a second Council of Carthage was convened under the leadership of no less a figure than St. Augustine, a bishop and one of the Fathers of the Church. This council confirmed the canon as approved by the earlier synods and forwarded it to Pope Boniface in Rome. The pope then authorized and promulgated the text and the New Testament became a reality, almost four centuries after Christ.

Since none of the synods were ecumenical councils their decisions required papal approbation in order to be binding on the whole Church. That is why St. Augustine and all of the Eastern Bishops of the Catholic Church agreed and sent the work of the synod to the pope for approval.

Finally, papal approbation is required to give ecumenical value and authority to conciliar decrees, and this must be subsequent to conciliar action, unless the pope, by his personal presence and conscience, has already given his official ratification (for details see GENERAL COUNCILS).

You’ll notice no support for homosexual “marriage” in any council of the Church, ecumenical or otherwise.
If you know me at all on CAF I am passionately opposed to women’s ordination and gay “marriage.” Why did you think it necessary to end your post suddenly mentioning the lack of gay marriage acceptance in Church councils? a: that’s a no-brainer in the ancient world, and b: what’s the relevance? Just curious?

Honestly, I am ashamed of you for becoming Catholic. You are downright mean and obnoxious. There are many many kind good Catholics who would never boast as you do. Just the way you are tells me that you still don’t understand what it is like to be Catholic. You do not have the Holy Spirit within you.
This post gave me the shivers, it really did. Nobody in here, I mean nobody has the right to pronounce judgment to this degree and declare someone devoid of the Holy Spirit. This downright bothers me. It’s uncharitable and you’re only further alienating this poster from this hardcore brand of Catholicism. You’re making an enemy of this poster when he’s obviously searching as many of us are. “Mean” “obnoxious” and devoid of the Holy Spirit. No matter what the poster is saying, nothing warrants this level of judgment. And this Pharisaic brand of pronouncing who is Catholic and who isn’t Catholic enough, it’s rubbish. Ashamed of this guy? Shame on you!:mad: This is horrible!

The Roman Catholic church DOES NOT ALLOW priests to be married. period.
How can one say that, when it is a given fact that there are indeed some men who are married that serve as priests in the Catholic Church, and they are most certainly not only allowed to be married but also, though married, ordained to be priests? I personally know one such gentleman (married and a Catholic priest); he married and became an Episcopal priest, then later converted and became a priest in the Catholic church. It is true that today the Catholic church does not allow priests to get married, but IT DOES allow priests to be married. And for those who believe that the early catholic Church was the same as the Catholic church of today, then it is most certainly true that the Catholic church in the past even allowed for priests to get married, for this was not restricted at all in the first centuries of the Church’s history.
The Roman Catholic church had not appointed homosexual clergy. They came in as pedophiles. Just like they do in your church.
Maybe I’m getting picky here, but your word choice and logic don’t match. It is hard to imagine in a church with as many pastors as the Catholic church has that not one of them was homosexual in orientation. I know that the Catholic church does not ordained people who who are known to be practicing homosexuals, but it stretches creduality beyond the point of believability to assert that not one of all the millions who have been appointed as clergy in the Catholic church have been homosexual with regards to orientation.
Your diversion from the truth of your own church is despicable. The Catholic church has the LOWEST molestation rate around. It is happening right in your OWN churches. All 30,000 denominations. Hell, there are even more murders from parishioners in a non-Catholic church. They just walk in and blast everyone. Why is that happening? Hmmm…:hmmm:
The rest of this stuff that you’ve thrown out above is just ad hominem garbage not worthy of a response.

Just trying to keep the thread on track. Sorry for any confusion.

Wrong back atcha…there were Biblical canons put together prior to the St. Jerome vulgate canonization that was nicely canonized under the auspice of the Holy Father. The Synod of Hippo and Councils of Carthage convened and canonized the scriptures under the guidance of St. Augustine. We also know that Origen had an early canon along with Eastern bishops as well. Just because a pope put a seal of approval stamp on the final canon doesn’t mean we never would’ve had one. That’s conjecture to be sure.
Already ahead of ya…when the Council of Carthage in 395 A.D. got together to compile the bible, they needed permission from the Roman Pontiff to put into the book, which is now your bible…get it? you can call it whatever you like. It is what it is.

I think the Pope still has and always will have the best words.

LOVE THE SINNER, HATE THE SIN!

I have been taught all of my life that you know what is right from wrong, And we all know what the bible says. While I love gay people not because they are gay, and love straight people not because they are straight they are all Gods People!

But just because I love them straight or gay I do not love their sin. And if they die in mortal sin they are going to hell. Its the truth. As much as people can disagree or condemn the Church the Church must teach the truth. And the truth is God made marriage a sacrament between 3 people, A Man, A woman and God. Unless God comes back and changes it. IT is what it is. It is called mortal sin! And the Church teaches if you die in mortal sin you did not die in the friendship of Christ.🤷

Are you suggesting that the Pope coined this phrase?
Did I say that?

I said and I will repeat again that the Popes comment on Gay People is Hate the Sin. Love the sinner.

So if you need me to define those words that to me seem to be quite clear are this. Love Gay People just like you love any other sinner. But just because you love them because they are also Gods people you do not and should not accept their sin.

Just because a person has this cross to carry means you should not hate this person. We all have weakness in us. But no matter what weakness we may be weighed down with we can overcome it by prayer and help from God. He promised us that in the bible.

So my point is beings that you seemed to miss it is Love Gay people, and pray for them, and thank God it is not you that have this heavy burden to carry, People do not choose to have gay feelings, but they do choose to react on them.

Just like a drunk wants a drink and cannot stop, this person needs to stay away from drinking then, for it is also a sin for them. Same with greed etc. We all have a weakness in us and that weakness if we do not control it can lead to sin.

I thank God it was not I, or my Son or daughter that had this cross to carry. And anyone who is as lucky as I should get on your hands and knees and thank him also.

But to also pray for the Parents, and familys whose lives has been damaged by this sin, and pray by the grace of God that he can help them all. Would you hate a person on drugs because they were in trouble. Would you expect God to hate them and throw them away. Same thing. There is no sin that cannot be overcome by GOD.

But just because a person has sin the CHurch will not and cannot turn them away. But the Church will also and cannot accept this sin and allow it, Which is what this thread is about.

Hate the sin, Love the sinner!

But back to the question at hand.

The Christian fath is not a religion of the book. It is the word of God and is still living today and will live forever.

We all know that scripture is how we come to know Christ.

But for a Person to say they are Christian they must obey the word of God Correct?

So as we know it is forbidden in the word of God to have 2 of the same sex marry?

SO how can a Church call itself a Christian Church and then turn around and disobey the word if God?🤷

But back to the question at hand.

Another lithmus test?

Get enough of these piled up on top of one another and pretty soon we’ll all fail one or another. Then, there won’t be any Christians left. At that point it will only be by the grace of God that any of us have any chance at all.

Thank you, Grace Seeker!! What time is your church service?👍

God Bless!

It seems to me that while we should be tolarent of homosexuals we should also not aprove of there behavior. god pronounced homosexuality a sin not becuse he is rule crazy but becuse sexual ethics keep the community healthy. it is about socital hygine. when people start sleeping around (hetro and homo) it brings sickness (aids, syphilis, ect,) and leads to the down fall of sociaty. every empire started to colapse when people started to ignore basic morals in favor of a freedom without responsablity or concern for other people. the actions someone takes has repercusions on others. that is why god created the moral law for us, not to control but to allow us freedom to live with peace and happiness without causing damage (physical and spiritual) to other human beings. as the church we should exept homosexuals into the community in the same way we exept any other sinner i.e. “you are welcome but we will not condone your continued sinning”
That is just my take it is what it is

Was that not the only it was in the first Place by the GRACE OF GOD. I mean what leads us but Grace and from Grace faith for goodness sake.

What do you think God came here for the People that knew him? OR did God come here for the sick? The sinners who needed a cure.

Did Jesus himself not say that the sick were not in need of a Dr?

Are you trying to say the GRACE of GOD leads a soul to sin? What really are you saying?

How about comming to mine. The Church that says God does not hate you. God loves you and wants you to come to the ligjht and get out of the darkness. . And will not accept the wrong! But will accept your confesssion for forgiviness. Forgiveness for Sin!

ANd when a Gay goes to a PRiest and say’s FORGIVE ME FATHER I HAVE SIN. And they repent that sin. and SIN NO MORE! Father says you are forgiven. ANd welcome my Child into the Light the Kingdom to heaven.

Yes that is the RCC and it welcomes SINNERS. JUST like Jesus Christ did! It haTes sin but prays for the sinner, and rejoices when the SON COMES HOME TO JESUS!

haTes sin. See the Cross!

So to get to the question at hand! What Christian denomination supports Gay Marriage if you consider the RCC a denom, No we do not!

But do we offer Love and support to Gay people, Yes we do. And by that Love and Support we show them that while we cannot support the sin they are commiting we can help them with the help our Prayers and the Help of the Holy spirit they can find a way to carry that heavy Cross they are asked to carry. And they will INDEED receive that reward from God in heaven above! By having the strength from the help of the Holy Spirit to confess that sin, And sin not more! Or to never give into the sin at all!

We all got em! But again I have to say I know the love and feelings I have for my Husband and he has for me, and I could only imagine what hell on earth it could be for each of us to know those feelings are not according to the plans of God. I thank him every day that it is not me he choose to carry that cross! And I pray and support those who have and are carrying that cross and have done it according to the will of God not Man

I have been to your church and it turns me away from the Lord’s Supper. Yes, I am a sinner, but there is God’s grace for me at the foot of the cross. Praise God! Only at your church have I ever been told them I am not welcomed to receive the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ through the eucharist. Jesus would never turn me away but would welcome me with open arms to His table.

God Bless!

If you are not a Catholic, you cannot receive the Eucharist. I don’t believe you were told you weren’t welcome, let alone be turned away, unless you went up to the priest and said “I am a wretched sinner”. it just doesn’t happen.

So if I believe what was taught back in 150 A.D., I should be good to go. 😉

God Bless!

You have it written on the back of your missalettes in the pews.
