PS.If I offended you I am sorry it certainly was not my intent, …
Thanks, but luckily I am not easily offended. 🙂
It’s just that that “method” reasoning of is done all the time over here, so it really bugs me. But as I said it’s a cultural thing, and perfectly understand that non-Germans wouldn’t notice nor understand the fuss made here in Germany.

IThis is why most atheist are not joyful!Anatheist at least respects human life and you can see the different poster styles as well.Anatheist you are closer than you think.God bless
Hihi, I think I am closer than YOU think, it’s just a different truth. 😉

We both live in incredibly rich countries, compared to the rest of this world. And, as we have a quite elaborated social wellfare system here in Germany, I dare say that we are in some fields even richer than the US. Far from perfect though, but there has not been better times to live in. Noone has to starve here. Just to talk about poverty is an insult to the 3rd world. Go to south east Asia or Africa, there you can see poor people.

Poverty is no excuse for killing. A wealthy society like ours should have other means to care for “poor” children and families.

OTOH overpopulation is the biggest threat to mankind right now. And that can be fought with birth control by various means. That includes contraception, which should be propagated by pro-lifers. To make one thing clear: Abortion is not birth control, it is outright killing.

Have you ever noticed this: Lots of people who are against death penalty are pro abortion and vice versa. Now how ironic is that?

Truth is not relative,but you gave me permission to pray for you,God is there,and I know you will find out sooner or later:) In God’s time not mine;) In College when we studying economics,it is very interesting because the state of Texas can feed the world three times over:( Politics and greed hinders that.Over population is a myth,the UN just put out a report that said the world population is plumenting in due to country’s like us:nope: I have noticed too that the same people who are against the death penalty are for abortion:mad: What is the mental process behind that mentality?Is it that the unborn can’t make waves about it?Or is it a subconscience aknowledgement that they support murder and therefore want to protect the murderer.We have prisons I really don’t see that the death penalty is needed.There has also,been innocent people on death row later to be proven so.Also, whether you are convicted can depend on your ablity to pay a good lawyer.That is awful.I really think your neat and I will PM you if I find anymore on the previous subject,because I do not want to cause you uncomfortable feelings.God Bless

"a. the proportion of the population that can be classified as Christian has declined from eighty-six in 1990 to seventy-seven percent in 2001;
b. although the number of adults who classify themselves in non-Christian religious groups has increased from about 5.8 million to about 7.7 million, the proportion of non-Christians has increased only by a very small amount - from 3.3 % to about 3.7 %;
c. the greatest increase in absolute as well as in percentage terms has been among those adults who do not subscribe to any religious identification; their number has more than doubled from 14.3 million in 1990 to 29.4 million in 2001; their proportion has grown from just eight percent of the total in 1990 to over fourteen percent in 2001"

These statistics do not serve your purpose very well. Consider, during the same time frame, the corresponding increase in the rate of crime and prisoners punished for their crimes. These would be largely people who have little or no religious training in their lives. This is seen by going into any prison as a volunteer (I have) and noting how many prisoners come to chapel services … a tiny percentage.

If atheism is on the rise, and I agree that it is, how do we account for the increase in crime if atheism by its very nature offers no clear and firm set of moral values for atheists to follow … the kind of moral values that keep a person out of prison?

But this thread is supposed to be about whether atheists can be a joyful crew.

We have already had this discussion on other threads … but it bears repeating. Atheism brings no joy to the millions of men and women in prison. They have no hope for their ultimate salvation. Lifers are absolutely doomed. Christians in prison know they are working out their salvation. Hope is eternal.

Question:

How many abortionists are Catholic?

How many abortionists are atheists?

Do abortionists live joyful lives? Please don’t tell me it’s all relative to whether you enjoy crushing the skulls of the unborn.

Who says they aren’t? I happen to be quite a joyful optimistic person. This is just generalization.
