But we have free will and an immortal soul. That makes us completely unique. There is no such concept as morality for chimps.

God Bless
Gorillas can bench press 4000 lbs, that makes them completely unique.

All species of animals have unique attributes.

Ah, yes, good things come in small packages, don’t they? That 2% difference is what makes us HUMAN with 'a soul and a conscience." It’s how we differ from animals.
Perhaps that 2% is also partially responsible for the human urge to wage war against each other and commit unspeakable acts of evil.

Is that intentional obfuscation? We’re talking about moral issues. Free will and an eternal soul are necessary for morality. Only human have them.

(BTW, Elephants can lift a lot too) 🙂

God Bless

You will find no other animal in the world that can bench press upwards of 4000 lbs. It is a trait unique to the species. Just like our soul and high intelligence is a unique trait to our species.

My point stands firm.

There is a world of difference between humans and animals. You cannot justify sinful behaviour solely on the basis that some animals do the same thing.

Man has morals and beliefs. We are not simply driven by our instincts like animals. We know the difference between right and wrong. Animals don’t.

Almighty God has revealed to man that homosexuality is wrong. He has communicated this to us. God has removed any and all doubts about this.

Interestingly, Christianity is not the only religion which declares homosexuality to be sinful. Judaism and Islam do. The Dalai Lama has also spoken against homosexuality. Actually, I don’t know of any organised religion, aside from paganism, which teaches that homosexuality is okay.

A non-religious argument against homosexuality is that it is not good for society. Homosexuality is actually bad for society because it stands for a lifestyle that is contrary to the family. It is also not conductive to life (in the procreative sense).

Animals just are, there actions are morally neutral. Humans have the capacity for good and evil. **

The scripture is not as clear as you may think. Remember, that there are many protestant Church’s that accept homosexuality as a gift.

Could this be due to cultural and religious bigotry? I would bet that those same religions also place women in a lesser role.

Remember, there are still countries that sentence to death homosexuals.

I don’t think that it is contrary to the family. I know two lesbians who have children. I know a woman who has adult children ( through marriage to husband) and is now legally married to a woman.

Your second point, the jury is not yet out… foxnews.com/story/0,2933,368541,00.html

Homosexuality in males may be caused in part by genes that can increase fertility in females, according to a new study.

The findings may help solve the puzzle of why, if homosexuality is hereditary, it hasn’t already disappeared from the gene pool, since gay people are less likely to reproduce than heterosexuals.

A team of researchers found that some female relatives of gay men tend to have more children than average.

The scientists used a computer model to explain how two genes passed on through the maternal line could produce this effect…*

By your argument, an infertile married couple are not conductive life and are what…living in sin? I don’t understand your point that reproduction is significant.

In my own experience I have observed several gay family members since childhood. Play behaviors and preferences for opposite gender clothes, games, hairstyles, concern about appearances, creativity, manner of speech, activity in the house and family, thinking patterns and reactions to various environmental situations, levels of aggressive or demure behavior, even facial features and body structure, natural gentility or masculine attitude, and much more, were obvious at very early ages and became doubtless in adolescence. Choices and natural inclinations in predictable patterns were obvious.

These folks came from normal loving, tradition families with no know homosexuals in the family tree. They had no abnormal role model, but their peers at school and cousins etc. were keenly aware before adolescence that they were ‘different’ and not fitting in with their gender.

They are intelligent, kind and good people who prefer not to draw attention. One moved away to live the gay life style. One is chaste still living with parents. One married and has a family. And one lives alone and occasional dates the opposite sex. One was traditionally married and chose the gay life style later on.
All know they are ‘different’ and agree it was their nature as far back as they can remember and agree that if it could be a choice they all would choose differently - to have their nature match their gender.

I know there are many theories for this phenomenon, but many personal accounts can shoot them all down. So that leaves one common denominator - it is a side effect of original sin whether it is a disordered inclination or a choice.

No, you are arguing animal, vegetable, mineral. If that is your only way of classifying, then sure we are animals. But we are actually unique in many ways animals are not. The gorialla is not unique just stronger.

The best way to refute your argument is to quote Scripture. This is what St Paul wrote to the Romans:
Romans 1:24-26
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonouring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to dishonourable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error.
Please explain what is unclear about the above passages?

St Paul states that active homosexuality is a “dishonourable passion.” He explicitly refers to heterosexual sex as “natural relations” while condemning homosexual acts as “unatural.” The Apostle also states that the homosexuals received the “due penality for their error.” The use of the word “shameless” also implies that those who engage in homosexuality should feel shame.

How clearer could St. Paul be? The words “dishonourable,” “unatural,” “error,” “impurity” and “shameless acts” are pretty clear to me.

That is just patently false. There is absolutely no proof that homosexuality is biological. If there was you can be sure that we would be hearing about it at every turn.
It is a biological fact that gay males produce less testosterone than heterosexual males.

There is also evidence that suggest that the mother of gay males, for some reason during pregnancy, takes the testosterone away from the developing male fetus. Often they’ve found that the mother was going through some form of stress, and this may account for it. Those males are born with less testosterone, than male heterosexual babies.

Also, it is a scientific fact, that homosexuals don’t all of a sudden decide that they’re more attracted to the same sex.
Their attraction to the same sex begins early in life, about the same time that heterosexuals find attraction to the opposite sex.

Homosexuality is a biological disorder, just as other disorders exist.

What the 1500 or so animals that document homosexual behaviour in the animal kingdom?
Actually, there aren’t 1500 and those that demonstrate homosexual behavior, do so as a result of being disoriented, or stressed. Its abnormal behavior. Also, even then don’t copulate anally as human homosexual males do.

I believe that you cannot provide even one peer-reviewed study to back your claim of a biological basis for same sex attractive disorder. There aren’t any. Lots of supposes and wish we coulds, but not one.

I couldn’t have put it better myself. 👍

As others have said, there is no concrete evidence to support your claim. It’s total conjecture.

However, homosexuality was treated as a mental disorder for generations having only been removed from the American Psychological Association’s list of mental illnesses in 1973. It should be noted that this was done to placate militant “gay rights” campaigners.

Regardless of the cause of this behaviour, we know that it is wrong because God has spoken.

It seems to me that homosexuals are looking for evidence to show that their preferences are biological so they can claim that it is normal and natural. I doubt they’ll ever find this evidence.

If there is evidence to say that homosexuality is biological, what about pederasty or bestiality? In fact, what about all types of sexual behaviour? If the sexual preferences of an individual are biological, how can society continue to condemn certain sexual acts.

This is whay the biological argument makes no sense. By proclaiming homosexuality to be biologically caused, we would have to do the same to other perversions.

That’s a real good point. It’s scary to think of what the world would be like if things like pedophillia were counted as a ‘natural’ occurance.

I’m no expert, but I suspect Science is on the verge of proving homosexuality is biological.
I think that you’re probably right.
I was taught (maybe as a traditional Catholic) that it’s a greater sin to be abusive to a homosexual than it is to engage in homosexual activity because a sin against charity is the worst kind of sin.
I’m not a homosexual but since I’m far from where I want to be as a decent person I’m in no position to counsel them, I just try to love them and be kind.
However, God made a lot of people who really annoy me.
Self righteous prigs comes to mind.
Bossy people.
And the kind of person who draws certain cards that imply a lack of charity on my part when I’m discussing things with them.
People who bring up race, religion, the “parent” card, the political card, the gender card.

The same logic that was used to proclaim homosexuality as normal could be used for any other sexual behaviour that violates social norms.

Prior to the 1970’s, homosexuality was not accepted by the majority of people. Only through persistent lobbying has the “Gay rights” movement mananged to change the laws of society; thereby giving homosexuality the veneer of respectability.

Now that “Gay marriage” has become accepted by the courts, I think there is a possibility that others who want to practice polygamy will campaign for this right in the future. The polygamists would most likely win because they could claim that the state is violating their human rights and their right to religious freedom.

The decisions made by the governments concerning homosexuality and gay rights could have potentially opened a pandora’s box.

Many Gay people have children who they love and want the best for.
A Gay parent is usually like every other parent.
They have families.
Also, we are taught that certain things are right or wrong, the terrorists who are trying to kill us may really think that God is on their side.
I don’t, but then again, my parents and teachers didn’t teach me that it’s okay to kill people in the name of God.

There are some devout Mormons who think that polygamy is okay, that didn’t worry me.
When they started having relations with underage females I drew the line and those Mormons are out of luck with me.
Only a small percentage of the population believe that they are Gay.
Far more damage is done to families with the increase in divorces.
Also, absent fathers are a huge problem.
My energy is directed to those issues, the Gay thing doesn’t worry me.

You should know that writing in bold comes across as agressive. However, I know you meant nothing by it because as you said, you try to be “love” and “be kind” to people.

However, it is my personal opinion that children should not be brought up in the homosexual environment. I don’t think it’s right. All children deserve to have a mother and a father. They deserve to have a traditional family.

I also know that the Catholic apoption agencies agree with me on this. The Catholic adoption agencies in England and Wales threatened to close if they were forced to give children to homosexual couples. They would rather close their doors for good than do this. I can understand why.
