sorry buddy but according to scrpture, that’s not a word. Sodom is though. It’s got a Greek and Hebrew etimology that can be traced all throughout scripture.👍
It’s a word in the dictionary. In the Bible, it’s referred to by the phrase “men lying with men as with a woman.” Moses recommended that they stone such men to death. St. Paul merely warned them that they were going to Hell.

I take that you’re a rookie!

And what about the women? What was Moses’s *recommendation *regarding them?

In what regard? Moses had many recommendations for women, on a variety of different subjects.
Please don’t play dumb! This thread is obviously about homosexuality. That regard…maybe?!

Are you talking about men lying with women outside of marriage, or men sodomizing their wives, or lesbian relationships, or what? 🤷

That is your authority?
what the truth? Yea, that’s my authority.

The scripture never equates sodom and gomorrah with homosexuality. (Ez.16-48) The church does.

The scripture referes to the people of sodom trying to attack the materialized angels. (Jude 7 “sarkos heteras”, literally “flesh different.” The church puts it’s own spin on it.

The scripture never contains a made up word derived from the Greek or Hebrew name “Sodom”. The church does, going as far as to define it in terms of homosexuality. And then taking the unthinkable step at placing this invented term “sodomite” within translations.

So yea, scripture and its 4000 years of history and Tradition, that’s my authority. It’s definately not the church!

If only you analyzed your thoughts as throughly as you do my responses.

Seriously, I have no idea what you are talking about. How am I supposed to interpret these cryptic messages?
This is exactly what happens when one is content on letting a church, reason for you, decide for you, and think for you. Drift outside the bounds of “church teaching” and into the world of scripture, and suddenly loyal devotees start waliking into walls!

In one of your earlier posts, you mentionied that Moses recommended that men who lie with men were to be stoned. My obvious and elemntary question is what was Moses’s reccomendation regarding women who lie with women?

It’s like pulling teeth!

Truth? You mean opinion and revisionism to promote an agenda. Your authority is you yourself. That is the hallmark of relativism.

You guys aren’t the only ones who get tired of the other half not understanding and just making generalizations. I just don’t want to be associated with any church that breeds this kind of dislike for brothers and sisters in Christ. I would leave any ‘protestant’ church if it spoke out against catholics too…
You say you would leave a Protestant church if it spoke out about Catholics, and yet that’s what you are doing…🤷

You should have seen me before I became Catholic; I have ADD. 😃

You didn’t say “women lying with women”; you said “What about the women?”

Anyways, now that that’s cleared up.

The commandments apply to everyone; not just to the men. The same penalty goes for the women as for the men.

where in my post did I state my opinion, sir?
Let us start with your assent to the propaganda in post #2.

The idea that past generations did not grasp homosexual acts as we do today. That is nonsense. Those folks knew immorality as we know it today.

Then we can go on to your private idea about Scripture interpretation. You propose this novel, and kooky, idea that becuase the English word sodomy is not specifically used and translated that way in each case it means God is really in favor of homosexual acts.

Again, simply an erroneous opinion.

YOu are basing your opinion on the premises that the Bible is the divine word of God. At the same time you are comfortable with ignoring much of the Divine Word, I assume, under the belief that God later changed His mind and said many of the eternal laws I set forth no longer apply.

The truth is, imo, that both Judaism and Christianity maintain the fiction that the entire Hebrew Bible is the Divine word of God, and in the area of homosexaulity, this has caused nothing but problems.
