Why did god allow bad things to happen to this world of his???

Was does other religions say about this :

I know it’s a horrible thing to even imagine never mind say it online…but it is turning people away from God…why did God not stop Hitler from his medical experiments in the holocaust. I did a research topic on it for history. And I can tell you I would not like to be doing that research topic AGAIN…it completely horrible in every factor of humanity to live on this world…some example were of his medical treatment on children was frizzing children in frizzing water to death…injecting stuff into their eyes to change the colour in them…it’s horrible to think about. But why did God say that child are closer to God that adults??? When this horrible man was doing this stuff to poor children. It would have been better if they were gassed to death than letting them died in such a manner to death some child died within days or maybe weeks dying in pain

Does God really exist??? If yes why did god let this happen to child especially…and the killing of millions of other victims including people with disabilities

Is God cruel?? He must me if he let this happen to a world of his own…

(I hope noting bad happens to me now after saying this stuff…i most think about it)
As Yet I haven’t seen a satisfactory answer to your question. Some answers have hit upon the tip but nothing appears to explain it fully. No wonder you are confused.

That said let me state, I don’t have all the answers but I hope the following will help.

God created ALL things, and yes he created Lucifer (means “Angel of Light”, later to be known as Satan (means “Advosary” (sic)). Why did he create Lucifer? Well, let me ask, are you married, do you want to get married, do you want to have children? If you want children do you expect them to be perfect? Will they make choices you don’t agree with? The answers to these questions might help in understanding why God went a head and created Lucifer. It was out of love, as it would be out of love that you would produce children.

Ok, so God created Lucifer, but not only did he create Lucifer, but he created him with FREE WILL. Man is not the only one with free will, all of creation has that ability, granted by God, for with out free will there can be no love. So, Lucifer took his free will and rebelled against God and took many angels with him in deception. Eve wasn’t the only one Lucifer decieved that is why there was a war in heaven.

Now you may ask, “Why didn’t God just destroy Lucifer.” Let’s just suppose that Lucifer made some accusations against God and his government. And let’s say one of those accustaions was that God was unjust and selfish. How would it have looked to the other angels had God just zapped Lucifer? How does it look when a leader of a nation destroys those who make those kinds of accusations against them? Remember, God created everything so that love may abound. Would God now be ruling in love or would God now be ruling in fear?

God had to let Lucifer, now Satan, play out his hand. He had to let Satan show what he was really made of. You want a true picture of Satan, read the book of Job. You will find that it is not God that brings misery to Job, but Satan. Does God interact with man today? Did he interact with Job? Has he interacted with other men thuroughout history? To deny the interaction of God in human affairs is to deny God’s love. His ultimate love shows this interaction and his ultimate interaction was that of sending his Son to be our Atonement for us.

It is not God that is evil, it is Satan. God may allow Satan to do his evil works here on earth, to spread his misery. However, and Satan knows his time is short, this is not going to last forever, and that is the good news. Because Satan knows his time is short he is endeavoring (sic) to spread as much misery he can, hoping to instill the doubts that you have yourself expressed. Be not decieved. God loves you and, if it be HIS will, he WILL answer your prayers, you just need to be praying for the right things.

I, too, disagree with his premise. But at the same time you cannot blame that on God. It is a result of the Original Humans’ sin, not God. Because of that Original Sin, Human beings inherit **disease **and death.
So, that little boy has to suffer for someone else’s sin? Even as far back as Adam?
Uhu, what Kind of God will do that? If he was involved he would have compassion and Mercy. No, He left this place a long time ago. life just happens now. He is not involved.
Offering suffering to God in atonement for others’ sins and for the world is fruitful. Many of the saints who were diseased, sick, or blind like you say did exactly that-- they offered their suffering in union with God’s Son’s suffering on the Cross. This acceptance leads to sanctity and union with God.
Really? I haven’t seen any fruits of this…What kinds of fruit does it deliver? Spiritual fruit? Well, then it’s just something that you do, in faith, because you believe it. Because someone told you so.
Honestly, I did all that for 5 years…faithfully, wholeheartedly. And it never drew me closer to God.
Because He’s not involved. All logic points to this.
It’s up to us, but this doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t pray, or that somehow the Church is wrong.
You almost got it. It is up to us, but Prayer has never been proven to work. In fact it’s all but been disproven.
It doesn’t help jack****. Never has. Life happens. If things turn out the way we want, then “Oh, our prayers have been answered” or" We are so blessed"
And when things don’t turn out the way we prayed, then God has a different plan.
Pfft…that reasoning is all about predestination. If God was involved and he kept the promises in the bible, he would grant wished.
There would be miraculous healings at many prayer vigils. there would be “people moving mountains”.

No church leader today is able to do even the slightest miracle when it’s called for.
Their prayers are just left to providence and it’s a 50/50 change whether their prayer request will come to fruition, just like the rest of us…because nothing will change with prayer. God does not change things, because God is not here. he’s not involved. the world is a self sustaining unit that runs on its own and life happens.

Even the world’s Catholic Miracle “Hot Spot”, Lourdes have only turned up 67 miracles…ever…out of more than 70,000 pilgrims per year…since 1858. That’s averaged 67 out of 10.5 Million people? That’s 0.0000064% success rate…And I guarantee you that out of the 67 there are a lot of event that medicine and science just haven’t discovered yet.

Logic and reason. Use it.

Which laws of Physics have enabled the tall, thin mosque minaret especially to be still standing at the epicentre of an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale, when other much shorter and sturdier structures around it have been razed to the ground?

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Was God not directly involved here?

Which laws of Physics have enabled the domes of this mosque in Indonesia to have survived the battering of tsunami waves measuring 90-feet tall when they hit the beach near where the mosque is located?

Muslims have no problem accepting that God was responsible for both of the two separate natural disasters of earthquake and tsunami above AND also the mosques being saved from it.

It is all a question of accepting the good and the not-so-good things in life.

With all respect, I’m going to give you "the other opint of view " on this.

Probably the same law that saved the buildnig next to the mosque, or the domes of the mosque, or the telephone pole next to the mosque, or the buildings almost out of camera shot to the top of the photo, or that tiny little flimsy blue building on the right top quadrant of the photo.

I’m not a scientist so I can only make educated guesses. I’m sure an explination from a seismologist would clear that up though.
Have you ever looked into that, or are you just taking it on faith at first glance?

Have you researched the structural soundness of the mosque now, after the wave? What other structures were in place in the surrounding area? Have you researched the architectural style and it’s strength and age, or are you just taking it on faith at first glance?

I saw the same style of picture after the storms hit New Orleans, only there, all the houses were made the same, from wood, but one house remains untouched. It happens.

Some minor structural difference can save a house. It’s not to say that the house will still be habitable though. Maybe it’s on the verge of collapse.

Nature sometimes is just random.

So, that little boy has to suffer for someone else’s sin? Even as far back as Adam?
Uhu, what Kind of God will do that?
That wasn’t caused by God. That’s the result of what we did. God would not withhold free-will from the Original Parents. They chose death and disease for all their children. I’m sure God was unhappy with that, but He already promised not to interfere with their free-will. See what I mean?

Bear-Claw, I can’t answer these questions for you. Everyone’s on their own path to God. All I’m asking you is to not say “God is not involved”. Say, “right now all evidence I see leads me to conclude that God is not involved. However, I will continue to think about this and consult a knowledgeable priest, and I am open to realizing that I may be wrong.”

All I’m saying is, you’re on your path to God, and only you can answer these questions. I’m telling you that you have to realise that this issue is not definitively settled and you may realise in the future you’re wrong. You just have to continue to be open. 'Kay?

No, your information is wrong. There are 67 *officially *documented miracles. There are way more people that have been healed, I’ve heard there are tonnes of crutches and such as well as some wheelchairs there. All I’m saying is, don’t make up your mind forever. Keep an open mind and realise that you may be right-- or wrong.

The evidence of God’s involvement is just too overwhelming… especially when one considers the sheer destructive force of the tsunami waves:

I would say that it requires considerably more mental effort and ingenuity to choose to disbelieve than it does to believe that God was directly involved in saving the mosques from the monster waves.

Not really. There are plenty of mosques that have been destroyed before by nature or man. I mean, I could say the same about a village in India-- I went there to do medical work and help with the recovery effort after the tsunami hit. There was a church and a huge cross right by the seashore and they were the only things on the shoreline not destroyed, even though an old fort had been washed away. I’m not saying it was God, though.

If God really was going to save those mosques, why didn’t he save the people’s lives around that? Aren’t those people more important than a mosque?

Now, I really do believe that God intervenes, but Bear-Claw will (understandably) not accept that as proof of anything.

I am not saying that ALL mosques were saved from the tsunami but if there is no plausible scientific explanation, then what other cause can it be if not God’s intervention in saving SOME of the mosques from destruction.

And many people who took refuge inside those mosques were indeed saved.

Anyhow, for those who wish to see a larger view, kindly click on the images:

I apologize, I was not trying to be confrontational, I guess it’s a bad habit of surfing whilst supposed to work! Sorry about that.

So one poor kid has to go through life without seeing a sunset because of Adam? I think that this setup, if it was true, is just horrible.

How does this even fit in with the Bible that the offspring of the faithful will be blessed and that the offspring of the wicked will be punished? It’s inconsistent, and if the bible is to be trusted in this, then we are all Wicked and God doesn’t see anyone as worthy of His blessings.

And that may well be true, since it seems like there are no involvement from Him anyway.

Say, “right now all evidence I see leads me to conclude that God is not involved. However, I will continue to think about this and consult a knowledgeable priest, and I am open to realizing that I may be wrong.”
I can’t say that. Because I’m not consulting a priest. My conclusions do lead me to the fact that God is not involved, and anyone claiming otherwise will have to show proof. Proof that doesn’t involved faith, or believing someone else. A Priest will not be able to offer me that, because I tried. I tried like you wouldn’t believe.
I consulted one for 4 years. Spiritual direction, earnest praying and begging for faith, and answer to prayers. Nothing happened. Nothing.
So, yes, from my experience and from the experiences of countless others, God is not involved. And those who say that he is will have to prove it because I couldn’t.
In fact when I abandoned faith and started logically looking at things, and using reason and not faith, I saw that God was not involved.
A few simple, totally unselfish prayers, or one walk through your local children’s hospital, or other such actions will show that He’s just not around.
All I’m saying is, you’re on your path to God, and only you can answer these questions. I’m telling you that you have to realise that this issue is not definitively settled and you may realise in the future you’re wrong. You just have to continue to be open. 'Kay?

Matariel, I cannot, in good conscience, believe something that’s not proven, and that goes by heresay or on faith. I tried that and it left me stranded in the worst way.
More healings, I’m sure were submitted for study by the church and medical community and they were disproven. In the fact of that evidence and scientific research, to go by “faith” saying that they are miracles is not something that I could ever do. It’s illogical.

To be honest, The issue is settled.
Here’s how it is:
There are two sides of this issue. Side A says God isn’t involved side B says he is.

Side A shows proof of this by no answered prayers that can be proven. There is no tangible evidence of his involvement in life. In fact the opposite is true.

Side B says that you have to have faith…that’s not scientific at all. How can you prove to me that God speaks to you? If he ever has? You can’t because you believe it by faith.
Looking at the world with reason, the “Watchmaker analogy” is the most logic and reasonable and provable option. All else has to be accepted by faith and is unproven.

I’m new here and you seem to be an honest skeptic and I respect that. What I mean by that is your self-admitted lack of faith comes from your own logic and reason and not some irrational over-reaction to religious concepts just because. I am a believer in Jesus Christ but I like to think that I don’t have to abandon all logic and reason in order to justify my faith.

Now to me, there is one giant piece of evidence that God IS involved in this world, and that is the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ himself. As He said on the cross: “It is finished.”

That’s all the evidence I need.

It’s okay. 🙂
So one poor kid has to go through life without seeing a sunset because of Adam? I think that this setup, if it was true, is just horrible.
We derive our identity from Adam. In essence, we all were present in the Original Parents. But these sufferings are an opportunity of faith and trust in God.
How does this even fit in with the Bible that the offspring of the faithful will be blessed and that the offspring of the wicked will be punished? It’s inconsistent, and if the Bible is to be trusted in this, then we are all Wicked and God doesn’t see anyone as worthy of His blessings.
I’d have to see what verses you are referring to in order to comment on this matter. But I do believe that by coming to God through the holy Sacraments and especially Baptism and Confession, we are reconciled to God spiritually. But I have just recently converted to the holy Catholic Church, so I’m not as good as maybe some other well-read Catholic scholar or theologian.
And that may well be true, since it seems like there are no involvement from Him anyway.
It does seem that way sometimes. But, like I said, you’re on your own path to God (and the Truth). This journey of learning of the world about you never ends until you die. So you cannot say “That’s it, I’m settled. I know I’m right about this.” Your path to God ends at death, and inbetween it’s a process of learning of God and His world. So you cannot be settled forever on this, understand where I’m coming from.

I could tell you of my experiences of what I believe were supernatural occurances-- but these would ring hollow to you, because one desires first-hand experience to really confirm something as true. Everyone must follow your own path to God, and find their own conclusions on the meaning of God, suffering, and free-will of human beings.

This path of God, my own path of God, is what lead me to join the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, but that is a part of my own path to God, see. I’m going to be accepted into the Church on Easter Vigil. You must seek these answers and never stop searching or give up. Only you can confirm these things with yourself.

Understand what I mean?

I believe what can be proven and is not required to believe on faith. My self-admitted lack of faith is the result of an honest quest to find it, many years of prayer and searching just pushed me further away. In all my years of searching for faith and God brought nothing. No close encounters, no “experiences”, no nothing…just empty prayers into nothingness. Then I started reading what others had to say, on both sides, to be fair, and it’s incredibly subjective. There is no absolute truth. It’s all subjective. I can’t trust anything anyone says because someone else will contradict him. Asking for proof just yields a “because I believe this” or, “you have to have faith”. Well, I’ve been down that road. It’s all man-made to influence other people.

And then I started trusting my logic over blind faith and then all makes sense. Science is the pursuit of tangible evidence. No revelations, no faith nothing but pure truth and evidence. That’s where I place my trust.
I am a believer in Jesus Christ but I like to think that I don’t have to abandon all logic and reason in order to justify my faith.

The Bible.

How do you know it’s true? Because the Bible is the word of God, right?

Okay, how do you know that? How was this decided?
It was decided by a bunch of men, determining, by a bunch of criteria, what was inspired. They debated and argued and finally they decided.

How did they decide this? How did they come to this conclusion?
Well, they were lead by the Holy Spirit.

Ok, how do you prove that?
By Faith.

Bear-Claw, have you ever read Saint Thomas Aquinas’ works? He is a widely-recognised philosopher and theologian. I really think you should read his works on God and God’s relation to the world. Separately, here is a link-- it’s a minimal link, basically just an overview, and by no means a complete apologetic, but it is interesting reading:

clairval.com/lettres/en/textes/preuves_en.htm

If you can, try to read it all when you have time. And look up St. Thomas Aquinas’ works.

yeah, we got it - your god likes to kill and destroy and leave its building standing.

🤷

Keep giving us examples - while I remember that it was out of world scrutiny that the saudis finally sent a few million to disaster relief while spending billions, if not trillions, on jihadist training. 🤷 🤷

Those are all fair questions. Please don’t think that I’m dodging, but a discussion of Bible apologetics and/or non-Biblical evidence about Jesus is off-topic and the scope of such a discussion would certainly justify its own thread.

But it always amazes me when the Bible is dissed as a legitimate historical resource when there are thousands of copies from a very short time after the events they record happened and only insignificant textual variations exist. Yet seldom is Julius Caesar’s Gallic Wars or any of the writings of Josephus, Seneca, Tacitus, etc., questioned even though very few copies exist and those that do are from hundreds and even thousands of years after the originals where written. Just an observation.

So if you honestly doubt or deny the story of Jesus as it was described within only a few decades at most by eyewitnesses to the events, then I can understand your skepticism. And I’m cool with that. If I hadn’t been able to come to a different conclusion about the historicity of Jesus I would be (and was) in the same position as you.

Sorry, sometimes I think things but don’t write it fully.

Where I was going with my post is not to refute it as a historical record, but as an “inspired” work.
