Where is your proof for Southern Baptists being Anti-Catholic?
Oh…Southern Baptists have a great many publications out there, some of which are very much anti-Catholic. Go to the SBC website and search “Catholic” and you will find quite a few publications (polite and not so polite) arguing against Catholic doctrines, traditions and scriptures. Then do a search for “Pope…” and the first item on the list is “They’re back…the Pope and indulgences.”
Interesting. I only read one of the articles, a very polite discussion of the differences between Catholicism and Southern Baptist beliefs. This actually agreed with the Catholics on the Trinity…but then got downright (albeit very politely) nasty about the apocrypha, Mary, the saints and a bunch of the traditions.
Now I don’t know enough about Catholicism to defend it against the authors of this piece, except that I know enough about how Catholics feel about Mary to understand that the authors got THAT wrong. I wonder what else they got wrong?
The thing is, there are more publications about Catholicism than there are about Mormonism–and nobody can claim that the SBC is not hostile to Mormonism.
What I’d like to see him do is provide proof that the LDS church (Mormonism) is ‘hostile’ to Catholics.
Like…where are the anti-Catholic publications?
Where are the picketers at Catholic events?
Where are the shouters at Catholic services?
Why, the Baptists provide these in plenty.
Don’t see any Mormons doing this sort of thing, though.
