First and foremost and without equal, our Blessed Mother, Mary.

Then:

St. Joseph, protector of families
St. Faustina for her bringing us the Divine Mercy devotion to His most Sacred Heart
St. Michael the Archangel, defeater of the enemy
St. Gianna for her courage
St. Philomena for her miracles
St. Maximillian Kolbe for his example of utter selflessness and Marian devotion
St. Margaret of Scotland because she was happily married and a model of a good and loving wife
St. Catherine Laboure for the Miraculous Medal (my patron saint)
St. Theresa for her Little Way
St. Katherine Drexel for her generosity
St. Patrick for converting the Irish people

St. Teresa of Avila…What a woman!

Absolutely!!

She was the first saint I ever met (aged 17, as a non-Catholic) and I couldn’t get over her blend of holiness and humaness, and humour. She just blew me away.
I “met” her through a book on yoga (the philosophy of) when I had abandoned the Christianity of my pre-teenage years. I’d turned to eastern religions, then to yoga, and this book said what a pity it was that many Christians were totally ignorant of the Christian mystics, and that they need not look outside their own back yards, so to speak … Christian mystics??? Who or what were they?
This book listed some: “St Teresa, St John of the Cross, St Bonaventure, St Bernard of Clairvaux …” So I borrowed the Collected Works of St Teresa from the library (3 vols.) and read the whole lot. OK, so I didn’t understand all of it, but I was filled
with a burning passion to love God, and walk across burning coals if need be to get to know Him better, since clearly I could do so WITHIN Christianity, even if (gulp!!) that might mean I had to become a Catholic to find the fulness of truth.
So — thanks, dear St Teresa - I can’t wait to meet you in heaven! 😃

A Te numquam separari permittas - never let me be separated from You
