Jesus is the ONLY way, and you can only know he is THE CHRIST by the Holy Spirit. Sad, the Catholics never teach about this.
Sorry BOMC, Peter knew Jesus was christ before the Holy Spirit was given to us, you need to spend more time on the nt less on thebom

Try reading the OT, the Spirit was live and well. Are you RC, cause you sound like a half-breed evangelical.

Jusdt because you dont agree with me dont call me bad names! evangelical indeed, I am Catholic of the Roman variety.

And I repeat that you have the timing wrong with Peter, the only mention of the holy spirit is in the new testamont and Jesus says he will give us a replacement for him leaving basically, I am of course paraphraasing. no mention before and when Jesus says the holy spirit he says in the future, not the past, something that will come to replace him when he is gone.

You keep trying to characterize everybody
cause you sound like a half-breed evangelical.
thus, here you are, a very unsettled soul.
Somewhere in your life you were accused of lacking faith.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: (Matthew 7:2)
You answer that question in an “around-about” fashion, you’re going to be judged in an “around-about” fashion.
Because quite frankly, I think I am speaking to the deaf, and we need to know if you can even hear
we should question you on your experience of discernment
You sure got a lot to say about everybody but you’re not very good at responding to problems with the BOM. In one of your posts you wanted us to give you the differences between the bible and the BOM. We did, many of them. You had no intelligible response to that. We have proven that there are many errors in the BOM, again no response. In fact we have proven beyond doubt to any sane, intelligent person that the BOM is false, written by a man or men in the 19th century to establish that man-made religion based on his and others false and personal beliefs that have nothing to do with the true Word of God.

At least you know the source of your error. Anyone who has truly read the OT knows the Holy Spirit was there. Why don’t you read the Bible before you so arrogantly try to correct others.

Here’s a history lesson from the OT for those who have also interpreted what Jesus incorrectly:

And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? (Genesis 41:38)

And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, (Exodus 31:3)

And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship; (Exodus 35:31)

And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him. (Numbers 24:2)

And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan-rishathaim. (Judges 3:10)

But the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abi-ezer was gathered after him. (Judges 6:34)

Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon. (Judges 11:29)

And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol. (Judges 13:25)

And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done. (Judges 14:6)

And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house. (Judges 14:19)

Actually, that’s more than three witnesses, but it was fun. Oh yeah, there are lot’s more, help yourself if you still don’t believe it. Praise God for The Holy Book of Mormon, it too shows that they Holy Spirit was ALWAYS THERE!

Sorry I dont believe in a literal interpretation of the bible unless it serves to make my point. So jesus cant make a mistake in what he says, which is what yoiu said? I think God was present in the burning bush not the spirit thats what is said,

we have a contradiction at least to the extint the the verses you referance can be interpreted to mean the holy spirit, that is not the interpretation of my church or any other protestants I know but ZI am only familiar with a few denominations

therefore you and by extension if that is what is taught the bom stand alone

You keep trying to characterize everybody…
When among the Romans…you and your cohorts are to blame for taking the words to its sharper edge. If you would acknowledge refutes rather than spew more filth, they would not be so sharp.

Just because your bedfellows take advantage of the vulnerable LDS when they come here, doesn’t mean I will allow the same assaults on the Holy Book of Mormon. And until you show me one verse that is ant-Christ, I will defend his witness with my life.

i dont equate spirit of the lord and holy spirit maybe I’m wrong though the church has not asked me to speak pn this issue.

You prove the point of how fallible and ridiculous those who rely on “reason” as their guide for what truth is are useless, as every one thinks they are wiser than the other. Hello? Isn’t it obvious, look around, but it’s not God’s song!!

Unless you move in the Holy Spirit, all your words are like dross - good for nothing before the throne of God. He will ask one thing - you know what that is?

BOmc I DO NOT NEED TO POST THIS AS A NEW TREAD SO MAYBE YOU WILL ANSWER THIS QUESTION . LDS CLAIM THAT IT IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL THAT THE TRUE CHURCH OF CHRIST HAVE TODAY TWELVE APOSTLES.

Thus the Mormons argue that since their church today alone has twelve apostles, it must be the true church of Christ… can you help explain this and as a mormon you do believe the bible, thats right is it not

Child you need to calm down, I have wit reason truth and I’m in favor of God, plus my wife and kids love me so I have a natural advantage, and I eat my vegatables and take lots of supplements.

God does not say anywhere in the bible to set down your mind, logic reason and follow me- does thBOM teach that? as catholics we are taught there are issues of faith but also issues we can understand if we set our minds to it–I like that and I have found the intellectual very comforting when I lost the faith or Holy Spirit as you describe it.

We are not going to be converted to BOM believers, this is a catholic forum and we believe our faith, I am glad you have faith and believe yours, see the church does not tell us you are going to hell only god decides that so i dont have to worry about you, but I am not going to have you change my mind, silly girl, I am a staunch catholic, my parents cant change my mind.

Hello? Honestly, there’s nothing I can do other than repeat myself - I’M NOT A MORMON! I am a Book of Mormon Christian, meaning, I go no further with Joseph other than what he was called to do - dictate the Nephite record.

This thread is about the Nephite record and who saw them. Take your Mormon bash somewhere else.

Proof the BOM is not the Word of God:

At the tower of Babel the Lord confounded “the language of all the earth.”—Genesis 11:9

At the tower of Babel the Lord confounded the language of the earth except the language of Jared, his brothers, their friends, and their families: Ether 1:35-37

Christ’s Church and the Gospel would never completely disappear from the earth, thus having to be restored: Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 3:21; Jude 3; Hebrews 12:28. The Word of God will “never pass away”: Matthew 24:35; 1 Peter 1:24-25; Isaiah 40:8

“the great and abominable church” has “taken away from the gospel of the lamb many parts which are plain and most precious…” and “…there are many plain and precious things taken away from the book, which is the book of the Lamb of God.” —1 Nephi 13:26, 28

The BOM speaks contrary to the Bible therefore the BOM is against Christ.

Proof the BOM is not the Word of God…The BOM speaks contrary to the Bible therefore the BOM is against Christ.
The Bible doesn’t say there was oxygen so how could people have lived then?

MISSING BOOKS OF THE BIBLE:
Code:
* The Book of Jasher (whose title fully translated means the Book of the Upright or the Book of the Just) is mentioned in Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18. From the context in the Book of Samuel it is inferred that it was a collection of poetry. Several books have claimed to be this lost text, but are widely discounted as pseudepigrapha.
* The Book of the Wars of the Lord[1]

Referenced at Numbers 21:14.

* The Chronicles of the Kings of Israel and Chronicles of the Kings of Judah are mentioned in the Books of Kings (1 Kings 14:19, 14:29). They are said to tell of events during the reigns of Kings Jeroboam of Israel and Rehoboam of Judah, respectively. The Chronicles of the Kings of Israel is again mentioned in 1 Kings 16:20 regarding King Zimri. Some believe that the information of these books was later compiled into Kings, but others differ, citing the above passages from Kings which state they contain "other events".
* Books of Chronicles are mentioned on several occasions in the Book of Esther and also in Nehemiah 12:23. Some scholars believe that the book was ahistorical; it is however also noticed that the author was familiar with the customs at the Persian court, where the book is set. While the chronicles mentioned in Esther are thought by some scholars to be fictional there is no doubt that the Kings of Persia did keep annals.
* "The Book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the Seer" is mentioned in the book of 2nd Chronicles. (II Chr 12:14-15). Iddo was a seer who lived during the reigns of Solomon, Rehoboam, and Abijah. His deeds were recorded in this book, which has been completely lost to history, excepting its title.
