Which is better: Mormonism or Islam?

Until 1978, blacks of African descent were prohibited from holding the LDS priesthood, which also barred them from leadership positions in the church and from the temple ordinances that LDS consider essential for salvation.

Mormon scriptures and prophets teach that Cain was cursed with a black skin, a flat nose and low intelligence, and that modern blacks are Cain’s descendants, sharing the same traits.

The Book of Mormon teaches that white skin is a sign of righteousness, and that God curses sinful people by darkening their skins so that they will be disgusting and white people won’t mix with them, and that when people of color embrace Mormonism, their skin color will lighten. The Mormon prophets have consistently echoed these beliefs.

The Pearl of Great Price (another Mormon scripture), teaches the same things.

The 1978 lifting of the ban on blacks in the priesthood arose the same way as the suspension of polygamy - legal pressure from the government which threatened their tax-exempt status.

These teachings and scriptures have never been denounced or de-canonized by the LDS church.

I’d call that overtly racist.

There is a name for violent vengeful Mormon people: “Danites” They have existed since very early in Mormonism. Read Jon Krakauer’s “Under the Banner of Heaven” if you don’t believe me that they still exist.

Brigham Young established a theocracy, and there are still LDS people who want to establish such a theocracy over the USA.

There are so many similarities it is amazing. Except Islam i s fiercely monotheistic, and LDS is not.
 
If you’re looking for a fair and just religion Islam isn’t it.

5:51 O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily God guideth not a people unjust.

66:9 O Prophet! make war on the infidels and hypocrites, and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their abode! and wretched the passage to it!

These are direct quotation’s from said Holy book. If that sounds like your cup of tea go for it.
 
Never said either is a fair or just religion. 😃 Just that we have to look at one of this nation’s own religions before calling Islam the source of all threats to the US. Percentage-wise (impossible to count) the radicals of both might be equal.

I said “what is?” and you are describing what was. I am not a fan of Mormonism, believe me but they have not been OVERTLY racist for a long time. That was and is my point…otherwise I agree with you in total…utterly with one exception. The Mormons dropped their attitude on blacks because BYU needed some on their teams.
 
The Mormon hierarchy has never disavowed these racist teachings and their scriptures still contain them. Just because the leadership is pretending to be inclusive doesn’t mean that they really are. Mormonism is still a race-based religion.

while they are certainly “less overt” in their racism, CURRENT LDS scriptures still contain blatantly racist doctrines.
 
Why is the LDS cult, as kookie and physically harmless as it is, being compared as an equal threat with Islam? It’s like comparing the common cold with AIDS. Islam is the scourge of civilization, the bane of freedom and an immediate threat to all other religions, true or otherwise. Maybe the author of the thread can enlighten me.

Now, as hurtfull and shocking as it is that some anonymous internet poster called me a clown I still managed to gather that you have yet to provide any actual evidence for your charges aghinst Islam.

Firstly, worldnetdaily is hardly a respectiable/objective source, that’d be like me posting a link from media matters or moveon.org etc.

Second, while I have little doubt the statistics are more or less accurate, that hardly justifies branding Islam the “Scourge of civilization”
