Who would you vote for in America?

Wow. You really beat some people with your judgment stick.
Absolutely not. I am just making sense of it. We have 70% of “Catholics” that believe the eucharist is a symbol. Now if we consider them Catholic, then I am beyond confused what a Catholic is.

But many of the people who will vote for Biden do believe the eucharist is the real body of Christ, and believe in all the other teachings of the Catholic Church.

I know that. It is interesting I must say. I do not understand how one justifies voting for someone who is for the murder of a million babies when the other option is not. It makes no sense for a Catholic.

If we are Catholic because this is Jesus Christ’s church, Jesus Christ who is God, and we are to follow the teachings. To go against the church teaching on something so grave as abortion, is a prideful decision against God’s will.

I feel too many Catholics these days do not understand what the church teaches. We cannot think it is ok to accept 99% but not the 1%. We are all in or all out. This is a very clear Catholic position on the deposit of faith.

Getting some good use of that judgment stick today!

The other option is to vote for someone who has done little to stop abortion (in my opinion) but has done much to endanger the very survival of this nation (again, in my opinion, which I am allowed to have.) In short, it matters less what someone says they are for than what they can actually accomplish.

Every practicing Catholic will vote for President Trump.
I’m a practicing Catholic who will be voting for neither Trump nor Biden. Do not lump me in your statement.

Well then it sounds like you are throwing away your vote. I do think as Catholics we have a duty before God to vote when something so evil as abortion is on the table. We have an obligation to limit evil in the world. You may want to look into that if throwing away your vote still may make you complicit. I’m not certain but I have heard it before.

Again, I’m not calling you out. I’m just looking out for your soul.

God bless.

What would you call saying that I am throwing my vote away and implying that I am putting my soul in jeopardy by not voting for Trump? Perhaps you should look out for your own soul considering such sweeping statements. Now it’s not enough that I don’t vote for Biden, I must vote for Trump. Never mind the candidate I will vote for is prolife, I have to vote for Trump lest I endanger my soul.

Do I have you right?

Very big of you. Do you realize how condescending this sounds? You’re not Fauken’s spiritual director.

You can vote for whoever you want.

All I am saying is that I believe I have heard it stated before we have a duty to vote to limit evil in the world. And not voting for one of the only two candidates is… well you get the point.

We can choose life or death, good or evil, the narrow road to heaven or the broad road to destruction. It appears there is no 3rd option.

Except you just said that all practicing Catholics will vote for Trump, right? So if I’m a practicing Catholic, which I am, I can’t vote for anyone who isn’t Trump. Lest I put my soul in jeopardy. That is what you said. Do not backpedal out of it.

There is a third option. You’re the one painting it like there isn’t. We have a duty to limit evil in the world, but we are not allowed to use any means to limit it in the name of limiting it. We are not utilitarians, correct?

I have no idea if you are a practicing Catholic. Are you? What is it about Trump that is greater in evil than abortion?

I am a practicing Catholic. And as for Trump, I don’t see the point in hedging the hopes, prayers, and sacrifices of the pro-life movement on a man who is only further entrenching and giving ammunition to the pro-choice movement to discredit it. Particularly, the idea that it doesn’t matter who or what else someone promotes or believes so long as they’re pro-life. Trump can say he’s okay with torturing people so long as he’s pro-life. He can be boorish so long as he’s pro-life. He can make the country look ridiculous internationally so long as he’s pro-life. The Republicans continue to be awarded for their mediocrity and inability to do anything permanent toward pro-life year after year with people continuing to promote the idea that there are only two parties in this country. I’m tired of voting for them simply because they are pro-life. The SCOTUS Judges overthrowing Roe v. Wade will not matter if there is not a radical culture shift in this country. The Democrats will just have to wait a few decades, get in their judges, and the cycle continues. Both parties need to get out of Washington.

Very well.

Everything you mention about Trump is an opinion. Trump has openly opposed abortion and promoted God. He has exposed the cancerous Marxism exploding throughout our country. We even have priests kneeling for Marxist ideologies. Very sad. What we cannot ignore though is the concrete reality of the gravest evil in our world today. There are a million innocent babies slaughtered every year in America, 40-50 million a year throughout the world.

We all need to make sure we are making sound Catholic decisions in our voting and not letting pride get in the way.

Oh really now? Trump does support torture.

Would you care to name a country that has had a net positive opinion regarding the United States since Trump’s election? Because all the opinions I’ve heard from non-American and American friends abroad is that we’re being roundly mocked for it. And not because we voted for a guy who wants to get rid of abortion.

As for boorish, fine, that’s my opinion. But guess what? It’s also an opinion shared by the same pro-choice people who disagree heavily with him. Personality is important when it comes to being a leader, and the Presidency is a leadership position. Trump isn’t one to reach out across the aisle. He is not interested in their disagreement, nor in anything else he believes. Steamrolling people will get you what happened in the last election.

Priests and Marxism is something the Church needs to deal with, not the President.

So far, you’ve accused me of not being Catholic enough (since I’m not voting for Trump), putting my soul in jeopardy (since I’m not voting for Trump), and putting “pride” in the way of making a “Catholic decision” (because I’m voting based on my “opinion”). Excuse me, but who do you think you are to announce what is a Catholic decision and what isn’t, and what my choice is based on?
