Wow, I would have thought you finished it by now. I think it’s been over a year since you started. Your Zelda is very patient 🙂 She must have been happy to see you 😁
I figured she’s already waited 100 years, what’s another 18 months? 😁
I think I also went through the castle very quickly. I made the mistake of going right into that first sanctum and getting creamed by the Lynel, so then I used the Rito power to jump up the walls while carefully trying to avoid getting shot off by the guardians. I think I had some difficulty with Ganon in that I had to use the Zora auto-resurrect twice in the battle but I think I did win the first time I tried.
I didn’t even come across a Lynel or any other enemies except for Guardians. I didn’t even realize I was coming close to Ganon until a cut scene took over. I probably would have went exploring a little more before heading into that area had I known that.
If you haven’t explored the castle you should try doing that. I did that afterwards and actually thought it was more interesting than exploring the countryside areas. I believe the Hylian Shield is in there somewhere and I did eventually find it.
I will definitely do that. I didn’t find the shield, nor the final memory which I presume is somewhere in the castle based on the picture.
Now that you have beaten it you should look up a YouTube speedrun so you can lol at people beating Ganon with Link in his underwear immediately after getting off the plateau.
I’m definitely going to do that. I’ve been looking forward to it. 🙂

Well, it’s at least more powerful than a MacBook, and it should run more reliably than any Windows machine. My Linux workstation at work tops it, though.

For you game completionists out there, don’t start Assassins Creed Odyssey.

40 hours in. Half the map explored and maybe 1/3 of non random quests done…

I spent 10 minutes completely cheesing that ridiculous fight at the beginning of Ghasfarost where it’s solo Yuri vs. about 10 enemies all at once.
So I just completed this, and I totally forgot how many men were in that fight! Granted, it turned out to be pretty easy. I’m still on Normal, though, and I ended up doing a bit of grinding trying to get some necessary items for synthesis. Actually, I think that’s why I don’t remember a lot of the too-difficult encounters from before. I’d often grind to beat Gattuso and then be able to walk over everything after that. The fight was still a little annoying, though, given how easily Yuri could get stun-locked from all the attacks.

I do still love how the story just went full-on chaos mode for a bit before that fight. You’ve got Barbos, Ragou, Judith, Flynn, the Don, and tons of exposition explaining motivations all being thrown around at once. And of course Barbos’s getaway is just hilarious, but not as hilarious as Yuri and Judith. That skit when they get out of jail is just so perfectly self-aware in its fan service.

And of course, I’ve now made it through Keiv Moc, which means I got to one of the best lines in the game: “If I had a memory that bad, I’d want to find myself, too!” 🤣

Don’t knock it -nearly 40 years old and older than me and it runs flawlessly. My last tower lasted about 3 years before stuff started giving out.

Yesterday Nintendo announced Super Mario Maker 2 and a remake of the old Gameboy “Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.” I’m excited for both. I never owned any of the portable consoles, so I’ve never played any of those Zelda games before.

Link’s Awakening was the first Zelda game I played. Well, it was either that or Majora’s Mask. Either way, neither really got me hooked on the series. However, I have wanted to go back and give Link’s Awakening another try. I replayed Majora’s Mask when it came out on the 3DS, and while it still is far from my favorite Zelda game, I did enjoy a lot more on the replay.

As for Super Mario Maker 2: I am a bit disappointed that it looks like they aren’t doing 3D levels yet, despite Super Mario 3D World being used. At the very least, everything I saw seemed to indicate that it was just using it for 2D sections, maybe a bit of 2.5D. I mean, I’m glad they’re adding hills, but nothing shown so far makes me think it’s any more than just a minor improvement on the first game. I’ll probably still buy and enjoy it, but I’m always a bit disappointed when Nintendo does their glorified DLC.

I was hoping for 3D, too, and I’m still holding out hope as I’m sure they have yet to reveal all the new bells and whistles. I can imagine that allowing for 3D level design would add many more layers of complexity to programming the game, so I can understand why they might leave it out. Still, I would love to have that option.

I’ve seen some lists of the new elements that people have culled from the trailer and poster, and it’s more substantial than I would have guessed from my own viewing of the trailer.

The poster includes pictures of Luigi and Toad, so I’m thinking it’s possible this one will have co-op play. Or at least, there will be the ability to play as different characters besides Mario.

Yeah, I’ve heard that multiplayer is a possibility. I never really got into the multiplayer of the NSMB or 3D X games, though, so it isn’t a major selling point to me. However, being able to choose different characters and have multiple goals, both of which seem like possibilities, would definitely help with speedrunning. The first game supported speedrunning to an extent, but most of us aren’t professional level designers and need a bit more help making a good speedrunning level.

The co-op is more exciting for me because I know my daughter will like it. 😁 Of course, here idea of level design is mainly just a straight shot to the goal, but she has fun playing the levels that I make.

I knew that Mario Maker 2 would come eventually, so I’m happy to that it is coming this year. From the things they keep adding, it does seem like Nintendo is paying attention to what players are asking for. So I remain optimistic. 🙂

Interesting. Can’t say I expected a visual style like that, but it’s kind of adorable to be honest…

I’m excited to hear more of the remixed music!

I’d like to see all the portable Zelda games redone like this as I have never played them before.

I am so excited about Link’s Awakening. That’s one of my favorite 2D Zelda games, I always loved the world and the story. The new art style is so adorable.

Please Nintendo, PLEASE redo Ages and Seasons like this~!

That Nintendo direct was so amazing. First, the reveal of Bloodstained along with a release window. I backed that game in 2015 and have been eagerly awaiting it ever since. Then we got Zelda, followed up by Fire Emblem: Three Houses. To add to that, my wife likes Rune Factory, so 4 Special and the announcement that 5 is being worked on was exciting.

Way to go Nintendo, just… way to go!

In the past, I sort of wished they would do an updated version of Link to the Past, but I could never think of what kind of art style they would do it in to make it look modern, yet still true to the original. Then I saw the trailer for Link’s Awakening and it was like “Of course!” That totally fits.
