while confessing, is the presence of a priest required?

Ask yourself this: Why would Jesus have started a Church, if He didn’t want us to be members of it, or if He thought any church would do as long as they believe in Him, or something resembling Him? And why would He have established the Sacraments, if He didn’t want us to partake of them?

Just for something to do, to kill time for three years while waiting to be crucified? 🤷
Oh I am a member of His church. You just do not believe it. I cant change that
And in no way do I believe in someone that resembles Jesus
I believe in the one true God Jesus Christ you do 👍

everything about the sacraments we do, we just do not call them sacraments

You will not even find the word Sacrament in the bible

just saying

Nor the word “Bible” nor the word “Trinity,” nor “hypostatic union” or “Incarnation” but you can’t be a Christian without believing in these things, either. 🙂

wow Reuben God bless you, I never expected you to post. Glad you did. You are a true example for others to follow. That is a prayer from deep in your heart. Rest at ease tonight Brother …May the Lord break the chains … set you free … …
Thanks bro. He has broken the chains; he has taken away my sorrow … 🙂 Glory be to God.

And that remind me later in the day … about the Novena and the Confession. For I need to always put myself at the foot of the cross, receive the cleansing by the blood of the Lamb, be set free, again and again, to rise up for arise Israel, for the Lord hath come.

Let his name be praised. Alleluia.👍

Do you think we are all going to be worshiping in Heaven differently? Are we going to be divided into denomination? I don’t have the authority to say who does and doesn’t make it to Heaven, but I do think that we will all be praising God the same, true way.
Hmmm, I am not sure about that.

I can only Imagine what it will be like …

Listen to this song …

May all hear your wonderful testimony

That is what it is all about

Praise God

Does it strike anyone else that there is a whole lot more “I” than “you” in that prayer? (And no “we” at all, that I could find.)
I couldn’t view the link. I don’t know what went wrong. lol.

I am really sorry you believe that…I bet you will not be able to convince Reuben that I am not Christian

Look at his testimony on this thread…

Praise the good Lord

When you are in confession don’t you say “I” too?
Instead of questioning try to understand why the prayer is being said

I know why, I will let Reuben tell you if he desires to
It is a pretty song, though. 🙂
yes it is pretty, my favorite

I believe that protestants are Christian. I just don’t believe they are doing it properly, obviously.

Uh oh. … I do not have this in mind when I wrote the post. And I don’t really keep up with the whole conversation, to be honest. I am just trying to explain the Confession. It is not really a testimony though it is a testimony but really it is saying personal sharing but not enough to expound the whole doctrine. Hope something can be made of that. :o

according to your advice I am in the wrong church…oh well see you in paradise

I am glad you are not God
I know you do not mean this but we are encouraged and I often encouraged others to see the Jesus that is in us, in each individual, for there is the Jesus in us. We need to look for that when we see a person, sometimes to let it be a mirror image of us. The Jesus in him no matter what he is.

We used to sing this song in the younger days:
I am so glad I have Jesus
I am so glad I have Jesus
I am so glad I have Jesus,
Alleluia praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, Amen, Amen
Praise the Lord, Amen, Amen
Praise the Lord, Amen, Amen,
Alleluia praise the Lord.

In singing that I acknowledge that Jesus is in me and when we sing it together, we also acknowledge that Jesus is in them too.

according to your advice I am in the wrong church…
All I said is those who cannot find Christian brothers who are able to forgive or retain sins must be in the wrong Church since Christ clearly gave this function to His Church’s ambassadors. You are the one that came to the conclusion that your Church does not have such ambassadors, and that you are therefore in the wrong church.
oh well see you in paradise
I and pray and hope we both make it; however, neither of us will make it if we ignore the Truth and the pillar of Truth which is the Church. As Christ said those who will not listen to the Church are like the heathen and the publican.

[BIBLEDRB]matthew 18:15-17[/BIBLEDRB]

Note Christ says Church, as in one Church, which is visible, and which has the authority to settle desputes regarding the Faith.
I am glad you are not God
I’m also glad I’m not God. If I was God I would just absolve myself; and yet it is this very understanding that I’m not God and that I need Him for absolution and healing is why I go to confession. 👍

Well…where does it also say in the Bible…to know the truth…to read the Bible?

Where does it say in the Bible…to know the truth…the individual is to interpret it for oneself?
