I’ll just be sitting back enjoying a glass of whine while y’all are voting.

So far, you’ve accused me of not being Catholic enough (since I’m not voting for Trump), putting my soul in jeopardy (since I’m not voting for Trump), and putting “pride” in the way of making a “Catholic decision” (because I’m voting based on my “opinion”). Excuse me, but who do you think you are to announce what is a Catholic decision and what isn’t?
I didn’t accuse you. I just made the statement for everyone.

So Trump is ok with torturing terrorists to gather info.

Torturing TERRORISTS vs Murdering INNOCENT BABIES

As Catholics we need to make a choice where to limit the most evil. It is clear to me. Anyone else clear on that decision?

I’m part of everyone.

Torturing TERRORISTS vs Murdering INNOCENT BABIES
Oh please, that’s a false dichotomy. I can have my getting rid of torture and getting rid of killing innocent babies. Do not pair them against each other. There’s nothing that Trump can do that another pro-life politician can’t.

Yes, we need to make a choice. And that choice is not limited to what you say it is.

No it is not.

I honestly believe God made sure President Trump was president to wake up our country. We have been complacent to the progressive filth polluting every aspect of our lives. Trump called a spade a spade. God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called. God will bring good out of evil and I believe Trump is an instrument for the Lord to wake people up.

That’s wishful thinking.

I intend to vote for Trump.

I believe he has done a lot of good for this country by exposing internal divisions that have long been hidden. This will provide a better opportunity to address them fundamentally, and I hope we use this opportunity to do so. Additionally, I believe that the Supreme Court justices he has nominated have done a good job so far, and I want to give him further opportunities to nominate more justices, which, in the next term, is likely to occur.

To address what I see as being at stake in this election, aside from the aforementioned Supreme Court justices:

Of the two candidates who stand a realistic chance of winning, Trump is the only one who is NOT actively campaigning on introducing measures that would result in agents of the state being sent to arrest or kill people like me for doing what we have been doing for years (I will not go into further detail on this matter).

Of the two candidates who stand a realistic chance of winning, Trump is the only one who is campaigning on a platform that would improve the status quo with respect to abortion. He is not perfect on this matter, but I believe he may do significant good on this front.

Of the two candidates who stand a realistic chance of winning, I believe Trump is less likely to actively work hand-in-hand with elected officials espousing a system of government which resulted in the deaths of millions of people in the last century.

I do not believe that those in charge of the Democratic Party simply believe that we need to use a different path to arrive at a just, prosperous society; I believe that they have a fundamentally different vision of what a society should be, and that the end result of allowing them to achieve their objectives would be disastrous. Further, I believe that many of the high level Republican Party officials are complicit toward this end.

Trump is an outsider. I do not believe that a mainstream Republican could’ve done what he has done. I believe that many Republican officials dislike him, and I am fine with that. I do not expect him to be one to regularly “reach across the aisle,” and I am fine with that, as I believe that those on the “other side of the aisle” have repeatedly shown that they are not working toward our best interests.

I pray that our elected officials, regardless of who they are, will turn to God. I believe that Trump, for all his faults, is clearly the better “starting point” in this regard. I could, of course, choose to vote for a third party candidate whose positions more closely match my beliefs, but given what I believe is at stake, I don’t believe that doing so would be a wise decision.

Sometimes there are issues that are more important than policy.

Trump has been an incompetent administrator. He has appointed “whackos and liars” to high level positions in government. More often, he has left positions vacant.

There has been a move to politicize the courts. Judges are chosen to advance a particular political agenda instead of administering equal justice under the law, at least Trump’s rhetoric suggests that. This is a threat to the heart of the Constitution, though I am hopeful that the judges are not as bad as Trump wants them to be.

The corona virus has exposed how anti-life this incompetence can be. Holding rallies without social distancing is profoundly anti-life. It says “I can do what I want, no matter who it kills.” That promotes abortion as offensively as possible.

Voting for Trump is voting for what Trump calls “whackos and liars” running the country.
