There are many here who have entered the hallowed halls of the waysonc weeh gtb and have not posted for a span. It’s my hope that they realize such a simple escape is far from a reality they ought even entertain. 💂

So I’m back for another shift at good ole Sunset Vistas Home for the Totally Not Aged (We’re Not Old, We’re Seasoned! And Vibrant! And Totally Not Our Grandparents! Honest!).
Christmas decorations as far as the eye can see, but no Hanukkah, sadly…🕎

Are you Jewish, Miss Scarlet??

Thank you for the good work you’re doing 🙂 I’m sure you’d brighten their time with your banter 🤡

I’m not, I’m Catholic, but we have Jewish residents here and it might be nice for them to see decorations, I’m thinking. Seeing that it’s the middle of Hanukkah right now.
But probably if you’re Jewish in the US you’re so used to seeing Christmas everywhere it wouldn’t even phase you…

Good point. Maybe you can arrange something for them. You can borrow my menorah if you want.

I have a Mensch on a Bench underneath our Christmas tree because I can’t stand that wretched little Elf on the Shelf

Hmmmmm… Putting something else here. Don’t know what.

Good question. And I’m not certain on the answer. My best guess…

Hanukkah celebrates the re-dedication of the temple during the second century B.C. after it was desecrated by the Greeks.

I would say that Early Christianity needed to make a separation with the Jewish community and their holidays and customs. After Christianity, the temple was no longer relevant, as it was based on the old covenant. Christ’s death on the cross ushered in a new covenant.

Hanukkah is pretty cool, but it’s not a Christian holiday. That being said, let us never forget our close connection with our Jewish brothers and sisters. 🙂

Why is the celebration of such an event no longer relevant? The Old Testament is certainly still relevant or it wouldn’t be in our bible. It’s where we came from. I mean Christians are essentially just Jews that accepted the messiah they’d been waiting for.

Edit: I sometimes wonder why our faith isn’t called the Jewish faith, and the ones that rejected the messiah aren’t called something else.

I smear lambs blood on my door posts yearly. Someone said I didn’t need to do that anymore…

That’s chilly…it’s meant to be 98.6F today.Im wondering if it’s lack of coffee or stormy weather coming giving me headaches 🙂 If the pet turtle is swimming around crazily then it’s the air pressure …I notice in the wild they start crossing the roads from creeks to dams .
