Why the name calling my PROTESTANT friend?

My fellow Christian, anyone who denies the Holocaust should by definition be considered an idiot and a liar.

People can have different opinions. They cannot have different facts. However, there is something very unsettling about the way the ADL has added the phrase ‘holocaust denial’ to the language and has made the act against the law in many countries. Shakespeare said it well; “Ye doeth protesteth too much.” Are all claims about the holocaust facts?

Some holocaust investigators have shown that the 6-million figure was reported prior to the time when the purported 6-million jews were killed. Others would say that the holocaust was promoted and ultimately used as a pretense for the creation of the nation of Israel in Palestine, which occurred in 1948.

The knee jerk reaction of most people is to categorize others who question conventional wisdom as ‘conspiracy theorists.’ This is usually done in a demeaning and derogatory fashion. Today you are considered weird if you think that contraception is an intrinsic evil or that a woman should not have the right to kill her baby. Your conviction of these ‘truths’ is categorized as merely opinion.

Now we have the pope, who has rightly lifted the excommuncation of the SSPX, capitulating to world jewry because a bishop of the SSPX says that 6-million jews did not die in gas chambers in Germany. The jews would like to have holocaust-belief put into the Catholic religion as an article of faith.

Here are some statements that many people consider to be facts but are, in fact, opinions:
  1. Six million Jews died in German concentration camps
  2. The Civil War was fought to free the slaves
  3. The US Constitution says that the church and state should be separate
  4. There is a right to privacy in the US Constitution that permits women to kill their babies
  5. NASA landed men on the moon in 1969
  6. John F Kennedy was killed by a lone gunman named Lee Harvey Oswald
  7. The 9-11 attacks caused three skyscapers to fall to the ground from fire damage
  8. All whites are racists
  9. The Federal Reserve belongs to US taxpayers and has reserves
  10. Homosexual marriage is the same as heterosexual marriage
  11. One born-again, Christians can sin like sailors and not fear for their salvation
  12. Outside of the Church there is salvation
  13. The earth created itself from nothing
  14. All life evolved from a single cell organism
  15. White Anglo-Saxon Protestants and Catholics own and run 90% of all media outlets
  16. Barack Hussein Obama is a natural-born American citizen
  17. Catholics should not attempt to convert non-believers
  18. There are 66 books in the Bible
  19. The Bible is authoritative in all matters of faith and morals
  20. The US Healthcare System is the best in the world
  21. The US Education System is the best in the world
  22. America is a Christian nation
  23. Israel is America’s greatest ally
  24. Laws are made by the judicial branch of government
  25. Congress controls the printing of US currency and makes monetary policy
  26. Most people are very difficult to control since they hold firm beliefs
  27. Television is used primarily as an educational tool
  28. One definition of “family” is as good as any other definition
  29. Children have fully formed and informed consciences from about the age of 3
  30. There are no differences between men and women
  31. Catholics worship Mary and the Saints
  32. Christ did not desire unity for His Church
  33. Jesus Christ felt pretty good about the Pharisees of his time
  34. The Patriot Act is good legislation and was read by all members of Congress
  35. The 1100 pg Stimulus Bill is good legislation and was read by all members of Congress before it was voted on
  36. Big government is good government

Anyone can have an opinion about just about anything. But when the opinion is pushed as a truth and is not factual, then it becomes a problem - for the reader and for the poster.

It shouldn’t weigh heavily on your mind, let God sort them out.
Thanks, but it doesn’t weigh heavily on my mind. And I learned to let God sort it all out long ago. But, we still have to weigh in against error–the truth is the only thing that is promised to set us free.

Right on! Those in error cannot rest without attempt to ensnare others in their web of lies and deceit. Its almost as if they know that they are wrong, but they are not going down alone vs. repenting of their sins and accepting God’s forgiveness and love.

Absolutely correct.
However, there is something very unsettling about the way the ADL has added the phrase ‘holocaust denial’ to the language
Why would it be "unsettluiing and where’s the proof that it was they who added the phrase to ourt consciousness and language?
Some holocaust investigators have shown that the 6-million figure was reported prior to the time when the purported 6-million jews were killed.
Name them and when they did so.
Others would say that the holocaust was promoted and ultimately used as a pretense for the creation of the nation of Israel in Palestine, which occurred in 1948.
Ah, a scret Jewish cabal met in a dark room and plotted to get 6 million of their own people, plus Catholics and Portestants killed so they could have a homeland that they’d never live to see. Yeah, that make sense.
Here are some statements that many people consider to be facts but are, in fact, opinions:
To make that statement you must have proof for each and every single one.
  1. The Civil War was fought to free the slaves
That was the moral issue; the political issue on which it rested was states rights.
  1. The US Constitution says that the church and state should be separate
It is heavily implied.
  1. NASA landed men on the moon in 1969
Ah, yes. This claim has already been debunked.
  1. John F Kennedy was killed by a lone gunman named Lee Harvey Oswald
A recent show on this reenacted the shooting and they showed that you only need one man.
  1. The 9-11 attacks caused three skyscapers to fall to the ground from fire damage
Two; the third fell because of the structural dammage from the debris falling on it from the two tall towers.

The list as tongue-in-cheek, right?

People can have different opinions. They cannot have different facts. …

The jews would like to have holocaust-belief put into the Catholic religion as an article of faith…
Fascinating. Enlightening too.

You wait four years between posts, then drop in to say
that you think you can speak for “the Jews.”

Not even “the Jews” can speak for the Jews.
They have no central authority. That’s a FACT.

I got your point though.
You IMAGINE that you can read the minds of all Jewish people.
Interesting. Revealing too.

You present as fact, your OPINION, an opinion that can’t be based in fact.

Good grief.

My fellow Christian, anyone who denies the Holocaust should by definition be considered an idiot and a liar.
I think I have to disagree with you there. Much as I dislike him, Mr. Ahmadinejad strikes me as a very smart man, not an idiot.

Jefferson Davis. Robert E. Lee.
Said to be very smart men.

That didn’t stop them from holding to the idiocy of bigotry.

Well, when you put it that way, I guess I have no problem agreeing that the Ahmadinejad is an “idiot”.

I don’t mind a disagreement–I might learn something. But, what did he say that struck you as being the mark of a smart man?

I can’t speak for Jefferson Davis; but Lee took up the cause of the South, not because of bigotry, but to defend his homeland Virginia. Now if you wish to critique his generalship (attacking tactically, when he should have been defending–you might have a point, but that would also run counter to the view of the typical Southerner when in combat (they almost always wanted to attack–till the near end of the war.)).

Oops?

You lost me with the run-on sentence and two sets of parentheses.

My fellow Christian, anyone who denies the Holocaust should by definition be considered an idiot and a liar.
Oh. So regardless of their IQ, education, etc, anyone who voices an opinion that is not yours (and mine, so don’t accuse me of anything else!!) is per definition an idiot and a liar?

I think someone who can say this have proven that they are more of an “idiot” than the people they speak of.

Is the Bishop’s statement correct? NO! To deny the Holocaust is to deny established historical fact. But that does not make the man an idiot. It makes him ignorant.

As for “liar”? Well, that would depend on whether or not he actually DOES believe in the Holocaust, and purposefully say that he doesn’t. To tell a lie is to say something you know not to be true.

I don’t believe the ADL had anything to do with that.
Today you are considered weird if you think that contraception is an intrinsic evil or that a woman should not have the right to kill her baby. Your conviction of these ‘truths’ is categorized as merely opinion.
And what does this have to do with holocuast denial? Because people differ as to whether contraception use is a sin I am supposed to believe that denying the existence of a holocaust against the jews is reasonable?
Here are some statements that many people consider to be facts but are, in fact, opinions:
You are basically arguing that there is no such thing as historical fact. My opinion is no US soldier died in Iraq and Saddam Hussain was not executed. That is as valid an opinion as, for example, your assertion that we put a man on the moon as being only opinion

Without even looking at your “factual link” I can only say thank God for small favors. Moreover, I have no doubt the posting and sourcing from that link violates the rules of this forum.

Since no one can drive by a car accident without at least peeking, I clicked on your link. The The holocaust denial drivel was right along side the “9/11 hoax”. I’m sure you didn’t realize that this was another conspiracy, antisemetic website and that you are sorry for even posting it. No worries.

I think I have to disagree with you there. Much as I dislike him, Mr. Ahmadinejad strikes me as a very smart man, not an idiot.
True. I think a thrid categroy needed to be added: “has an ulterior agenda”

No. What did I accuse you of???

Opinions are disagreements, say about whether certain clothing makes you look fat, of if a certain color looks good on you. But, to deny the Holocaust as the nut-job in Iran does or to deny that Jews were gassed, or that only 300k were killed* is a lie. Now, when the “bishop” stated the “expert opinion” of a Holocaust denier that one had to have a tall chimney that could qualify him as being “ignorant” (to use your term).** OTOH, if it could be shown that he knows anything about chimney’s then he is beyond that.
  • To me that alone qualified him as being stupid (he also denied that Jews were gassed–did you watch the video?). The facts are quite clear: over 6 million, Jews, Catholic, Protestants, gypsies, critics of the regime, labor union leaders, communists, mentally ill, and disabled people were murdered by the Nazi’s. No if, no and, no buts.
** This ranked right up there with Rush Limbaugh’s claim that there are more trees in America now than when Columbus landed. And when he got caught on that lie he blamed it on someone else–i.e., he wasn’t bright enough to know he was lied to.
