okay, if you say so.🙂
Mathematically there is no distortion by racism or anything else if 90% of crimes are committed by Group B and thus 90% of arrests are from Group B as well.

That is called ‘USE OF REASON’. 😃

i am, now that you’ve told me i can’t trust myself to recognize it.
To the man who only has a hammer, every problem is a nail.

To the liberals who only find racism inherently evil every problem is thus racism.

Glad to see that you are learning. 👍
Had a friend who was an ace at speed reading.

His only problem was retention of what he had read.

Retention and successful improve from what is retained is a critical threshold in learning that I think represents real genuine learning instead of rote memorization.

You are right: every ethnic group does have negative stereotypes. However, one does not often act on those stereotypes in the form of discriminatory behavior. In the case of African Americans, I believe there is more of a tendency to act on those stereotypes than is true of many other ethnic groups. Today the discrimination against African Americans is much less than it used to be, largely due to nondiscrimination laws, as well as changes in attitude; nonetheless, it still exists.

What evidence do you have that White people, as a group, are discriminated against in the court system? Poor people, yes, but not explicitly because they are White. In the case of being both poor AND Black, however, I think there may be a compounding effect.
The Civil Rights Act was passed 50 years ago. Blacks have every opportunity to avail themselves of opportunities in every field, and many millions do. But the racialist bilge spewing from the mouths of the Farrakhans, Sharptons, DiBlasios, Holders and Obamas still attracts massive audiences. When will this end? Ever?

Not as long as the leadership can make money on it, and they will make money on it as long as the government has quotas and racial set-asides for contracts.

I agree that Blacks have so many more opportunities today than in the past, and I’m sure most Blacks, particularly those who have lived through the period of outright discrimination, would also agree. However, if the nondiscrimination laws, including those applicable to fair housing, equal employment, voting rights, and so forth, were dismantled or weakened, I wonder whether modern-day society is ready, even 50 years later, to treat African Americans equally, although it may seem to you and others that society has gone overboard in giving them, as well as other minorities, fair treatment and then some.

If you are of a mind that thinks Group B commits most of the crimes, you will be keeping a close eye on members of that group while ignoring members of other groups. The result is you will more likely catch members of Group B committing crimes which will in turn reinforce your bias.

Members of group A may be committing more crimes but since you are not paying as much attention to them, you won’t be catching them committing crimes. In short you will only see what you expect to see.

Profiling works to a limited extent but it is not foolproof.

I can give you a specific example. A friend of mine and I were browsing in a store. We overheard the store owner instruct one of his clerks to follow us around because we were not white and we could shoplift. The clerk followed us around but since we did not shoplift they did not catch anyone. In the meantime, we have observed several white people shoplift and walk out the store. They were not caught. Chances are, a nonwhite person could shoplift next time get caught and reinforce the owner’s belief that only nonwhite people shoplift.

That’s why if one is going to profile it should not be based only on race or color (if at all) but primarily on suspicious behavior. That’s the way the Israelis do it.

Actually, they were. You caught them. But for some reason, you didn’t report them. 🤷

Not if non-white people who catch white people shoplifting mention the fact to the owner. 🙂

if i heard a shop owner tell an employee to follow me around, i wouldn’t mention if i saw someone shoplifting either. 😉
