The fallacy of composition is just as I described it in post #1130. But don’t feel bad, it is very common when Mormons can’t defend Mormonism, and there are other Mormons on this board that resort to it quicker than you do.I knew you didn’t understand the fallacy of composition. You are accusing me of it…when in reality you are guilty. Fallacies of composition come in several flavors, y’know.
I don’t have to ‘divorce the Catholic church as a whole from the actions of the church in America. The American Church is a PART of the WHOLE Church. A fallacy of composition arises when one argues from the part to the whole; ignoring the fact that what is true for the part is not necessarily true for the whole. The WHOLE Catholic Church has never been racist, but there are racist (PARTS) in the Catholic Church. In 1973, the Mormons I knew (PARTS) were not racists, but the Mormon Church (WHOLE) was racist in regards to its priesthood. I knew the difference between the PART, I knew, and the WHOLE. You are so anti-catholic you can’t see the difference. The only way you can divorce the Catholic church as a whole from the actions of the church in America is to claim that that geographical branch of the church is not Catholic; as separate from you as the Baptists, or the Lutherans…or us. Is that really what you want to claim?
Here are some highlights of the US Catholic Church:The Catholic Church is not centered in the USA, nor does the US Church dictate Church practice.
No, mormons do not think that catholics are evil. In fact, most lds have a great deal of respect for catholics. And many catholics have a great deal of respect for mormons. There is a certain unity of respect.doesn’t the church of LDS think Catholics are evil (or something to that effect). Man bud you must be caught in a pretty peculiar dilemma?
I am not sure if this all makes any sense especially calling Diana anticatholic. The fallacy of composition is just as I described it in post #1130. My angel is sad because it is probably fed’up with me!Your angel might just be a little sad or tired that you are provoking the mormons…something to think about.
But I like the picture too.![]()
Dianaiad is anti-catholic, she’s mormon; that is very anti-catholic!I am not sure if this all makes any sense especially calling Diana anticatholic.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. My angel is sad because it is probably fed’up with me!![]()
…you’ve been so kind to me even though I’ve been so mean on this thread!Don’t be too hard on yourself.![]()
The serpent in Eden was Satan in disguise! That’s clear! How can anyone get that wrong? No one can become a God, that’s a lie no matter when the lie is told!people buy into mormonism becuse it teaches that they can become “gods” they think the serpent in eden was speaking truth. mormonism feeds the ego which is what draws people to it. it is a “church” of the anti-christ becuse it teaches people to behave like satan putting themselves equal or better to god.
Jake I totally agrre with just about everything you said except why people become Mormon to begin with. See I grew up in the LDS church, all of my family is LDS, they still are in fact. Its hard when you don’t have any support around you to educate yourself about God and his grace. Questions in the LDS faith are frowned upon. However I found the truth and made my way to the Catholic Church “Praise God”The Mormon occult is nothing but an occult of 16 Million which is pretty small considering other religions and that 16 million also include those who are no longer practicing. Being mormon is anti catholic by mormon teaching which claims the pope is an antichrist and that the catholic church is evil. You will easily find writings from Joseph Smith and other presidents claiming this more than once! and obviousley Gods holy catholic church proclaims the LDS are heretics obviousely for more than one reason!
For one to become Mormon is either young and foolish, uneducated and not taking god seriouse enough, or simply fake wanting to be a part of somthing even if it is an occult.
It is our responsability as christians to do what Christ asked and help others and what better way than to help prevent there damnation for joining such an blasphemous occult.
I ask the same about religion in general? With all of the evidence that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that mormonism is a sham, why do people still buy into it? It almost makes me think that reason will not always work in apologetics. its as if mormonism (and islam among others) trivialize faith by making it appear unreasonable.
***Perhaps friend the answer lies in understanding why and how, with only ONE TRUTH possible for any specific isue, there can be IN EXCESS of 30, 000 Protestant sects with varying beliefs.=Dee Dee King-With all of the evidence that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that mormonism is a sham, why do people still buy into it? I don’t think I mentioned the CC sex abuse scandal in this thread? But anyway, IMO Christianity (and Judaism) is a byproduct of earlier pagan myth, that developed in a superstitious ancient culture, and was thrust on the western world by an imperial empire who themselves were a superstitious people predisposed to bizarre religious ritual.Yankee, you need to put things in perspective.
No one blamed the US Army for the actions of one lieutenant in the My Lai massacre. What he did was against Army regulations. The same reasoning applies with the sex scandal. What those priests did was against the Catholic Church teachings. They acted on their own. When Rome found out about it they took corrective action. Just FYI, more sex abuse takes place in the home, next in line is the schools. And non-Catholic religions have had their fair share of sexual problems.
The bible was given to the world by the Catholic Church through the Holy Spirit. I’m surprised you actually have to ask as it is part of history. All you had to do was look it up.
In the case of Catholic priests having a problem with pedophilia…c’mon…people need to give that a rest.It is a human shortcoming that some people put on a religious facade to hide their sinful shortcomings, and that some of those shortcomings are very serious. It is a human shortcoming that some people believe that religious facade, and let people get away with murder and child sexual abuse and other sins (crimes) that are offenses against God and humanity.
It is a human shortcoming that people are capable of using religion to justify sin. That does not make all religion bad.
