‘Roman’ was a derogatory addition.
For some reason we adopted it… not sure why.

I am sure to say Roman Catholic because if you would search the internet for “Catholic Church” you would find so-called “catholic” church made up of people who split from the Roman rite. I personally know of a married man who had asked our bishop to do something special for him to be able to consecrate the host. Obviously NO was the answer. He became very bitter, left the true church and is now some kind of priest in another church. His wife remained committed to the true church.
Just my experience and opinion

The RCC has quietly accpeted much of the Reformation, althought they would never admit it.
What reformation? the reformation in the Church is not about new doctrines or new interpretation of SS like protestants did.

get it right please.

Romans 13:1-2,
** “Let everyone be subject to the higher authorities, for there exists no authority except from GOD, AND THOSE WHO EXIST HAVE BEEN APPOINTED BY GOD (6). Therefore, he who resists the AUTHORITY resists the ordinance of GOD; and THEY THAT RESIST BRING ON THEMSELVES CONDEMNATION.” **

It would be so nice if Catholics would quit with the “one true church” mantra. I wonder if Catholics ever stop to consider that of all the religions in the history of humanity they are a small minority and a relatively recent faith (considering the history of humans on Earth).

Furthermore, there have been and *are lots of religions that consider themselves the true way to God, and fortunately many that are willing to share that pathway. So Catholics are not in any way unique in that, but the constant banging of that drum gets a lot tedious for those of us who do not consider the Catholic church to be the “one true church”. Never, regardless of my past church affiliation, would I have even considered being so confrontational as to even suggest that my church was “the one true church”. It’s quite insulting to other faiths, like they belong to a false church. Such effrontery.

I am off the soap box now so fire away…

You used the words effrontery and confrontational as though you now know who I am as a person based on a small paragraph I wrote on this forum. I am a very humble person who is always careful as not to draw attention to myself because it is not about me. Christ established the proper way of worship and sacrifice and no amount of disbelief on your part makes what I wrote less true. You dont need to take my word for it. In fact, I ask you to read and study the New Testament and see where Jesus lets those who dont believe simply walk away.
Have a great day and please e-mail me any time you want. 👍

Which church is God’s true church? Is it the Roman Catholic Church?

I believe that it is the Roman Catholic Church.

What are your thoughts? Please support your opinions with facts. I will provide information, which all goes to support the fact that the Roman Catholic Church is the true Church, founded by Jesus Christ and the Church that God intended for man…

Peace 🙂

I believe that it is our “Catholic Church” as well. Christ did start a Church. We date all the way back to Christ and have worshipped hin all the way. We were not formed over politics, religion or the desire to divorce. We are protesting no one.

Hi Namesake,

Sounds to me that your problem isn’t with Catholicism specifically but with Christianity in general.

Why do you start a thread on Catholism in a forum devoted to nonCatholic religions?
This is still a Catholic Website. There is only one correct answer: The Catholic Church is the Church started by Jesus Christ in 33 AD.

🙂

One billion Catholics? That’s quite a large chunk of the earth’s population, eh.

The difference is real Grace. It’s here in plentitude. Like I’ve never experienced anywhere else, it is here. If you find His Family insulting…well, the Lord himself said that many would be offended because of Him.

Anywho, takes a bit of courage to jump on the soap box. =)

Whichever one people belong to, of course, because their leaders will tell them it is.

I’d suggest listening to a John Martignoni talk (free on the Bible Christian Society webpage) call “One Church”.
If you like scripture, you’ll want to listen to this short talk with a pen and notepad.
This talk will at least give you some understanding as to why Catholics have this ‘mantra’… if, that is, you *are *hear to learn and understand what people think and why.

Salut!

Whats more, I enjoy being Catholic! We are not just the Lords Church, but we are the original Anthony Robbins with answers, positive motivation and solution proccesses. All of this with 2,000 + years of credability! 🙂 👍

Yes, I think when you hear a question like “Which church is God’s true church?” you should expect to hear a lot of “It’s my church … No, it my church … No, it my church.”

Hopefully at least a few people give reasons/arguments.

Yes, we can see that you have no problem with any verse… as long as you can interpret it the way you want.

There is a correct teaching, and by reading what you wrote, you aren’t in line with it. It’s clear that Peter is the rock of the Church. For instance, why do you think Jesus changed Simon’s name to Kepha (rock) at that time?

You’ve already been shown to be incorrect when you said that “Christ never started a church.” When shown the Scripture by a Catholic, you ignore it and move on to another misinterpretation.

Please tell us where the Bible says you can interpret it for yourself, with right of final interpretation? Please also let us know what the “pillar and ground of truth” is.

Stick around with Catholics, and you’ll learn something about the truth of the Bible, from the Church that brought the Bible into the world. Sacred Scripture was written by Holy Spirit Inspired Catholics, for Catholics, and the books assembled into the Bible by the Catholic Church.
If God loves people so much why would He make it so darned hard to understand all this stuff? Wouldn’t it be a lot better to make things plain and simple?

And, if God created man (and we know that most people are just average in intellect) why not make the book He provided really easy for average people to read and understand? Now that would be a cool god.

… and we wish you would stop denying the truth, and join the one, true Church which is the only one that Jesus the Christ built.

Throughout history, people have turned toward false gods, there were false messiahs, there was a false queen of heaven, there have been many claims of the true Church, obviously many of which were overstating their position and one was not. None of these false practices or claims prohibit there from being still One True God, One True Messiah, One True Queen of Heaven, and One True Church. These are true realities that I hold dear, and for which I am eternally grateful to our Lord.

That you deny the truth, doesn’t change that these are true. It simply establishes your relationship to the truth as told by God.
