You may do what you wish, but I always choose to respond to misrepresentation of my Church.

I see no principled basis for you refusing to explain your statements, given that you are a Priest, and that your only justification so far for refusing an answer is “Pro_universal won’t say muhammad is a bad man.” That is infantile and does not suit your station as a Priest, if you are in fact a Priest.

look at immigrants or illegal immigrants… they are treatedlike second or third class citizens. look at africans and indians in europe for hundreds of years. they were treated like nobody. you guys act like you are the savior of freedom and equal treatment, when women werent even allowed to vote until recently or own properties. look at the Crusades, spanish inquisition, etc.
europe raped and pillaged everything in its way and now talks about freedom, what a joke.
Quran also says to “Fight in the way of Allah, but do not transgress any limits” and I would imagine, killing somebody just MIGHT transgress limits.
and whats wrong with Jizya? they had to pay that because they did not pay Zakat which all Muslims did. its tax. we are taxed here too, so what?

I don’t know about africans, I do know about Indians. Most Indians who emigrated have done very well for themselves. Many of them appear in Forbes list of the richest people…No I don’t think they complain too much about second class treatment.

Do you honestly believe that Muslims want to live peacefully with the rest of the world? One of our Muslim members on this forum, jcaz, has stated that Islam should be spread by war if necessary! Does that mean anything to you?

actually there are American Indians as well as Indian Indians… you should know your history better… they were persecuted for hundreds of years… they were brought as slaves to South Africa and the Caribbean… know your history
 
does anybody here PERSONALLY know any Muslims? or anybody that were PERSONALLY persecuted under ISLAM?
My best friend was Christian when I lived in my country and I was taught to respect him and his beliefs…and i come from a Muslim country.

why? is it really hard for you to believe that there are open minded Catholics?
people like Pro_Universal will bring peace to this world. if a fundie comes to this forum and sees most of your comments, his hatred for non Muslims will be greater because most of you arent showing any understanding or compassion.

I have known some muslims. One was a good friend, but he didn’t practice Islam at all. Some have been nice. One I thought was until I found out what he really thought about Christians. It was a learning experience to think you knew someone and really didn’t. I knew another who said if his brother, who he claimed to love, converted to Christianity he would kill him. And he was a MODERATE!

This is ironic, given muslim’s comment above. How do you think any muslims who read this board and read your diatribes will feel about christianity, if you’re the only christian they get to know? Would they be wrong to think “Christians hate us, and will never let us practice our religion in peace”?

I hope the muslims who read this thread will notice that cestusdei, though he claims to be a priest, can bring no authority to support his attacks on islam. He does not represent the teaching of our Church.

no i am open minded and i know nice Christians…well I dont really know many really practicing Christians here because most people in NYC arent religious at all… but like i mentioned before, my best friend was Christian… i thought I was supposed to hate him because he is a Christian when I started to grow up and then i was taught by my Muslim parents and Muslim teacher that you are not suposed to hate or dislike anybody and its unIslamic.
Unfortunately, a lot of Muslims especially in Islamic countries come to websites like these and sees it full of hatred and thats their conception of Christians.

And it’s a shame that either they see Christians on the news insulting their religion, or they see Christians in uniforms with rifles, or they see english letters on the scraps of bombs dropped on their homes.

Attacks on muslims are reaching tragic proportions, and I think it is imperative for christians to refuse to participate any further.

It would help matters if Islamic leaders stop spreading their messages of hate and come out as a whole and policy to condemn Al Queda.

yeah another HUGE misconception they have is that…they think anybody thats Western is automatically Christian eventhough I would say msot of the Western world is Christian by name only.

There homelands have been under attack since before Osama Bin Laden was born. I do not think this has anything to do with it, though Osama bin Laden certainly does fuel hatred against muslims with his evil deeds.

But the basic condition of warfare and insult has been going on for a lot longer than since 2001, and I think we in America especially have to be more sensitive to this fact. More understanding will help us to understand why there is so much anger, and how to deal with it.

That’s a two way street. Understanding has to come from the Islamic world as well, or else it’s a pointless gesture and won’t get anywhere.

Sure, but how do you propose to foster understanding in the Muslim world? By bashing muslims, by publishing offensive cartoons, or by dropping more bombs?

The above three are what we’ve shown to them for a century now, and it’s certainly a failure. How about we try real understanding and acceptance of their beliefs and culture instead?

Right now it’s a paradox situation: what came first, the chicken or the egg? On the one hand, there’s the anti-Muslim attitude, which seems to cause extremist terrorism which inflames even more anti-Muslim attitude…and so on and so on.

Ideally, both would stop provoking the other, but one side might have to take the lead, trusting the other side not to continue on its own course of action.
