The 81yo Spanish man seriously beaten and robbed for $30.00 was very telling. Thats the message everyone did catch in this area.

What Student Loans have to do with this is beyond me. We “all” had/have those. None of us were granted instant gratification. And you bought a lemon??? Great indication of computer skills. 🤷

Maybe the cafeteria conversations ought to be educational instead of a refection of ignorance combined with a militant attitude. Seems like that confirms each other’s “worst” thinking. Stay home, study, before you wind up in prison wishing you did.

Makes me wonder “what” you actually are doing in school.

Peace

That may look weird to you, but nothing you mention rises to the level of deserving the sort of hostility against these protesters that is running rampant on this forum.

I have the same exact reaction to the way Evangelical Christians talk and behave - but I don’t go around attacking them for their mannerisms. However, I will attack their ideas - especially the ones that are anti-Catholic or conflict with Catholic views of social and economic justice.

Here is an interesting graphic that compares what the OWS protesters to the Tea Party:

occupywallst.org/forum/what-occupy-wall-street-wants-vs-what-the-tea-part/
The left who has been calling the tea party every name in the book is now trying to convince people we are all on the same side? The tea party wants the same as the communists urinated on wallstreet? Yeah… good luck with that.

Sounds to me like a desperate attempt to gain legitimacy.

I didn’t, I had one of those “jobs that Americans won’t do” and paid cash for my college education.

Ah… its an Obama love fest…

Working families party (communists) paying people to protest, unions paying people to hold signs who dont speak english and cant even read the signs provided and now sign the democrat petition. Real grass roots there…

PETITION: I Stand with #OccupyWallStreet

Protestors are assembling in New York and around the country to let billionaires, big oil and big bankers know that we’re not going to let the richest 1% force draconian economic policies and massive cuts to crucial programs on Main Street Americans.

Out-of-touch Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor said he is “increasingly concerned by the growing mobs.” Mobs? That must be what Republicans refer to as the middle class, or maybe the millions of unemployed Americans across the country.

As Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters, “The message of the American people is that no longer will the recklessness of some on Wall Street cause massive joblessness on Main Street…”

Help us send a message straight to Eric Cantor, Speaker Boehner, and the rest of reckless Republican leadership in Congress:

Sign our petition right now and help us reach 100,000 strong standing with #OccupyWallStreet protestors across the country >>

Now imagine what it must be like for a high school graduate with NO college degree to get a job. How is he or she going to compete with your friend for those “entry level” positions that conservatives claim is the first step up the ladder?

An entry level job is not going to help our college students get out of debt - so they are screwed. A high school graduate is not going to get an entry level job, because they are all being taken by college graduates desperate for any kind of work - so they are screwed.

The old conservative pathways to success have evaporated due to the unregulated greed and stupidity of Wall Street. It’s a mess for everyone - expect the Wall Street bankers and the 1% who created the crisis in the first place. They are back in business and making a bundle.

I hope this turns into a real revolution. 👍
Why don’t they all just lay down in front of a bus for goodness sake???

Here’s a concept: I actually WORKED my way through college, for the most part. I did get a small grant for about 18 mos. but other than that, I funded myself through savings and from working while I went to school. No one owes me a darn thing and I wouldn’t want anything handed to me. Those people can find jobs and if they can’t, they can make a job. All the whining I am hearing out of people these days makes me SICK to death! This country has been through harder times than these and people still had the fortitude to do what they could to keep working, being productive, and feeding their families.

What end do you think the revolution is going to have? Do you want “the rich” to have their property taken away and given to those who haven’t worked for it? How has that worked in other countries when it’s been tried?

There it is, I was fortunate, I went on a full athletic scholarship, but free wasn’t free. And with graduate school I still ended up paying off 20-thousand. I know others who have paid off a 100-thousand. Fact is they all payed and earned their own way in one way or another. Nothing is free.

If you chose to drop out of school or not attend college. what in the world does that have to do with reality? Go back to school, go to a state Jr College where the expense is low. Earn a GED if need be. But take full responsibility for the position you find yourself in. No-one owes you anything. And acting in any way but humility won’t get you any help.

The violence in demonstration is unacceptable. Always has been, always will be. Join the volunteer army you want to entertain your ideas of violence and they will pay you. Make a career out of it and be educated their for free. They were handing out a 40-thousand dollar bonus just for signing up and completing your tour in 09:shrug: Right don’t want that, but will assault 81 yo seniors? Insulting behavior is what it is.

Were actually going to get out of this mess in peace, by thinking and clearly understanding each candidates position.

You want change? Than pay attention to who you vote for. Dr Kings family and the CC want to stop abortion. They are doing that in PEACE. Thats how real change occurs. Know the facts and present them in PEACE.

Not some fantasy of illusion on how life should be.

You noticed that too? I never knew that a “movement” could be paid for unless it involved a trip to the pharmacy for some Ex-Lax.

Nancy Pelosi voted for and railed for the passing of the Wall Street bail out claiming under her watchful eye it would not cost the taxpayers anything in the end. Where are these morons getting their information - CNN?

The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (the Wall Street Bail Out Bill) was written by democrats and passed largely by democrats.

What an inconvenient truth! But don’t you know, the Republicans put them up to it!!

So Obama voters are protesting the same people who bankrolled Obama?

news.yahoo.com/obama-attacks-banks-while-raking-wall-street-dough-044804642.html

Despite his rhetorical attacks on Wall Street, a study by the Sunlight Foundation’s Influence Project shows that President Barack Obama has received more money from Wall Street than any other politician over the past 20 years, including former President George W. Bush.

In 2008, Wall Street’s largesse accounted for 20 percent of Obama’s total take, according to Reuters.

Yes, a bullhorn is “amplified sound” - the protesters on Wall Street were prohibited from using them - so they created the “human microphone” so their voices could be heard…
The OWS folks were not prohibited from using amplification–one needs a permit to use amplification. Did they even apply for that permit?

I don’t believe that everyone who protests the bailout of the fat cats of wall street or the amount of money spent on wars, or the use of drones, or the amount of money spent on 1000 overseas military bases, is in favor of assaulting 81 year old seniors. Many people in the movement are quite sympathetic to the plight of the elderly and would not want to hurt or assault them in any way.

Well… in the case of Boston, it all depends if you are left wing… then you dont need permits.

Code:
*Organizers of the Occupy Boston tent city in Dewey Square have never sought nor received any permits from the state, the city or the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, which controls the property.
I’m sure the Democrats that control the state and city just waive these requirements all the time. You know, I bet they even do it for groups that don’t agree with their worldview.
*Christen Varley, spokeswoman for the Greater Boston Tea Party, said she’s “miffed” by the laissez-faire attitude of city and state officials. The Greenway has provided electricity to the protesters, while other groups, such as the Tea Party, have to pay for power at events, she said.*

Judging by the news headlines Occupy Wall Street looks doomed to fail.

Does anyone know exactly what it is that they are supposed to be protesting? I though they were protesting the American system of banking, but then we have a bunch of them up here in Calgary protesting Canadian banks.

Are they just protesting for the sake of protesting, or what? 🤷

I guess they’re protesting against greed. That’s why the want free stuff. Free food. Free condoms. Just call it Wallstock.

The protests are designed to detract from the Tea Party issues of the lack of justice in:
  1. raising taxes on the strong families who can resist temptation to give more to help with the sequelae of those who have been weakened by the liberal media’s glorification of sex, drugs, and neanderthalic violence, all of which creates MORE dependents
  2. watching the liberal media profit grossly from the destruction of others, then taxing the innocent general populace for the sequelae
  3. raising taxes on the more responsible to pay for the less responsible, while the liberal media increases it’s efforts to place more road blocks in their way
  4. raising taxes on those who can handle their pleasure in order to pay for the sequelae of those who can’t handle their pleasure
5 following the marxist plan where men have become weakened by the liberal media into feelgoodism to the point of running away from responsible fatherhood, then dishing the financial responsibility by doubly taxing married parents, while convincing the trained monkeys to beg for more liberal distractions to true love and family in order to make the problems WORSE

Not really because Wall street demands capitalism and unfairness for everybody except themselves. For themselves they demand socialist government bailouts of a trillion dollars and at the same time they demand the luxury of million dollar bonuses which are given in recognition of their efforts to make money by flipping trades, buying and selling debt and derivatives, all of which help to bring down the American economy.
That’s it in a nutshell.
