Without Mickey Mouse and Daffy Duck and the all the residents of the state cemetery being able to actually produce IDS and becoming disenfranchised as a result, Democrats will have lost a big chunk of their traditional voting block.

this apparently is a very big worry for many libs.

You are absolutely right about what I worry it will happen. I don’t think they will try to overthrow the government, but there could be riots and people could get hurt. That doesn’t worry you? 🤷

However, when you try to blame Democrats, you are mixing up correlation with causation:

Minorities (especially African Americans), students, the poor and the elderly are more likely to be disenfranchised and more likely to vote Democratic, but being a Democrat does not make you disenfranchised any more than it makes you an African American, a student, poor (although some would argue with this) or elderly. These groups do not even represent the majority of Democratic voters. There may even be some Republicans in the mix.

I don’t think there is any need to worry about the elderly, but the other groups might get angry about it. I don’t think that will be pretty. Riots erupt from pent up anger - and there are a lot of angry people out there.
 
Indeed, riots erupted in 1917, and look what that brought–tyrrany, death, and destruction. Riots are a relative of anarachy, and anarchy ends in tyranny.

No. I think people have no problem getting a picture ID for just about everything else in life. I don’t believe there will be riots.

So, African Americans are less likely to have picture ID? Do you have some evidence of that? It seems a bit odd to me. You’re right about the elderly not being a problem…they typically have ID by that age in their life. The only group I can see that would be affected would be those who have recently turned 18 and haven’t tried to get a driver license or other ID. FYI…those are typically the young people who don’t vote either.

It would seem that this time is is community activist POTUS Obama and Dems that are poising themselves to maximize any advantage.

Nothing particularly liberal about that, although as a leftist tactic, it is expected.

How do you do that? If someone wants to get elected, he has to get his name and message before the voters. How does he do that? He advertises. Advertising costs money.
 
American demonstrators tried to protest the use of drones and the exhibit, “Military Unmanned Aerial Vehicles,” that covers the history of unmanned aircraft and their current use as offensive weapons. However, at least one protestor was pepper sprayed by the police. But is it moral or ethical to kill people by remote control? And people on the ground are absolutely helpless as there is no way for them to fight back against an enemy who is launching the attack sitting in front of a computer in the USA thousands of miles away.

These protesters say they want jobs, ostensibly so they can earn money. I’d bet anything they don’t know that money doesn’t exist until it is borrowed.

Rachel Maddow has been consistently reporting about Republican efforts to limit people’s right to vote. You may not like her liberal politics, but her reporting is generally quite accurate. Here is a recent segment she did on the concerted effort by Republicans to “protect the purity of the ballot box”. She makes the case better than I can:

Like Maddow says, “Voting is a federal right”. I don’t think it is a coincidence that these new laws are being passed in every state where Republicans have a majority. It can only be an organized effort by the national Republican party.

This is voter suppression, plain and simple. If Democrats were passing laws that would effectively take away people’s guns like this, the NRA would be going apoplectic.

No. It’s isn’t voter suppression. Asking for people to identify themselves is not trampling on voter’s rights. Apparently, the Supreme Court has already ruled on that in a case in Indiana.

The very idea that the rhetoric is about ‘purity’ and Rachel Maddow;s show brings up that this is worse than the time of Jim Crowe just demonstrates what Herman Caine is telling us.
This is a case of brainwashing, pure and simple, where the idea is planted time and time again that a vote for a Republican is a vote for a racist scum.

But like Bellesbane’s insinuation that American conservatives are the far right, and all that implies, it is par for the course that she pulls out the racism card big time this time around.

That there is every indication that she knows this is all rhetoric though, as she has indicated above, there is not even the excuse of brainwashing in this instance.

Democrats are afraid if you cant vote 10 times and the dead cant vote… then they will have a hard time winning any election.

Because if (white) liberals really have such a low opinion of blacks and minorities where they would think that they are would actually lack the ability to do something as basic as getting ID, there are no words to describe…

and plenty of stories about multiple votes from one person.

Its just an excuse they use… but its insulting to minorities. They run their lives just like everyone else… and there is no way a person in 2011 can go through life without an ID.

When Georgia was trying to get voter id law, they even proposed FREE ID’s and that wasnt even good enough for democrats.

I don’t see the documentation of someone who has voted ten times. Who was he, and when did this occur?
