Why are Catholics so judgmental? In Texas?

I was raised Catholic and still am Catholic. The teachings I learned in school and from my family were pure and true. My mother and grandmother could pull out a bible verse just on the top of their heads. There was never a time I did not see my family not read the bible. I moved recently to texas and I felt so out of place in this small town. Especially with the Catholic community. People here (not all but most 1/10 are not this way) disgustingly judgmental all over. I don’t understand how people here treat politics more then their own religion. As if their Republican president is God and everything he says is right. Im not just talking just about Trump. Im talking about any Republican leader. Its insane. If their idol says to hate people who love to eat corn, they will religiously without a second thinking about what would Jesus think at that moment. And this isnt just political either. Some people are just so judgmental in general without the politics. Because THEY grew up in a perfect family and THEY Dont care or even think about what someone els could have gone through. I went to church and the priest was talking about how evil non Catholic people are. Its just a mess down here. Compared to the sweet environment I grew up with. I grew up with teachers telling us to accept all. Lpve one another. Reading verses that tell us to care for eachother AND NOT JUDGE. And here I am in this community where people judge everyone so harshly without a second thinking about the teachings in the bible. I dont understand. Why must Catholics be so so judgmental and disgusting and disrespectful? What is going on? Why are Southern people this way? Or this town? Up in New Jersey I felt comfortable with people who were Catholics cus everyone els was just rude and disrespectful. But here its like the other way around ? If you are one of these people that feel they can tell others what to do, why do you feel this way? And I dont want this to turn to a political conversation cus I know most of you Democrats or Republicans will come and start freaking out because im insulting your Gods. I want this to be a topic about EVERYTHING in general. When you see a person who is a druggie. Why do you feel that you can talk bad and talk down to the person, being that you are Catholic?

Why so upset? Look at it as test… It is good when everybody is nice and polite. But when things become opposite to something we are used to how do we react?
Move on and try to be good example.

Saying you “don’t want this to turn to a political conversation” while also insulting all Southerners and saying “I know most of you Democrats or Republicans will come and start freaking out because im insulting your Gods” is completely contradicting yourself. If you want an actual discussion, a little politeness and respect would go a long way.

Your post is a rant. People don’t take them seriously because they are full of emotion, hyperbole, stereotypes, etc. Try to argue more coherently and reasonably.

As someone who lives in suburban Philadelphia, I think you are the one being judgmental of Southerners.

Many “judgemental” Christians I know from the South judge the sin, but not the person.

In other words, they believe in the following concept: “Hate the sin but love the sinner.”

Personally, I know I was taught that as a Catholic child in Southern Delaware.

My experience in Northern Delaware and now Philly is that many Northern Christians (Catholics included) do NOT believe in the “Hate the sin but love the sinner” concept. They effectively live a “Love the sinner by accepting the sin” concept.

This is not the traditional Christian way. This is a very secular, relativistic, masonic way of life.

(Delaware is a border state and the southern part of the state has more in common with the American South; while Northern Delaware is truly Northeastern.)

Agreed. Its just that I do not feel comfortable even attending any religious events cus I come across those people everyday and I cant enjoy my religion as I used to. I agree. It could be a test. But its frustrating to see so many pharisees everywhere. Im starting to become one. Iv been here for 3 years and finally started making excuses to not attend or make friends in the church.

Because Im frustrated. Frustrated seeing how people are treating eachother. I know I am not perfect. But holy hell is it hard to be close to people who are out to get you all the time! I asked the question of Southern. I ment it as a question. Is it the same all over the south or is it just the town Im in. I should have clarified if others felt the same or not

Hey…when you are talking about Texas…you are talking about me! I am a “cradle” Catholic and am Texan and try not to judge …too harshly… 😁

T for TEXAS… ⛪

I enjoyed your post. I ment it as a question as in is it the same all in the south or is it just the town Im in. I should have been more clearly. But I was looking for an answer much like yours. I wanted to know other’s experiences. Because when I am stuck in a small town with a community this mean. I become it myself and I start creating stereotypes because of my own experience. I glad that you explained it to me very well and now I do understan what you mean so thanks for that

Im in a small town in texas tho. Idk how it is like everywhere els

Sorry…I don’t understand your question…please explain…

It is a rant but also Im looking for an answer in which people who are like this can explain to me. Which was explainled to me in the comments.

So, you have judged yourself to be good, true and faithful and those judgmental Catholics to be judgmental?

Let’s ponder that just a moment.

The vast majority of Catholics are classically faithful to the Democrat party. This stems from a time when the Democrat party was far, far more mainstream and had not been dragged radically leftward by progressive activists.

The farther leftward the Democrat party moved, the farther “right” the Republican party appeared to them.

It’s all a matter of Church teaching and political perspective.

If you are a good and true Catholic, set the bible aside for a moment and pick up the catechism. We are all surprised, if not shocked when we learn actual Church teachings.

I know where you are going with this. Im not gonna read it. I found my answer in the comments. Im not getting political with this. Politics scare me and it looks toxic overall. Either party. Both parties. Full of toxic hate in itself and it was bold of me to even mention it in the post

Its ok. I found the answer i was looking for. I didnt mean to insult Texas. I was mad. It’s mainly just the community I am in. The small town here. Its just mean to outsiders.

As to your post in general, do you want everyone down south to be rude, like you say they are in New Jersey? Furthermore, what you are observing is human nature. It is everywhere, even in New Jersey. And it is all broken.

You are either Catholic or you are not. Human life is #1. One party currently has a far superior record as to the defense of innocent human life - that’s all. The current president, was almost universally hated as he is, has not talked, but walked his talk. He has done more for the Catholic Church than any president in US history.

Facts are facts.

I am old and you are probably young. Thinking changes as we age.
