I don't get what makes some threads lock worthy and others not
Newbies may want to get into that discussion but can't.If I'm not mistaken, threads get automatically locked after a given period of time. It doesn't mean there's anything "wrong" with the thread.
Can't be helped. A lock on a thread presupposes that the discussion is over, or that it was ranging into an imprudent direction, and a moderator decided it was time to close it.Newbies may want to get into that discussion but can't.
Not on this forum, not so far as I am aware.Doesn't the thread usually say how long it will be open - below the last post?
They always have the option of creating a new thread and pasting in any post of interest from the closed thread.Newbies may want to get into that discussion but can't.
Two weeks from last post.Doesn't the thread usually say how long it will be open - below the last post?
why didnt I think of that? LOLThey always have the option of creating a new thread and pasting in any post of interest from the closed thread.
This sounds like the Zuckerberg excuse (for censoring conservatives).. It's the algorithms! The old software (Discourse) used to close threads two weeks after the last post. The new software (Xenforo) does not automatically close threads. We migrated over in January 2024.
