In our society, lust is a difficulty for many people. Funny thing is, we live in a “if it feels good do it society” then when you get caught doing it, everyone thinks you’re a disgusting pervert.

God save us.
I heartily agree. Of course, all the sins are problems for me occasionally (aren’t they for everyone?), but lust and anger are serious repeat offenders.
I suppose if I lived in, like, the 1700s lust wouldn’t be bad for me (probably wouldn’t be for anyone), but anger would be a problem any time period, and there’s a reason for that: 6 siblings, most of whom are boys significantly younger than me.😉 :banghead:
But deep down, I love 'em anyway:D .

I think I dabbled in each of them. For now, its anger sometimes and sloth sometimes, where does selfishness go?

Hi Fox, 🙂
I could be wrong, but I would say it would depend on the form the selfishness took. i.e. If you decide you can’t be bothered with housework today, you just want some ‘me’ time, then it takes the form of sloth; if someone wants you to do something today, but you had other plans, and you get angry about having to change your plans, well it takes the form of anger, etc.
If you want a general spot for it, I guess it could go in Pride, as we sometimes feel that what we want / need, is more important than what someone else wants / needs…unfortunately, this includes doing what God wants / needs us to do.

Peace be with you and your loved ones 🙂

I think I have trouble with all. Lust, not in the typical sense, but being a woman, wanting men to lust for me. Pride, definitely. Gluttony, you’d never know it, I am skinny. Sloth, for sure, I don’t want to do it, so I don’t, and that’s sloth. Anger, I seethe.

Lord, show me my faults.

Amen.

Boy, is this an easy one! The answer is, without question, “Lust”. I’m single, mid-40’s with an eye for the ladies, and I’m good at what I like. I suppose the worst thing is that I don’t regret my actions at all. I know that this is technically wrong according to church teachings, but this is what I am. I’m guessing I’m probably in trouble…

Peace.

All of the above except greed and lust. But anger is my worst!!! I have such a hot temper, boy, you wouldn’t want to be around me! One time I even punched a family member in the face, I was so angry!!! I didn’t mean to do it but I did, make sense huh? Boy, will I have to confess that one when my time comes for 1st confession!😦

Doesn’t pride, (arrogance) cover them all?

Greed = I want it all for me!
Anger = I cant believe you did that injustice to me!
Lust = **I **want you!
Gluttony = **I **want it until I puke!
Envy = I should have that, Why do **you **have that?
Sloth = Why should I work?
:DJames

Dr. Colossus:
No, they are not always mortal. All of us have vices which fall under one or more of the 7 Deadly (or, more correctly, Capital) Sins. They are called the Deadly or Captial sins because they directly oppose the Cardinal virtues. They are not mortal unless they are also grave matter and done with full knowledge and consent.
What exactly does that mean? Does it mean that you know it’s a sin and you want to do it? If you do commit it capitally, can you ever be forgiven?

I must admit corporal pride and corporal lust that just transferred intself into spiritual pride and spiritual lust. :crying:
What is spiritual lust?

Depression, or anger at myself for being so worthless and anger at God for the cross I am carrying which is too heavy.

Oof. Tough choice I’m sorry to say. ^.^;

I would have to say my days are smattered with an equal helping of all.

But that doesn’t make me a terrible person, right?
.

…Right?

Pride, in MHO, is the deadlist sin, because our own pride is what allows us to succumb to temptaion, which comes from within. Any time we sin, it is due to succumbing to a self-ish desire…and selfishness comes from pride. I firmly believe pride is the Root of all evil.

Could someone let me know where to get some good info on the seven deadly sins. I went to my local Catholic shop and they had nothing. And please don’t tell me the Cathecism. I looked already and couldn’t quite follow it.( maybe they need to write a Catholic Catechism for Dummies:rotfl: for people like me!!!)
Thanks.
Oh, I don’t order stuff on line either.

too bad…google.com…best resource for information in the world…just watch your sources…

for instance you wouldn’t hold a website called “www.ihateGod.com” as a credible site for information on God…

Look for Catholic based sites…

Too bad, because a website titled like that is a place I REALLY want to go to for info on how to draw closer to God! But seriously, I could READ it on a website, but I won’t order anything on line. I suppose, too, that if I found a(some) good book(s) I could have the bookstore order it for me. Thanks.

My downfall would be Lust, and it would be my biggest down fall especaly if I am single. But when I do have a GF, I do excercise Self Control.

I voted Pride my second and third choice would be gluttony and envy.
