Update on Tales of Vesperia: I’m still loving it. I did forget how truly terrible the fight against Tweedle-A and Tweedle-B in Heliord was. Most other fights in the game are at least understandably tough, but why bother making a tutorial fight so difficult that it’s near impossible to practice the move the fight is there to teach you!

Oh well, the game is still great. I’m also still pretty early on, only being at Heliord, and from what I remember, the best of the game really begins at Dahngrest. Hopefully I can get to all Giganto monsters on this run.

I just saw that Smash Bros. Ultimate already sold 12 million copies and it’s only been out for less than two months. 😳

Overwatch is my favorite current game. It’s one of the best multiplayer shooter games out there imho. The characters are great and the gameplay is a lot of fun. Very addicting though.

I recently played Gris, on the Switch, and really enjoyed it. It’s very much one of those “art games” but I thought it was really well done. I liked it a lot more than games like Journey, which it seems to have taken some inspiration from.

That’s pretty crazy. From what I’ve just read that’s already almost as much as Brawl, the highest in the series currently.

I haven’t played in a while, but I liked Overwatch quite a bit, and I’m not usually into online shooters. That and Splatoon are the only ones.

If you’re into grand strategy try Crusader Kings II or Europa Universalis 4

It’s much more historical. You can play as a number of different historical kingdoms, duchies or merchant republic. There’s a load of historical events like the Reformation, and you can either choose to have your nation go protestant or stay Catholic. You can even play as the Papal States, Ottomans, Byzantines, or you could play as one of princes in the Holy Roman Empire. Basically it’s got a lot more political and strategic elements to it than Civ does.

Crusader Kings II is made by the same company that made EU4, the only difference is that in Crusader Kings you’re playing through the medieval period and you can basically declare holy wars on pagan nations. And there’s loads of interpersonal mechanics between your ruler and your subjects. Depending on if you have the DLC or not your ruler can join the Benedictines

I got Smash on the Wii U a while back and it will probably be a long time until I a new game, much less the new console. (I guess it isn’t that new)

Just don’t let your diplomatic relations get too low with the pope if you’re playing as a Catholic nation. Otherwise you’ll be excommunicated and everyone around you will hate you if they stay Catholic.

@balto, I finally finished Breath of the Wild ! 😁 Whenever I get near the end of a Zelda game, I always seem to postpone playing it because I don’t want it to be over.

It was a little anti-climactic as I made it through the castle and to Ganon pretty quickly. And I beat him pretty easily.

I suppose now I can just go back and continue to explore. I still have a few of the shrines and DLC stuff to do.
Wow, I would have thought you finished it by now. I think it’s been over a year since you started. Your Zelda is very patient 🙂 She must have been happy to see you 😁

I think I also went through the castle very quickly. I made the mistake of going right into that first sanctum and getting creamed by the Lynel, so then I used the Rito power to jump up the walls while carefully trying to avoid getting shot off by the guardians. I think I had some difficulty with Ganon in that I had to use the Zora auto-resurrect twice in the battle but I think I did win the first time I tried.

If you haven’t explored the castle you should try doing that. I did that afterwards and actually thought it was more interesting than exploring the countryside areas. I believe the Hylian Shield is in there somewhere and I did eventually find it.

Now that you have beaten it you should look up a YouTube speedrun so you can lol at people beating Ganon with Link in his underwear immediately after getting off the plateau.

Ironically that one was easier for me than the very first fight in the noble’s quarter, it being on hard mode and having access to more artes. But yeah it’s almost impossible to pull off the burst arte with multiple enemies targeting you.

I just got to Ghasfarost which is where Flynn first joins, but IIRC he leaves immediately afterwards and doesn’t come back for a while. I like actually being able to read what his artes are now lol. There was some additional backstory in Dahngrest regarding the guild/empire dynamic that I thought was a nice addition, again now that I am able to read the language again. I spent 10 minutes completely cheesing that ridiculous fight at the beginning of Ghasfarost where it’s solo Yuri vs. about 10 enemies all at once. Seriously how ridiculous is that?

Also a much steeper learning curve and much less concern about making the game fair. I love paradox games, but part of the historicity is that it’s just going to be harder as some leaders than others.

I bought ‘Banished’ sometime ago. Kind of a difficult medieval management resource game. I also bought ‘medieval II: total war, defeinitive edition’, a real time strategy game. My Teotonic Knights faction just made an alliance with Poland.

I think the early fights are pretty easy, even against Zagi. Then again, at that point, you really haven’t gotten into the habit of playing the game “normally”, meaning tactics like freerunning and waiting for an opening aren’t violating the habits built up. Granted, I still sort of question the decision to make such a tactic practically required for a handful of fights.

Look up the colonial charter mod. Really expands the game. It adds a lot more production chains so you can make manufactured goods and helps keep the game going longer.
