So we are now determining which country is better by how much slower it is killing babies than other countries?
I never thought I’d actually look forward to someone invoking Godwin’s Law on a thread.
Good Catholics should learn how to discern like God:So we are now determining which country is better by how much slower it is killing babies than other countries?I never thought I’d actually look forward to someone invoking Godwin’s Law on a thread.
Think of it this way. It is American to recognize the value of competition to achieve a goal. Right now Russia has momentum. I have no problem trying to win the killing babies slower competition. So we are now determining which country is better by how much slower it is killing babies than other countries?I never thought I’d actually look forward to someone invoking Godwin’s Law on a thread.
No. President Putin has promised the Russian Orthodox Church to protect Christians in the Middle East and this is a factor in Russia’s support for Assad. See (slide down a bit from the top):-I don’t know who Putin personally supports in Syria, but his government is supporting the Syrian government, not the Syrian Christians.
Well, are you in favor of the pro-homosexual propaganda in the grade school sex education classes? This is basically sending a message that same sex marriage is just fine, IMHO.There are many states that still do not allow it, moreover, I never said the U.S. was some sort of moral utopia, but it is not morally bankrupt either (and I sure as heck will not put Russia on a pedestal as some of you have). And Putin has done more than outlawed pro-homosexual propaganda vis a vis children in school, i.e., this has essentially gagged homosexuals from holding public demonstrations/assemblies (whenever a government does this people should be worried, i.e., who knows who’ll be next).
p.s. Wasn’t the Nazi platform anti-gay (although I know that there were those in the Nazi party that were homosexuals)?
Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB)I would love to read up on this more. Could you point me to some information?
The Canada child tax benefit is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help them with the cost of raising children under age 18. The CCTB may include the
cra-arc.gc.ca/bnfts/cctb/menu-eng.html.National child benefit supplement
.Child disability benefit
Of course, I’m not, i.e. I’ve already said that I do not like the way education is being used to promulgate propaganda. I detest it, in fact, if and when I do have children, I will homeschool them.Well, are you in favor of the pro-homosexual propaganda in the grade school sex education classes? I think it is a good thing that Putin has outlawed this in Russia. But in the USA, there is such propaganda on the grade school level.Of course, I’m not, i.e. I’ve already said that I do not like the way education is being used to promulgate propaganda. I detest it, in fact, if and when I do have children, I will homeschool them.
OH yes, I agree…this is clear if you pay attention to court cases, judges often side with prosecution/state. Also kind of strange how many jury trials result in guilty verdicts too. What you are describing sounds like the USA to me.The poster accused the government of promulgating discrimination. I assume of homosexuals. I just want to know the official policy of the government.
One could certainly make the argument that in the USA if you are a conservative group or journalist the IRS has been sent out to shut you down. While that may not be the “policy” of the government it has happened. Our gov. is collecting phone call data, and using intimidation to silence it’s people. Hospitals are threatened to be shut down if they do not deny their faith. Before we point out Russia’s problem of collusion between judges and prosecution perhaps we should cut the gov a little slack.
I want to know where the government promulgates discrimination.
Cool. Thanks!
I suppose you could. But you might not want to play so fast and loose with the word “discrimination”Perhaps someone should conduct a poll of who would prefer to live in the US with its same sex marriage and civil rights for gays vs who would prefer Russia with its legal discrimination against gays.
It would also be interesting to see who has actually spent any time living in Russia and who is basing their opinion on the current conservative infatuation with Putin.Perhaps someone should conduct a poll of who would prefer to live in the US with its same sex marriage and civil rights for gays vs who would prefer Russia with its legal discrimination against gays.
Well that goes both ways. How many people saying how bad it is have spent any time living in Russia. It would also be interesting to see who has actually spent any time living in Russia and who is basing their opinion on the current conservative infatuation with Putin.
Notwithstanding the issue of language, I expect most Americans would not want to live in a country like Russia because of the violence. However, one is really only safer if they have actually made it out of the womb, just saying.Perhaps someone should conduct a poll of who would prefer to live in the US with its same sex marriage and civil rights for gays vs who would prefer Russia with its legal discrimination against gays.
You might be interested in Dmitry Orlov who was living in the US during the Soviet collapse and traveled frequently to Russia as it was collapsing. His experiences have made him an expert on collapse. It would also be interesting to see who has actually spent any time living in Russia and who is basing their opinion on the current conservative infatuation with Putin.
History has taught us when their is a great deal of dissent between the classes that problems are not far off. Obama is creating and expanding a poor class base at the expense of the middle and rich classes. It is only sheer stupidity to believe that this can have a good long term outcome given the facts that overly socialist systems cannot sustain themselves. You might be interested in Dmitry Orlov who was living in the US during the Soviet collapse and traveled frequently to Russia as it was collapsing. His experiences have made him an expert on collapse.
Waring: He believes that the US will have a similar collapse as Russia and has written several books on the subject.
I think I’ll just go with the most Russian thing I can think of, a 3-day vodka bingeWell that goes both ways. How many people saying how bad it is have spent any time living in Russia.
I think some of you have seen RockyIV and Red Dawn one to many times.
We could have a marathon. Rocky IV (the best one) Red Dawn (the old one) Rocky and Bullwinkle show. (moose and squirril) James (Bond connery) And top it off with the always lovable and knowledgeable Yakov Smirnoff ( In Russia, Chicken eats you!)
Top it off with a SNL skit from two weeks ago
Actually this is Funny!

I suppose the infatuation goes both ways.
There is solid agreement that the US is among the top most violent counties in the world for many reasons.Notwithstanding the issue of language, I expect most Americans would not want to live in a country like Russia because of the violence. However, one is really only safer if they have actually made it out of the womb, just saying.
BTW, our murder rate in God’s eyes is around 350 murders per 100,000 inhabitants, which makes us one of the most violent countries in the world. Paz.
Have you seen the Americans on FX? Holy cow! It is like the sopranos except instead of rooting for the mob you root for the russian spies. The second season is starting next month. The first was amazing! It is set in the cold war era 1980s with Reagan as Prez. It is pretty cool cloak and dagger stuff.I think I’ll just go with the most Russian thing I can think of, a 3-day vodka binge
And I know that I have an unhealthy infatuation with all things Russian. Even as a child I pulled for Ivan Drago over Rocky. But like I said, it is easier to love Russia from a good distance.
