Who would be happy if every parish had to have a TLM Mass

So the talk of already having many people ready and waiting just for an approval to have the mass more available was a lie?

Maybe all those names on petitions etc were fakes and the popes got bad information.
The MP was not brought about by petitions, it was brought about because there was this erroneous belif that EF was done away with. Pope Benedict XVI wanted to correct this mistake, the mass of our heritage was never banned nor can it be.

No, traditional Catholics fight for the truths of their faith. Modernists don’t have the stomach for it. For most, it is much easier to live the undemanding and non penitential modern Catholic life.
So where are they all now that they have the MP?

Naw - of course not - no pressure put on either pope about this - no groups out getting signatures to send to the Vatican.

Seems those who were willing to waste their time with these petitions have no interest since the MP was issued.

There is, supposedly, a built in audience that have been petitioning etc to get the indult from JPII and to get that expanded.

Not sure what happened to that groundswell that was supposed to be out there…
It is dishonest of you to keep stating this.

You stated the same thing here and here. And you were shown to be absolutely wrong here. You were provided with a link to this thread which shows that the number of Masses according to the Extraordinary Form have more than doubled since Summorum Pontificum. Over 100% growth in a very, very short period of time is huge. And it means that you are wrong about there being no interest.

But, after being proven wrong you again made the same claim here. And then you make the same claim now.

We can assume that you missed the post that I just pointed out. But, now you know the truth. From now on if you make the same claim then you would be engaging in a lie.

I never said there was no interest - I am saying that there are not as many as had been previously claimed.

The claims seriously dropped off about a year before the MP was issued which is a curious thing - maybe reality set in?

I answered, “yes,” but I found this pole to be not specific enough. I wouldn’t want this if we’re going to have parishes doing it half hazardly just because the Church is making each parish offer it.

100% growth and still growing is huge. Much better than anyone seems to have predicted. Can you show where people were claiming there was more interest than this?

Reality being?

Anyway, how are you determining these numbers? I’m not away of any kind of attempt to judge the growth of the traditionalist movement?

More to the point, why are YOU here on a traditional Catholicism forum, day in and day out, when you are so obviously full of comtempt for the traditional Latin Mass and it’s supporters? I, for one, am very tired of seeing your name pop up on these threads for no other purpose than to sow discord.

To answer your question, the traditionalists are out there, and there are many of them, and what’s even better is that they are having large families. Here’s some good news to illuminate your closed mind:

Traditionalism is growing, it is like a snowball rolling downhill and there’s no stopping it. You are uncomfortable with this, obviously, but you had better face facts. The NO is on it’s way out, and there’s nothing you can do about it. You don’t like it? Tough. We didn’t like the modernist agenda that was foisted on us forty+ years ago.

Ever wonder why the SSPX and traditional Catholics are such a thorn in the side of the Vatican?

Rome has been unsuccessfully trying to absorb them, deceive them, or erase them for over forty years now…by hook or by crook, with threats, blows, lies, and deception. They must really hate the traditional Mass.

I don’t know who you rely on for such predictions but for years people claimed that the ALL of ‘few’ places that had the TLM under the indult were filled beyond capacity and people traveled for hours to get to them.

So even if a few from each of those got to work when the MP was issued 100% growth would be a drop in the bucket.

Then there are those who went to SSPX masses “only because” there was no inult mass in their area. Where are they? Why aren’t they supporting the MP?

Since the MP the talk has been about drumming up more interest in the TLM - a total 180 degree turn from what I saw on boards for years.

Yeah …never denied that there were petitions, just pointed out that the Church is not a democracy. I’m not questioning whether these petitions helped to raise the issue - I’m pointing out that mere petition doesn’t merit change. Quite clearly, these petitioniers were right, the mass was not abrogated, as the MP points out.

Motu Propio:
Following the insistent prayers of these faithful…
Obviously it wasn’t such a waste of time, it drew attention the attention of our Holy Father.

The ‘movement’ was supposedly already large.

You’re getting numbers from where? hearsay?

All I know is that the seminaries are full, and that my own parish is growing.

The ‘movement’ was supposedly in place and just waiting - now that they have what they supposedly wanted ???

I don’t understand how this can go from a horde just waiting to step up and take back what is ‘theirs’ to building up momentum.

Either the initial large group was there or it was not.

If it was not then lots of folks were sold a bill of goods and maybe bishops who say there is no interest in their areas are telling the truth.

And, the MP promotes this idea in what way? There are many “traditional” things about the catholic church that I really like. But I don’t see any reason to become belligerent over any of it. What gives? 🤷

thanks, Richie
