$25 Billion.

CBO estimate of the cost of the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009”, a bailout for public service unions, and bankrupt states:

$718 Billion by the end of 2011.

Why are they protesting one, and not the other?

Things were bad, and FDR’s policies made people’s miseries last longer than they should have. Obama’s policies are similar and are having a similar effect.

Back then people worked to get paid. Today people get paid not to work.

That is a good question. How come the angry mob is going after Solyndra and the like with pitch forks?

I’ve heard business owners complain about the uncertainty of inflation, taxes, Obamacare, Cap’n’tax, etc.
 
Who else has the time to protest? Some of us college students have the burden of having to work as well as study.

I’ve always been surprised that more weakthy youngsters haven’t just taken to the logic of Warren Buffet’s maxim: “There is indeed a class war… and my class is winning.” At any rate, I’m sure some day many of them will be well-paid CEOs, professors, lawyers, and will fondly remember the fun they had in their youth rebelling against the establishment they were destined to become a part of. Not exactly sans-cu-lottes.

I totally agree. If you live in America, your one of the luckiest people in the world. If you don’t like the country, have the courage/guts to move.

I would not agree with that.
But why does Hillary go around telling Syria and other foreign countries to allow protests in the streets, but apparently it is not OK for Americans to protest the growing gap between rich and poor?

There is no need to starve or die in the streets in the USA. You wouldn’t believe the food that is thrown out at the “homeless” where I volunteer. Technically the people there aren’t homeless, though, because that’s where they live.

Why should any American citizen move just to appease the right-wingers? If people believe that there are things wrong with the U.S. be they liberals or conservatives, they have the right to protest and to try to change things. :mad:

Who said it was to appease right-wingers (what ever that means). It was simply a statement to try living somewhere where else if one hates living here so much.

There are children everywhere in the U.S. who go hungry every night, kids as well as their parents who don’t get enough to eat, who don’t have adequate clothing, who suffer dreadfully in the winter time. And they are more than 1%!!

Hey Rich.

Of course they have the right to protest. No one is saying they don’t, unless they get violent.

I think if the place as immoral and ethically corrupt as some (usually-key word, usually) leftists, I would think they have no choice but to leave it! Would you stay in a job that was ethically corrupt and immoral?
