Why are there a lot of misinformed and frankly uneducated Catholics that frown upon orthodox Church teachings and Traditions that were otherwise belov

I was asked who opposed the TLM and I explained it. You hunted back for a totally irrelevant comment, took out of context and now insist you know better than I what I intended. That’s an uncharitable reading with the goal of trapping me? Strange.

Okay, now you’re actually just lying to my face.
Ok, I can see why you’re totally confused.
What I see on CAF is a microcosm of what is in parishes and dioceses. People who do not love the Catholic tradition, tell people who do love it, what they should or shouldn’t believe and do.
I said that never happened
See, I could say that you are the liar.

You actually said:
Literally nobody here has said you can’t have the TLM.
So, instead of calling you a liar, I’ll just say that you didn’t read or understand your own post.
Can you understand a difference between people saying what you can and cannot do, and saying they cannot have the TLM? I hope so.

I’m talking about people saying what can or cannot be said about Catholic tradition in general. You translated that to opposition to the TLM which is an entirely different topic I was talking about at a diocesan level.
I wouldn’t care if you said I can’t have the TLM because there’s nothing you can do about it.
I would care if you told me I can’t say things on these threads, which is what people do and have done.

I was called a hypocrite by someone here, but that post stays - since I didn’t flag it.

No story has been changed. You said we were telling you what you could or could not believe or do. I said no. You said you had been told, that your posts had been flagged and removed. I said that if you had opinions flagged and removed, it wasn’t us telling you what you can and cannot believe or do, that was you breaking the site’s rules.

Allow me to tell you something. The moderators here? They’re not nazis. They aren’t evil modernists. They don’t hate traditionalists and they’re not out to silence you to advance the NO agenda. You break the rules, they’ll take down your post. You don’t? It stays up. It’s as simple as that. You broke the rules, down goes your post.

Take it up with them if you disagree but realize that you and I are subject to the same rules here and nobody plays favorites. I’ve had my fair share of removed posts and I’m not on anybody’s nice list, but they were removed because the moderators did their jobs. They did here as well. Feel free to flag my posts; if they’re removed then I suppose I was out of line (in fact, I think they actually should be removed since they’re not on-topic and furthering OP’s question. I’ll delete the rest but this one, I’ll keep up until it’s removed). But don’t act like you were a victim of unfair moderation because you broke the rules and got punished.

I understand your view, but I indicated that someone unjustly called me a hypocrite and that post was not removed. It is against the CAF rules to engage in insults and name-calling. I did no such thing with anyone. My posts were deleted But when someone did it to me, her post stays.
I had posts deleted on other threads which, in my view, did not break the rules they just said things that are unpopular with some. People can be offended by views they do not agree with and this, supposedly, incendiary.
But that is what I was referring to.
I saw someone here claim that traditional Catholics are arrogant.
Another poster said I was insulting.
The topic of permitting the TLM, which is entirely in the domain of priests and bishops (and some lay administrators) was not my focus with that comment about what we should or shouldn’t do.

All I can advise you to do is flag posts that you believe break the rules. Moderators can’t inspect every thread themselves and it’s our job to help them target bad posts. If you have then that’s all you can do, but if you haven’t, don’t expect somebody to clean up for you.

Oh really??? Then you must have missed the post below that basically says that the majority of Latin Mass attendees are judgemental, arrogant and lack charity. But hey…I’ve been called worse.
I said my experience growing up in that particular community was very much like that. I have no idea if it was unique to them or if it was widespread. I hope it was a isolated problem. To be fair, I was also responding to a poster who was being dismissive and disrespectful toward those who attend the NO (he has now been suspended- the type of personality that unfortunately give traditionalists a bad name)

Apologies if you misunderstood my point. I have no issue with the TLM generally but when it is suggested my way of worship is substandard it makes those stating it look judgemental and rude.

The fact that you are annoyed by something does not mean it is wrong
That’s not a real argument.
@VanitasVanitatum

I don’t understand the reason for your comment. It’s fairly obvious that a statement of fact is merely a statement of fact.

Well, I disagree. Most Catholics are enemies of the Faith and must be opposed. We need to fight against their false beliefs that they spread and use to corrupt people. It has been true through the history of the Church, from Judas, through the Arian Crisis, through Modernism, through today with false teaching coming from authority and rank and file.
70% of Catholic women reject teaching on Birth Control. 70% of Catholics do not accept teaching on Eucharist. Only 25% of Catholics attend Mass on Sunday. Huge percentages support abortion and gay marriage.

Those are our enemies.

I personally hate how some clergy and laity are so open to embrace sudden changes in the Church but are too hesitate and need I say ignorant to study their sacred God given roots. it seems with each passing generation Catholics are becoming more and more passive and indifferent to their faith.
It’s because they understand that original sin made things not perfect the way things were initially designed to be. They realize the devil has tempted the culture in a dangerous direction, but choose to indirectly confront it as a prudential judgment. You reach more people with honey than with vinegar.

I think painting with a broad brush without understanding the impact of the culture won’t guide anyone towards holiness which is the ultimate goal - the ultimate goal is conversion, not pius behavior.

I think it’s impossible to not either be presumptuous or legalistic or both at the same time and that we are all both characteristics at different times in our lives. I have a predisposition towards presumption (to sin & later ask forgiveness) but I may also be legalistic from time to time. A person might be legalistic in predisposition and very pious but that doesn’t mean they aren’t occasionally presumptuous.

I don’t think he treated the Pharisees that way. Yes, if a lapsed Catholic is willing to listen (and those who met your priest were willing to spend the time) then that’s different. But people who attack the Faith are not coming to listen. They must be opposed. We do have enemies. Jesus taught us to love them, but we cannot pretend that they just slipped. They are convinced that they are right. It’s the same with any non-Catholics. Their teaching must be fought against. They are enemies of God and they cause tremendous destruction. We try to convert them, but we also must protect those who could be corrupted by their evil teachings.

The Jews killed Him. For a reason.
May I make a small correction here? The Sanhedrin and Pilate had Jesus crucified, not The Jews. The general Jewish population had no political power at the time. Thanks.

Our Lord pretty much stayed silent once He was arrested. He didn’t argue with anyone.

Wow. Hopefully everybody has taken a deep breath here.

Granted that I am often one to argue with people when I should be more open to listening, especially with hot-button topics, and granted that when one has been in a situation where one gets a lot of flak from people who really don’t know what they think they know, still a little bit of civility and less ‘personalization’ can go a long way to allowing people to actually talk to each other instead of hurling opinions at each other.

I hope we see more of the former than the latter.
